I'd love to participate in an allied fighter, byut just saying "tonight" gives me no information about "when" to meet. Please, when you post for the gathering of large groups, can you post a firm GMT date/time so those in various parts of the globe know exactly when to arrive.

I flew Ju-88 for about two hours, most of the time together with otehr 88's. My game didn't crash.
We did a cool seven ship strike at G7 radar station and my game ran ok without a crash. I lost another 10-15 frames with this "fix" tho and a lot of quality.

I think the amount of quality lost in this beta patch is not acceptable. I didn't see so many low resolution textures since the first Il-2 Demo :(.
The game really looks horrible now. I just tried two older versions to be sure and the difference in looks is shocking.

I sure hope, for their sake, this is not how the final patch will look. If this is the look of the things to come I'm not interested in BOM.

I tried to play tonight :/

One flight, got close to a flight of Stukas, might have been players, rolled in on them from 15,500 ft and jerka....freeza....crash :(

No joy for Wolverine with this one I guess :/

When my game crashes on MP its due to the launcher.exe consuming excessive amounts of memory (memory leak) ...I dont get this in SP.

For those of you who are getting CTDs, try monitoring your memory usage during MP to see if it gets to the point where you have little memory left and the game crashes.

Last night we had another large group of twin engine bombers attacking Britain in formation with not one, thats right not one ctd for any of the bombers:-)

EDIT: Bliss had ctd later in the sortie.

This is fantastic, as prepatch we couldnt fly two bombers for more than ten minutes with out a ctd most of the time. Thanks devs:grin:

The formation flying with bombers is great fun and as we refine our tactics and flight skills, the experience will only improve!

For future sorties we hope to have a regular scheduled Bomber Flight twice a week including a weekend day so that we can get action from both sides of the pond;)

Thanks to everyone who participated:!:

Just had two new flyers on the ATAG server with new patch with me. One each had a CTD after the first time playing after installing patch. After that none of us had CTD in 3 hurricanes flying for 45 minutes. Game is running quite smoothly online too but it was less populated today (20 online).

Almost ten, I am going to try some more tonight so I bet we get a simular showing if anyone wants a go at formation flying join ATAG this evening!

There was a strong ATAG presence as well which was pretty cool to see, although I thought some more red squads would jump at the chance to shoot at all them human bombers lol.

Some intreped red fighters did attack us in the assembly area at Tramecourt, that was cool, hehe.

My wish was granted later at G7 when our group of Ju88s tried to reassemble after destroying the radar towers, we were bloodied before we could get to are next target by many allied fighters:o

On a side note never play chicken with Krupi:-P (you had to be there lol)

So how many bombers got up? How'd it go? I didnt make it on :(

When i got in, there were three Ju88's around the field. I took off and got a crash...A real one, there were Ju-88 parts all over the field.:mrgreen:

Tried again. It work that time. :P After take off i circled the field with Borris and other players for what seemed like an hour until more people joined and some got the patch installed. No CTD's with all this Ju-8's flying around (and buzzing everyone #
When we formed to go to the target we got bounced over Traimcourt by a bloody spit. Two people had to get new planes, so the rest of us kept circling.

In the end we gotseven or eight Ju-88's in formation and went to the target in G7. There may have been more than eight but I know i had six in front of me at some point. The target went down like a 5$ hooker from all that awesomeness.... and TNT.
For some funny reason we decide to circle around, above the target, to form up again for the second part of the trip to Ramsgate....Very bad idea. All the spits available in England were thrown at us. There was a sea of planes shooting at each other. Spits and Hurricanes attacking us, our escorts shooting them. All in all an epic fight.
I was unfortunate enough to pick up one of the ugly Spit 2's that chopped my wing off in the second pass.
Since i was in the area I joined the plane flown by Bliss as a gunner, just in time to notice his CTD. His game just crashed and left me inside the spinning plane on the way to my second death.:#
I immediately rejoined Doc"s bomber as a nose gunner, but he removed his nose gun to save weight, so I worked as butler, bringing him beers from the cooler in the back seats. It all worked out good. Doc dropped a big load of bombs right on target and we left it in flames. He then decided to land on Ramsgate just to take a pi$$ in England to complete the humiliation.

I had to log off after that. Great fun.

From the bombers and escorts flying together, only Bliss had a CTD during that huge fight over G7 targets. I'd say the online CTD's related to bombers flying formation are fixed. I did get some crashes offline tho. In FMB, QMB and even in the arming screen. :(

That was pretty cool. But now that we can at least go the distance some people have problems like 40+ fps and then switch to bombsite and drops to 3. Weird stuff and odd times. But all in all a big improvement over before - at least we can form a group even though it is sometimes very lose - it wasn't possible 2 weeks ago.

Enjoyed it immensely even the attack on the base with everyone there. Its what I would have done except I would have brought a posse over there and when we left you'd see burning planes and body parts every where.

