Using the latest BETA PATCH v1.06.17582, i have maxed everything out, running il-2 CoD RU at 1920x1200; AA 4x and VSYNC & SSAO: 'off' , because if i set them to 'on' the sim just won't launch, i have to delete the conf.ini to be able to launch it again. My average fps is 50-60 over land and everything is pretty much smooth and almost stutterless -i would say. Except when i hit the ground with the plane , the dust slows the fps down by a little. I have also noticed a notable fan activity inside of the 680GTX card when i'm flying il-2 cod, actually that does not happen in other big 3d games (Skyrim, Armed Assault II, DCS A-10), sounds like the gfx card is pretty much solicited by il2cod here or maybe the nvidia drivers are not yet that well optimized for the 680gtx?

i'm using nvidia drivers 301.24 and have set the 3d/image settings to: "let the application decide" in the nvidia control panel

any other / better tips?

thanks

I have a GTX580 and the 3 fans go up speed with CloD as well and make some noise. Temperature rises up to 80 C.

Cheers!

I also got one. Great card eh?:) I also got everything on high since i am pretty sensitive when it comes to stuttering. Vsync on. I just read about Adaptive VSync (new feature of the 300 driver) and am going to test it today. I recommend you tryting to use this setting too. Abviously it is meant to help avoid a game sliowing down too much when the fps are constantly around the 60 fps.

Yes preformance with the 680 GTX on max is acceptable and i don't feel like lowering settings but the particle effects really slow it down to a crawl.

uhm.. that's not good. means the 3d engine is not optimized as it is beating the hell out of the gfx card to process huge amounts of unnecessary data and code :(

80 C is not too much for a video card. CloD is very demanding as it has a lot of eye-candy, e.g. cockpits, lighting effects, land shading, etc.

Neg, 80c is normal operating temprature for the 680GTX and for many other graphics cards. GPU should be pegged at %99 usage for most demanding games.

A duo of GTX 580 SLI is a very good solution.
