.hello all,
we all know or think we know about the current situation of CloD.I won't go into details, that's in different other threads. Many of us seem to have problems with the lack of "communication" between the Devs and the comunity, amongst other problems.Poor old B6 is in a way the victim of being an "inbetween" between the Devs and the comunity. He only reports what Ilya tells him to report.
So i honestly think the time has come for the Devs to be honest about the future of CloD.
The first question is adressed to the main Dev of Clod ,Ilya, i a way to ask him to give an honest answer on how he thinks Clod and BoM will develope in the near future. And with near future i mean maximum 6 months. "I don't know" is not an option for an answer as they are highly skilled programmers so they MUST have some ideas about the future developement of the sim.
The second question is for pilots who are happy the way friday's updates come as they do so far.
In no way this poll is to discredit who ever, only to know about the future of CloD
Sincerely

The re-working of the "engine" aside, I would like some concrete answers on how many "bugs" (see bugtracker or reported bugs here) they plan on fixing before moving on to BOM. But as others have said...it's a futile request really, I don't think even they know at this point.

I agree with Furbs, I don't think Luthier can say for sure, or wants to hazard a guess when these bugs will be fixed, or how long the beancounters will let them work before pulling the plug. We know how the community reacts when he guess wrong. ;)

You really don't need an update. The future of the series is exactly the same as we have now and have had for the last five years. We will expend another billion words on the subject and it won't make a lick of difference. This time next year will still be much the same as today. Don't kid yourselves.

I went with the second option, because i don't think it's good to commit to concrete answers when things are uncertain.

They are practically rewriting half the game code with the new graphics engine. In other words, getting done in the span of a few months half of what was done in a few years.

I want the sim to be better and trust me, i have my own set of preferred fixes that i think are long overdue. Having said that however, i think that now the best course of action is not to "over-report" for lack of a better word.

Much of the gnashing of teeth surrounding this title comes from setting the bar too high and revealing too much early on: when release date rolled around, the half of the stuff that had been implemented was impossible to run on a mid-range PC within the specified system requirements, the other half had been taken for granted and everyone wondered why it wasn't included.

I think the best they can do now is keep reporting what gets done. This way expectations can be managed to a realistic extent and everyone knows what the current and next set of aimed fixes are. My only addition, if it were up to me, would be a little more detail.

So to sum up, i don't expect a "this time in 4 months from now we'll have this" kind of thing because it's impossible to accurately predict. What i would like to see is something to the tune of "the past week we worked on A,B and C, the first two worked out ok but C is giving us some trouble...we'll keep working on it and add D and E to our job queue for the coming week".

Simple, step by step and to the point stuff that everyone can understand and most importantly, with no room for speculation.

I voted for the second option .When there is something to report we will get an update but none if there is not.

Very well said Blackdog. I have in the past been unimpressed with updates and my enthusiasm for the future of this simulation franchise has wavered as a result... But, I couldn't have expressed my wishes better.

Edit: Though I do wonder if they are not already doing this with the updates from Blacksix.

I am happy with and grateful for the regular updates we have been getting.

As I regard any update at all to be a privilege.

Sam.

Friday update, or no friday update, there is only one way all of the problems in this game/forum/world can be fixed.

It's simple... Rub some bacon on it.

I think it would be much better is they wrote an update when they have something to say, unlike recently.

My personal opinion is that nothing is written, just get on with it so I can play the damned game without stutters, low fps and constant ctd's as I was led to believe I would be able to when I purchased it 16 months ago.

I`m ok with updates we have now. As long as the sim is alive and expecting a sequel, it`s fine.

Poll is kinda weird, I mean I voted for the second option but really I could have voted for either. They have given us all the concrete info they have...

I'm more intrigued as to what the 'announcement with a deadline in June' was to be honest.

The Friday updates are fine, but I do wish they'd do one every week. Even if it's 'sorry chaps, nothing to report this week'. On the other hand, even posting that would result in pages of 'WTF???!!!'

Shame really.:(

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't, regardless, and triple-damned & crucified upside-down naked over a burning anthill if they DO give concrete answers which turns out to NOT be correct 6 months down the road.

So my vote goes to the friday updates, even if it's only a "Sorry, chaps! nothing to see here!"-report.

Asking for concrete dates and concrete information in something as fluid as software developement where "I don't know" actually IS a viable answer is like taking a piss in your pants during the winter in order to stay warm.

This might be the most concerning development for me in some time, if they cant even release info on a possible future project I dont think that bodes well for the future of either CoD and/or the company in general... or perhaps I am just being paranoid... it is Friday the 13th :)

They're now moving mate. Must of got told with stuff all notice. A move will delay things for sure. Terrible for them. Such hardship.
