altough cool. this is one effect i can live without. And we kind of know how 1c likes to exagerate this kind of effects dont we?

Your both wrong, according to one of the pilots on here its actually pretty accurate.

Right sooo you seem to have forgotten that this game is aiming to be a sim not an arcade game.... Personally although annoying at first I have found the effect to add another tactic to the game :D I have and have being affected by a pilot turning into the sun to blind me and have been given the thumbs up by a pilot on atag for doing it to him as well (It was by accident though :P).

So remove it? No rather they tweak it or you just go and play arcade if you can't handle it

i just mean the plexi details littles kind of cracks when sun beams through it, not turn down reflexions or anything like that

like the ones on Lomac

S!

CoD could get rid of Bloom on cockpit reflections seen in outside views. Cockpit cracks can be seen in real planes as in that DCS video. But again..games are games and RL is totally different :)

Actually I'd love to feel inside a closed cockpit and not in an open cockpit cage sort of. It would add to the immersion and it perhaphs the only feature for which I really loved Lockon. These little scratches and reflexions. It would also be cool if we could get the optical distortions for rounded plexiglas parts that are so typical particular for vintage aircraft produced with vintage production methods.

Hi stormcrow!

ive flown little, and im not sure if that was pexiglass glass, but if there were scratches in the glass, i never noticed them. and one of the last things ground crew did before starting the engine was one last quick clean to the windglass, yo ucould tell the glass was there tough, jsut in the same way you feel it in a car. but no scratches.

When I mentioned this a long time ago there were actually some people pretending that such reflections and scratches etc. wouldn't even exist. These kinds of scratches are visible even in the recent fighter planes and thus I'd like it if they were added. But even if you show them real pictures and / or video footage of jet's and older warbirds they still don't believe it.

From this experience I'd say if these effects are added people would fly with canope open even more than they do now (for soundradar).

Also from what i have heard the spits cockpit was more susceptible, all those years of the "BAR", its time that the reds feel what its like as well :P

as i said above, i think this is one of those things you can clearly see on video, but in real life it just goes unnoticed since you focus out of the pit.

Hi.

THANKS for the GREAT Video and for your work. For me are these nice cool and real effects:)
Perhaps we have this any time in our Flight Air Sim;)

Have a nice time.

want reflection

this one has it too

more details the better.

yeah there's a chance the devs can mess it up, but also there is a chance they will do it right.

on a side note here's a funny

The op as made a mistake labeling plexiglass scratches as reflections but I guess that a reflections debate is fine :)

Anyway about the scratches ... we can“t deny that the scratches exist, the plexiglass gets scratches with the use.

But I see this issue implemented as a weathering feature, as the paint of the plane get weathering in the external view this same weathering system can be in cockpit view, then the paint if of the cockpit and instruments get weathered and the plexiglass scratches.

Also the weathering should make our plexiglass dirt, affected by smoke ... oil ...

That DCS video really looks like a reflection map in the plexiglass :)

CLod had a reflection map in the plexiglass and in the sight glass in the development stage, here is the video :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMFFQGryWhk

Those statics spots that you can see in the plexiglass are a incomplete reflection map, its incomplete because is not showing a cockpit texture (the texture is a place holder) and its not affected by the movement but the effect was in the development stage.

I guess that this effect was switched down due performance reasons, the reflections maps are hardware hungry ones.

You can even see a reflection flag in your conf.ini ;)

The reflections in DCS P51 cockpit do look good. But no scratches in the plexiglass. It's a small touch but from Lock On I remember it being really helpful in increasing immersion. Also done well in Microsoft Flight.

On the other hand the sea in DCS looks terrible, and think I would have a problem trying to buy into the idea of a P51 battle in a modern day Baltic map...

That early development video still blows me away today. It looked incredible. A shame that many of the features present were stripped out. Hopefully when the team get the ball rolling again they will be added back in.
