Hi all,
Each successive patch, alpha, misfix has really degraded performance. Our squad wishes to reinstall/revert to orig version.
How do we do that?
Thanks

ATAG...
I have reinstalled and it shows Version 1.05.
Is this the original USA release version << as this is the one we wish to stick with?
Thanks

If you uninstall and install from steam you will get standard default install everyone gets that buys it.

Steam pushes 1.05 as tha last 'beta patch' before the horrendously executed 1.06 prebeta beta alpha.
We wish to revert to 1.02 before the constant haze, 25% reduction in FPS and weird sound glitches.
How do we do this?
Thanks

This is why 1.02 is preferred.

No idea. Runs fine for me. Perhaps someone reading can assist.

IF YOU ARE ON STEAM, just do a "verify integrity of game cache" under the properties >localfiles thing.
It will revert the game back to the last steam full release (last non-beta release I think).

Hi Spudley
Try this if you have CD/DVD retail version of Clod;
Log in to Steam and click on Library.
Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
Insert the first disc into your computer.
Close Steam (Steam > Exit).
Press Windows Key + R to open Run
In the Run window type: "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:
Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.
Press OK. Steam will launch and ask you to sign in if you do not have your password saved. Your installation should continue from the disc.

I don't think you will be able to revert to 1.02
If you re-install Steam will automatically update to the latest non-beta version unless you have the auto updates turned off, in which case it will be 'vanilla' v1.0
9I think)

Yep, it is now impossible to get the previous versions. Even if you install off the disk when you start the program it will download the patch and their is nothing you can do about it.

MADCAT,
Based your suggestion, I did the following:
1. Log in to Steam and click on Library.
2. Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
3. Insert the first disc into your computer.
4. brought up CMD ( dos command - DVD F: drive)
5. typed setup.exe (DOS: F:\>setup.exe )
6. Sounds like it is trying to install from CD, will post results...

THE CD does list separate files:
CLOD disk1_0
CLOD disk1_1
CLOD disk1_2
Just can't figure out how to install from the CD.
Unfortunately all the patches have been beta/alpha. This is no longer the IL-2 series and should not bear the tradition of the title.
Cliffs of Dover as extension of the IL-2 Series was a LARGE FABRICATION and is not worthy of purchase.
Will see if we can revert, and none of us will buy the next versions of Misrepresentation - disgusting.
Will locate copy of 1.02 files on web and copy them, shame we have to do so but 1C Maxxox has dropped the ball, and is doomed to repeat this fiasco in the sequel - Buyers Beware !

Check SimHq, a guy there has zipped all the files for a 1.4 version of the game.

Hi Spudley
Them separate folders (disk1_1, disk1_2 etc...) contain like steam game image files, kind of like how you make a CD image file if that make any sense.
Any way in steam look for the "Steam" tab at the top left of steam, click it and look for "Backup and Restore Games...".
Select "Restore a previous backup", then click "Next" and then tell steam where your Clod CD/DVD is and click "Next" again and it should install.
But like kristorf said it will automatically update to the latest non-beta version unless you have the auto updates turned off as soon as you have finished installing Clod or it may do it in the back ground as your installing it!!!
So I now think like what kristorf said you can't revert back to 1.02
But just for future reference and if your quick enough to turn updates off right click on the game in your steam game library / list and select "Properties". Then click on the "Updates" tab and then select from the drop down menu "Do not automatically update this game".
PS; You can see whats downloading in steam by clicking on "View" then "Downloads" and you can pause, restart or cancel the download.

Steam always brings the version up to the latest official patch in one go.
So, if you download from Steam you'll have 1.05.something.
If you install from the disk and disable Steam updates you'll have 1.0.something, which you cannot upgrade incrementally: turning on updates will bring you up to 1.05.something, as if you were downloading from Steam.
The only way to have the ability to go back to a specific version is to keep backups of each one. Steam does have such a feature. Before applying any update you can backup your current version. I had all versions backed up on my HD, from EU release to the latest one, but disk space was running low and i deleted them.

Thanks all for your suggestions. However they do not seem to work completely - even the instructions from 911Dan.
Can someone please create a ZIP of the entire Steamapps /Common / il-2 1.02 folder which does work correctly? If you can post on the net I can simply copy this and have the 1.02 version available.
Thanks
