(Click image for my movie web site, this movie is the top-most of the fun vids...)

I'm taking up the Spitfire from Hawkinge again, not much new about that, except that this time I am using Teamspeak, the freeware communication tool that most people who fly online use. It is great fun to talk to other pilots and really adds a dimension: suddenly you can cooperate, tell squad mates where the enemy is, watch each other's six, etc, etc. I hope it comes across in this video. I haven't been able to record my own voice, and from what I see nobody else is managing to. It would be nice. Anyway, with the annotations I have fun (again) pretending to be back in the real BoB...

My online videos are usually recorded on the server of ATAG, http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/
On the ATAG server you can meet new people from all over the world... - and shoot them down in flames! It is a great place and I highly recommend that you try it out.
Hope you like this vid: comments very welcome. Oh, and tell others about my Channel if you think it is worth it...

Hi, just popping by to say I really enjoyed this, and although your voice isn't recorded, your (unique?) style of text overlay really makes the story come to life.

Just wondering about recording your voice, have you considered running TS3 and Audacity together?

That way you can record the audio from TS3 and with Audacity set to Microphone input you could record your own Mic inputs. As-long as you sync the audio up you could put them together on the timeline and this would work?

Just a suggestion.

Anyway, I envy you for the fact you can record your video so-well....I just can't begin to get my head around the in-game video recorder and FRAPS can't capture 1080P like the in-game recorder can.

Maybe your next movie could be a 'How to record HQ video using the in-game recorder"?

Either-way, thanks for sharing, cheers, MP

Thx for the kind words mysticpuma! - And for the advice re: recording my voice with audacity. Sounds a bit too complicated for my feeble skills...

As for video capture I use MSI Afterburner. It does what you need! No tracks, just recording while I play. Hope this helps.

Nice video mate. I'd really appreciate a link in your post to go straight to youtube though, because my home laptop won't play youtube videos in full-screen mode.

Do this search in youtube: rQDhAqKkTPg

Sorry, but I really dislike the way the forum puts a little screen in the posting... - Wish they'd allow just a text link to youtube.

Excellent vid as always Freycinet, great stuff man.......god this game has so much potential has'nt it?,are the devs really going to let this go down the toilet!!!

Come on 1C sort this fiasco out for us,we've given you our time and patience in helping you develop COD,we've sent in our crash dumps, and our own research with regards the FM's,what more do you want from us.

WE NEED A PATCH SOON!...................my Rotol ain't behaving like it should do,and especially post the last patch you gave us.................some of us are losing patience guys.

I don't share your negativity at all. It doesn't just have great potential, it plays totally great. And no, I'm not happy with very little, I think this sim delivers a lot, but I know I'm not allowed to say something like that with the - let's call it "negative" - crowd in here (even though I think another word describes them much better).

Just go online and enjoy the heck out of it instead of getting annoyed with the issues there are. It is not perfection, but it is pretty damn' amazing, just look at the light and shadows that make flying and dogfighting look so real.

See Frey, this sim looks great online. As an offline user used to something like BoB2, it just doesn't shape up, sadly. It has so much potential as well.

See, I don't buy into your explanations... If the negative crowd had started actually contributing to the sim instead of sitting around and be sulking then they'd be having lots of fun offline as well. Anyway, if it wasn't one problem then it would be another, it is pretty clear that no matter what happens to this sim some people are just bent on being negative. I'd sure head off and be constructive in some other walk of life instead of spending it on this forum, if I felt about this sim as they do, but hey, we are all different.

We're not negative Freycinet, believe me,I've been here from day one and I love the sim I really do,it's got more to do with the fact that I'm losing patience, with the half baked patches we're given, and frustration creeps in.

I mean, damn it,we've got grass growing in all the hangars, you would have thought that someone, somewhere in dev land would've checked this out before releasing it,would'nt you?

This is just one of the silly things introduced into our sim as per the last 'pre Alpha' patch or whatever they call it,I could go on but I won't because it becomes boring.

However, like many others here, your videos are superb and whenever I see them released I make sure I watch them, pure gold mate, thanks.

