Hello all,
I recently updated to the latest nvidia drivers and all of a sudden artifacts begun to appear - black boxes over planes and black spots over the sea (those are the ones I encountered so far).
Also I experienced a CTD in single player, which is new to me (all of my other CTDs were during MP).
I had no graphics problems up until now - maybe the issue is SLI related?
system spec:
core I7 2600K

8GB DDR 3 ram
Geforce GTX 560 Ti X 2 - SLI mode

could be as the Sim isn't supporting it yet.

I'm running Sli and the 295.73 Drivers and don't have any artifact problems, see my sig.
Also this may help with CTD, my reply to a post in the Tech section.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had a similar problem with my Launcher.exe where it failed and would either not launch or crash. Found that the problem was connected to removal of some software that I had deleted. It had taken out some "shared" dll's that were required by CoD. A re-install of SP1 for W7 resolved the problem and have not had any further problems. Also check and see if you have had any recent MS updates that might be corrupted, if you have try system restore and see if that cures the problem. When you get a lot of updates all trying to install at once for some reason some get corrupted during the process.

Humm! it seems the same case as mine...
For some time I've been experiencing black screens esporadically (black screen freezes, sound continues but always same, and Ctrl-alt-del to end launcher) , but since I updated to new drivers artefacts appear on the screen as black squares in certain zones and areas of rare texture.
Gigabyte 560Ti here, no SLI.

sounds like i'll have to wait for the graphic engine upgrade, I don't want to roll back my nvidia driver...
wonder if it is nvidia related bug only.

I dont know... but Im considering going back to old drivers... just to confirm that´s it...

Desertowl,
Have you tried to get the best you can from your Sli through nvidia inspector? some of us had problems getting Sli to work reasonably. Have you tried my Sli setup? if not I will repost it here for you.

i have the same issue... since 295.73 i have the artefacts, too...
i went back to the last driver and no more artefacts...
the newest driver isn't always the best ;)

as it seems like a driver issue - I hope the devs. are taking that into account in their planned patch.
I haven't seen the SLI optimization setup guide and i will gladly try it, but from what i see here the problem is not SLI related.

DesertOwl,
Here is the information that I posted on Sli in the forums some months ago. You will need Nvidia Inspector to get the benifit of this program and that is available as a free download. These settings are what I use and are a workaround for Sli until an official Sli is released by the developers. Alot have found that these work well for them while others do not. I have fps over London in the London Attack SP of 40---60fps with only minor stuttering when looking at the ground for navigation. My Sli is much weaker than your's so you should get realy good fps. Also use EVGA Precision tool which will give you fps, temps and % that both cards are using ( MSI also has a similar tool) these are free dowloads and will work with all Nvidia cards. Using this type of tool will indicate wether or not your Sli is working or not. If you find that one card or other is only running at idle temp (about 35--37 deg) then Sli is not working as it should.
Also see this post of mine, these are my basic Nvidia Inspector settings

Desertowl,
since I have installed latest driver, Ive got only in one object an artefact. (German AA twinMG). One is worse, others are o.k.
However, since driverupdate, I can config settings in the Nvideasetup menu and asign them to Clod, and seems to work now (the vsync for ex)
Can anybody confirm this?

Well... I´ve gone back to 285 drivers, and artifacts has gone... its a driver issue with some Nvidia 560Ti... suspect te OC models... but not sure.
Hope next patch (both, game and drivers) solves this.

People,
I have gone into Nvidia's forums to check to see if others are having similar problems to what DesertOwl has, and there are quite a few. It looks like there could be 2or 3 reasons for this happening and most of it points towards the Gigabyte 560ti O/C (possible bad O/C)
and some with power supplies that are not capable of running the required wattage of the card. Some multi rail p/s don't have the required current on any single rail to do the job. Here is a reply from the member who is running the thread to try and sort the problem.

Well, looking at the above a few things are popping out...
First thing anyone should be doing is checking out their PSU, a single high quality rail I think would be better than several smaller rails. I've read about numerous problems with multiple rail setups, things aren't quite as simple as adding rails together to the best of my understanding. Some have even told me that a PSU with three 18amp rails can't safely run a single 20amp device as an example, not sure of the truth to that. Anyone with a solid knowledge of electronics or engineering able to help with that? Alas I'm a biologist, these things are beyond me.
It does seem as though factory overclocked models are somewhat to blame, perhaps poor testing on the part of the manufacturers? Downclocking as a fix seems to be evidence of this. The Gigabyte 900s seem especially problematic, I saw it mentioned in other forums as well. Perhaps advise others to avoid this model for now.
We will have to wait to see if new drivers solve anything, but I doubt they will as the older drivers still seem to cause issues.
I'm still not convinced that the drivers aren't responsible for multi screen user issues however.
The user with sudden fps drops... Not sure on that one, perhaps driver updates in future will address it. Failing that what is your CPU?
Here's another post from the same thread that may help. (Rick)

PROBLEM - (SOLVED)
1) KFA2
2) GTX 560 Ti OC
3) 266.66
4) Single 24"
5) 650w psu
6) Windows 7 Ultimatex64
7) Artifacts in Mortal Online / 3Dmark 11 / FPS drops in games / lag
Solved for me.
Stock voltage 1.025 was not enough. I gave it 1.062v and my artifacts / lag / fps drops dissapeard.
It seems the volt for these cards (in my experiance) come to low and you need to give it more juice.
I used MSI afterburner to do this (new beta version from guru3d's site)
Hope this helps some of you, and as always with doing something like this, there's a risk involved.
Are any of you with problems using Gigabyte or Msi?? these seem to be the main cards that people are compaining about (Rick)

Well, mine is a gigabyte, but not OC'ed, and i doubt its wattage issue.
the glitches were not there with the old driver and in your qoute from the nvidia forum it is stated that:
"We will have to wait to see if new drivers solve anything, but I doubt they will as the older drivers still seem to cause issues."
since MP is crashing at the moment anyway and graphic patch should be made available very soon now (hopefully...), i will keep on waiting patiently.
It was important for me to notify the developers of this issue so it will be taken into account.

Hello Heinz,
Can you elaborate more on the voltage setup of the card? I don't have any other issues with the new drivers at any other sim / game so far.
If my card is not OC'ed, what are the correct voltage values and how do I set them up?

standard is 1.000V, in idle mode 0.95V , light OC versions have 1.025V...u can go up to 1.150V safely with OC without send ur card to the hell , some models get up to 1,200V, but just for extreme needed.... 1000Mhz GPU Clock u can reach with 1.130V, depend on model..( just as sidenote, since u not overclock)....
i use EVGA Precision for my card... u can use MSI Afterburner for change voltage, aswell

Well, 1.05V did the trick here as well, but I still don't know why changing drivers required manual intervention with the voltage regulation.
However - if anyone else has these problems, it seems like the solution.
thanks to all who helped.
edit - in very intense air combat (enemy plane very close, while firing guns) the artifacts still remains, much less than before and for a very brief time.
should i increase voltage again?