Burning headless doll laying on the tarmac that was a good luck memento of some unfortunate Ju-88 crew member. Carnage. :)

Battle of Brittan!!

How about 2 time slots. We got people all over the globe that want to do this. I am good anytime Friday 1800 CST all the way though 1800 Sunday so that is a 48 hour window. I wont do it the entire time but if we can get a couple of slots that are doable by people I am in.

Ok, now i'm confused. In the UK we're on GMT +1 currently, and CST is on CDT also?

I just checked and it is. And the clocks are currently 6 hours different.

So two slots, at 10.00am/3.00pm CDT and 4.00pm/9.00pm UK DST sounds spot on to me.

This would be 9.00am/2.00pm CST and 3.00pm/8.00pm GMT, wouldn't it?

I'm all for it if a suitable time slot is selected.

I'll probably stay in tonight and it's Saturday, so i have quite some free time to fly.

My timezone is GMT+3, which means current UK time +2 (we're normally GMT+2 but we're currently on daylight savings time and as i understand it, the UK is too, so the time difference stays at 2 hours).

So, i guess that anything from the evening up to 10:00pm UK time is a good enough starting time for me. Early enough to join, sufficient time ahead to fly and test things out.

Failing that, i'll just hop on the server and see what's going on :-P

It might be a good idea to wait for initial feedback from the hotfix as well. I think it's 4:30 pm now in the UK and the status update post from B6 is coming within the next hour or so, which might contain a hotfix.

If it does get released, we could test it offline for a couple of hours until 6:00pm UK time or thereabouts, come back here and see the bug report thread and reach a decision.

If no game breaking behaviour occurs (provided correct installation procedures are followed) and you guys have one of your server administrators around, then you could patch the server and we all test the latest version of the patch.

CAUTION:

If the patch makes changes to only a few files, we will need to install on top of the previous alpha patch instead of rolling back to the latest official version (via Steam). Otherwise, we might get missing files and erratic behaviour.

Since we can't know which case it is, the safest procedure to follow that ensures both a clean installation and completeness of all files is the following:

1) Verify integrity of local files through Steam: This will roll you back to the latest official version, before the patch we are currently using.

2) Empty your documents\IL2 CoD\cache folder

3) Apply last week's patch (the one we just rolled back from) but don't run the sim yet: We don't want it to rebuild the cache yet. Just extract the files in your main installation folder.

4) Apply today's hotfix (if there is one) on top of it all: Same thing, just extract the file B6 gives us.

5) If you have installed on a hard disk and not an SSD, defrag your game files through Steam: SSD is fast enough and it has a limited amount of rewrites available, so don't strain it.

6) Run the sim: It will take a while to rebuild the cache and load into the main menu screen.

7) Run a quick mission and fly around for a few minutes: I just use the free flight missions and zip around for a couple of minutes. In the event that something is not loaded yet into the cache, flying over terrain, houses, etc will force the game to add it.

8 ) Exit the sim.

You should now be sitting on the final testing patch version with a correctly rebuilt cache. From this point on you can simply launch the sim and fly.

Ok, hotfix is out and it's only a single .DLL file.

There's two ways to go about it.

Either do all of this:

Or do only this:

1) Empty your cache

2) Copy/extract the .DLL to the specified folder

3) Run the sim to rebuild cache

4) Run a quick mission and fly around for a couple minutes.

5) Exit the sim.

Happy testing guys and let us know which version the server will be using for tonight's event

Good day gentleman,

Thanks Blackdog^^^^ I was unable to get much flight time this weekend with the holiday and all, Did I miss any epic bomber sorties?

I was curious about the mini patch and how the server handled any big formations?

See ya in the air!

If you guys do another bomber sortie test please record it. I love seeing lots of bombers in formation in multiplayer sessions. Once this patch goes official I'll join you.

Hey kestral79, ATAG_Doc recorded some formations last week, I think 12 planes was the biggest 9 of which were bombers (that was fun).

It's still in the editing phase I think but when he is ready to publish Im sure he'll post a link for us:)

I didn't see too much bomber flying on the blue side strangely enough. I was running around in a Ju88 looking for that armory target north of Littlestone, got shot down a couple times, then the guys on TS told me exactly where it was and i made a pretty good run on it. Keller was on as well at some point, but a bit after that i had to turn in for the night.

The red team did a good job with their Blenheims however. They were hitting targets more or less steadily and as soon as our 110 count dropped, they won the other map once (the one where blue needs to take out the beaus in Ramsgate) by sneaking around from inland UK, exiting over the N.Sea (i guess somewhere between Deal and Ramsgate) and taking out the 88s east of Calais.

All in all, some pretty nice flying.

You'll see more blue's flying bombers when they get the bombsights sorted out better, and some place for us He-111's to take off from! (hate airstarts)