You write that you chose your user name to honour plt officer Meaker, which I really liked to read, beautiful sentiment. But do you think Meaker would have given a rat's arse about a tiny graphical glitch such as grass inside the hangars? I think his generation would have felt that there is way too much "being difficult" in this generation... Are such tiny issues (compared to all the astounding greatness in the sim) really worth getting your knickers into a bind over? Just get up there and enjoy the fabulous flying in CoD!

My vids are not some sort of glossy commercial for CoD. They are totally unedited video captures of my flights, and I hope they show I'm having loads of fun. I really feel sorry for all the nitpickers who are incapable of that, because I guess it isn't just in this sim that they carry forward with that way too negative attitude...

Hi Frey.

Well I have an MSI 560 Twin Frozr card and I downloaded MSI Afterburner.

I went into the settings and chose Video capture.

I set up a key (Numpad 5) and started the game. I hit Numpad 5 and played the game for a bit.

I went to the folder I had chosen for the videos to record to....and it was empty :(

Did I miss a step in setting up the recording?

Cheers, MP

Try a key that you are not already using in-game, I use ctrl-X...

Freycinet

You must hit the key for both the start and end of your recording. During recording you should see some small symbols in the top lefthand corner of your screen.

Actually, I know that many/some would have found spit-girl and the mission to shoot the pilot down disrespectful on so many levels. Others might have seen the humour; in the same vain that some pilots found Robinson's Piece of Cake a horrible portrayal of pilots, and others found it realistic.

Bottom line is you can't please all. But the sim does shine in many areas, but as an offliner the game play does not stack up to something like BoB2 and I'm not being negative in saying this. It's just the fact. If the gameplay was better I'd be happily playing it.

Another excellent video, Frey!

You really capture the feeling of "being there", and your annotations are a big help. This vid certainly demonstrates the huge value of Teamspeak in locating the action quickly, not to mention covering each other's six in furballs.

My online vids are useless. Using TrackIR my head movements are guaranteed to render any viewer sea sick within 30 seconds --- or so my wife has told me! LOL

Frey...

Think of propeller pitch as speeds on a bike...when you climb steeply...fine pitch (high RPM) is more efficient. When you cruise horizontally, coarse pitch (low RPM) will give you more speed, just like on a bike.

Y'know, although Frey seems a bit overly obsessive with getting his view-counts/channel views on Youtube and his website, this topic is a welcome break from the current of deluge of nothing.

Thanks for the input. Yup, I know about prop pitch (as you can see in my Spit tutorial vid), but I am probably not applying it perfectly.

In this mission I kept fine pitch all the way through. For take-off and climb-out, obviously. Then I did an Immelmann, where I think it was good to stay in fine too. You could then say that I should have gone into coarse when I tail the baddie, but I was actually quite happy with my closure rate. For the dogfighting I think fine pitch was appropriate again. I definitely should have gone into coarse when I high-tailed it back to the aerodrome, but somehow forgot about it. Honestly I also think it wouldn't have earned me many seconds. For landing I think fine pitch is best, if you need to gun the throttle and do a go-around.

I guess what I am saying in so many words is that I don't really see where in this mission I really really unquestionably ought to have gone into coarse pitch... If you see it otherwise can you tell me where?

Interesting topic, and I obviously could handle pitch better.

You do know there is a movie and video area?

Our "movie" moderator has been so kind as to tell me that I can post my vids in the main forum, and then he will move them after a couple of days. Sorry to have ruined your day ;)

Philip, not so much a question of view counts, but definitely of getting written feedback, which is a main reason/motivation for me when I make these movies...

Yeah, I also think it is really sad that there is so little positive activity in the forums. I think it is in no small measure due to the absolutely excessive negativism by so many who should just move on if they really dislike CoD as much as they express, but I guess we won't agree on that ever.

I just realized that the video I have been watching is Spitfire vs Bf-109 over Folkestone...not Break, Break, Break...Its an older video obviously, but watch the CEM display (bottom left) after take-off.

Now I am going to watch Break, Break, Break because your videos are very entertaining and bring me back to COD...

Nice work.
