View Full Version : Rudder Sensitivity
Is anyone else having problems with Rudder being very sensitive?
I have a twist action rudder (X52) and the in game sensitivity control does not help. Slightest movement results in excessive Yaw, even the trim controls seem very sensitive with this latest beta.
This seems to have got worse with each FM revision change - Rudder sensitivity is fine in IL1946.
Got the same Problem here... joystick is a Thrustmaster T.16000M. Fiddling with the rudder sensitvity did nothing for me.

Hi V_S,
Can you use Thrustmaster's TARGET software to adjust the rudder axis' S-Curve?

I was very involved in the first IL2 series, I flew all the time, all the planes and loved it … but the ”Rudder sensitivity” sucked in IL1946. Not even close to a real aircraft, sorry but I can’t compare it to the currant CoD because I un-installed it after I realized there was better things I could do with my time.
I loved the original IL2 series and I’m looking forward to the sequel.

Yup, as per discussion on TS, in game rudder sensitivity has been reduced to 0.1 here but makes no difference.
The slightest pressure on my G940 pedals induces a huge amount of yaw. Similarly the trim axis seems a lot more sensitive than last official version. :(
Added to the twitchy throttle response in most of the RAF 'planes, the non-starting Hurris and Spit I and well, I kinda agree with BP_Tailspin to an extent..................
I'd still rather run with last official version so far, crashes or no crashes.
Edit: That is to say I haven't really tested the 100oct a/c properly yet, but I'm hoping there's something positive with regard to these! :)
Many thanks.. that helped a lot. :) Didn't have Traget before.

S!
Gotta give that TARGET a try if it helps with the controls. Trimming is also a pain in the arse now as a 1mm movement on the trim axis throws the plane out of trim just like that, like the movement was not 1:1 but something else :( Shall see if can adjust that too.

BP - like you I stick to IL2 Sturmovik, it's great. But never having flown I have no idea of real-world rudder sensitivity. Can you recommend any rudder settings for IL2? We can have 4 different settings of course, given there are now 4 different joysticks, so maybe different settings can be used for different types. I'll leave that with you BP, thanks.

X52 pro here and i got he probem solved.
If you in game flying try to change the sensivility setting is not going to work. You go to controls axis in the ground and change the setting. Move the joystick and it's done. At least it worked 1 time. I supose there is some text file to introduce this setting manually.

That's interesting, I checked the 'PilotMove' data in the two locations where the config files files are stored. The one in Steam Remote does not show the in game sensitivity change I made. If MP uses this file location like it does for the weapons data then that may explain why I am having problems. It may be that you have to set your axis sensitivity in MP as well as in SP and save the changes.
