Thanks for sharing.

SS is supposed to make a big hit on performance. In case an upcoming patch increases performance significantly, this can be useful.

Other methods like SMAA discussed here

This is not going to help me. I'm already using 2650 x 1600 (x 1.6 = 4240 x 3650). I'm sure my GTX 580 would protest:shock:. LOL

Hey peybolman!

Just wondering, did you ever try one of the SMAA or FXAA utils? i.e.

JSGME FXAA and SMAA utils (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=28978)

If you did, can you tell us how they compare to this method your described?

Thanks in advance

I already use all together. I mean SSAA(downsampling) + FXAA + SMAA

I use nvidia drivers v295.18 beta which are the only ones which support FXAA by hardware directly through the nvidia inspector tool. (I dont use the fxaa injector).

I also use SMAA injector.

I made tests of each by themselves.

SSAA is the one which makes more effect.

Could you please post some screenshots, and maybe an instructional setup / walk through?

Just for feedback (and thanks for the link btw), my spec is below my sig and native resolution is 1680x1050. My settings are AAx2, A-E FDilter off, SSAO off, Vsynch On, others set to High but with Forest Off, Buildings very low, Buildings amount Low, Grass off.

I created a custom 1900x1200 res and selected it in-game. It gave a marginal AA-type of improvement for things like airfield towers. My original frame rates were hammering the 60Hz refresh rate of the monitor but 1900x1200 gave me ~45fps on the ground and low 50's in the air. However the terrain suffered from tiny judders as I made turns and when I scanned with my TrackIR4/TIR5 software the judders were severe and unacceptable.

When I reselected 1680x1050 the return to smooth graphics and the very minor "AA" graphics reduction made it clear that downsampling like this isn't of benefit to my rig. So I wait for the official AA.

Good luck to anyone else though.
