I will not play more until CLOD will be more stable and not break my PC...
Me graphics card is GTX 465 1gb ddr5... with the last NVIDIA drivers 296.xxV...
CPU Intel Core Quad duo Q9400 at 3,2Ghz...
4Gb Ram DDR2

A video game isn't going to break your graphics card, but one that uses a high % of load will definitely push your system's cooling ability.
But even then, unless you've messed around with your GPU's firmware/OC your GPU should shut down long before it got hot enough to actually cause physical damage.

shut off pc, unplug gfx card and reinstall, go back to previous drivers. I knew something wasn't going right with all the betas they released, many more than ever before

Not necessarily.

Someone should pull down this thread. it is very missleading and no proof.
Roll back your drivers, Check you are using default settings, Turn IL2 COD to default graphics (normal settings not high).
Be very careful to understand the real reasons for your graphics going the way they are before you start blaming gaming software.
now go reset everything and do some tests.

No game breaks a gfx card. Some games do push the cards but all in all it comes down do keeping the computer cool both internal and environment. That means maintaining the computer by cleaning out dust in fans and other parts. I clean my computer every 3rd month and i have never experienced any overheating issue by doing so. Also, using a fan controller software like "MSI Afterburner" and set up a profile speeding up the fans at certain temps is important. Especially if you are gaming several hours straight. You can also set up hysteresis temps where an alarm goes off when high temps are reached.
There are a lot of ways to protect yourself against overheat. Just my 2 cents :)

As if it took a hammer to it. Honestly, you can't blame a game for breaking hardware. It may have been just bad timing that you were playing the game when your card died. Same happened to me whilst playing GTA 4.

Me GPU temp in game not up to 60º-65º... I turn off epilepsy filter... I Cleaned the PC the mounth in mounth... I have a profile NVIDIA ONLY to set fan at 100%.... and always fan in CloD is 100%... Me system is unestable and sometime cant work with him...
But.... Do you not think that Clod works already correctly? I think that this program is unestable and could damage your PC... more black Screen, and more unestable system... in PC med-low performance and Pc´s big performancie... All Pc´s this game is unestable... I played 200 - 300 hours at CloD, the game is very beautifful, but in combat sometimes is imposible play... more shooters, and more game launcher.exe outs...
Me setting in game was: Med-Lower settings...
I play now ROF... but I wish that 1C team launch a patch that solve all problem to game performance, I like more CloD, and I want play with him, but I have a panic to break me PC  ...
Thaks guys for yours coments. See you all.
PD: Me Grapich card not OC, setting factory... Only OC CPU at 3,2Ghzs

Mate that looks like an overheat issue to me in which case you CAN damage your card but its not CoD that done it imo..
you said you've played 200-300hours with no problems? don't you think its a bit strange then that all of a sudden CoD decides to break it for you?
Games don't break hardware, and if it was maxing out your gfx card then you would know long before and would adjust settings appropriately.
This is either a malfunction hardware wise or driver bugs either way associated with heat I would say

Software does not cause physical damage to hardware. It was just bad luck that CloD was running when your GPU failed. What brand GPU?

If your system is unstable from before is a strong sign that something is wrong besides the problem when playing games. Secondly, you say your card doesn't go over 60-65c which i have a hard time to believe unless you use liquid cooling or a 3rd party custom cooler on the gfx card which i dont have the impression of being the case here. Nvidia cards reaches easily up to 80-90c in a game that pushes the limits on a stock cooler.
Download HWmonitor (google it) and let it log while you play to see the max temp reached. ALT+TAB to windows while playing will not show you the correct, current temp, in a general temp monitor desktop gadget, as the GPU will drop 15-20c in an instant when you switch.
Could you provide more information on your setup?
What type of cabinet, how many fans and fan size... etc

Not guy, I played 200 - 300 hrs, but always or sometime CloD was unestable in combat or over small and long city´s... more launch.exe error. More shoters, lags, ghost... and auto reset Pc, with all and diferent Nvidia controlers...
Sorry guys, but, a software can damage a grapich card to overheart, or similar...I create the last year a profile to activate GPU fan at 100% when CloD run and Temp always was over 60 - 65ºC..,
But if I dont play CloD, and I Play other games how Battle field 3 or ROF, me PC work very fine and not give problem me.
Me solution is not play more CloD... becouse my computer is in danger...
I wait to new patch to CloD and profile oficial to Nvidia for CLOD

If your graphics card is dieing, it's not because of Cliffs of Dover, it's dieing by high temperature: inadequate cooling on your part, or in a rare instance, a bug in your graphics card driver that runs full tilt with no regards to the temperature sensor.

Other coment with the same.... temperature is good I use NVidia inspector and temp is not tall that 60 -65º in game and fan work at 100%

Again, if your graphics card is really dieing, it's not because of Cliffs of Dover - we would have many more reports of hardware failures over here over the year.
Are your other games crashing now too? If it's just CloD, sounds like you need to delete your cache, turn down the clock (my game crashes within 5 mins if I overclock my 570gtx, sometimes a hard reset is needed).

You probably have a driver problem.
Some guys on sukhoi forum had problems with 29x.xx drivers, but not like yours.
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthread.php%3Ft%3D75008%26page%3D3
You could try to go back to older ones that you had installed.
Also if you have problems it will be wise to use Driver Cleaner or Driver sweeper ,
to be shure that you have clean installation.
I would test that card with Furmark to check stability and temperatures.
Good luck!

Who you gonna play with when you upset people and humiliate them. I've seen the "dont let the door bump your butt" routine so many times and each one is a lost player and with the 50 to 70 players scattered over minimal servers I dont think this game or community can afford to loose people.
How about help people solve their problems instead, turn these senarios around before they make a bigger loss for the community in the long run.

I just want to reply that i had this same issue. but i GUARANTEE its the 296 nvidia drivers. the second i rolled back to 295 everything ran fine... there are a lot of issues with 296 right now, BF3 is having a lot of artifacting again for people with 296.
just roll back your driver and you will be fine. I highly recommend to anyone using 296 drivers to roll back to 295, they are much more stable and imho have a lot less issues with them.
i was able to repeat the same error with the "rainbow" cockpit in CLoD 4 times while on 296 and when i went back to 295 i have not seen it since.
good luck and happy flying!

296???
Nvidia Forceware 296.17
14 March 2012
Nvidia has released the 296.17 Preview driver. This driver is for GeForce 6 and higher desktop cards. It is specifically designed only for the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and provides full WDDM 1.2 support.
also my gt450 with me manually setting my fan speed at 100% generally does not go any higher than 64-65C
also as has been mentioned before dust your stuff, you might have to take out the video card and dust it as well (i take my hardware outside to not get dust all over house. and use a duster can of compressed air.) reinserting the graphics card could clear any corrosion or other crap that is on the connection points...
honestly cleaning a computer could do wonders in SOME situations...and is a good place to start for most people...
296 drivers are for win 8...
Covert_Death
03-21-2012, 04:46 AM
296.17 is for win8
296.10 changes features from 295 and is what has caused issues for me and probably the OP

Go to your documents folder/1C Softclub/iL2 sturmovik cliffs of dover and open the conf.ini file.
Makes sure EpilepsyFilter=0
I remember a past post where someone had the same fault and despite it being turned off in the game video setup they found it was EpilepsyFilter=1 in the conf.ini.They altered it to 0 and saved the file then the fault went.
Worth a look anyway, good luck sorting it out.
