just played a 3v2 cta game with me on the outnumbered team and went 61-7 and won the match had to brag a little about that one. I was going to post a screen shot of the score but last time I did that some sally's on here got offended lol so I won't. Oh and that was with a spit no bombs no rockets

yes it is very impressive but it depends of the game level of the oppoments and the time of the game...personnaly when i meet a new guys ,i try to don't do a "free carnage" because i remenber when i started to play a online planes game(blazing angels)i was very happy the aces let me did some moves and learn me how to fly...and the guys who are rookies today will be a aces tomorow ...the guys i beat yesterday beat me today... but yes 61 kills is an impressive score...

Let me guess, your team mate was your online and real life buddy who I met online for the fist time yesterday just prior to our historical missions. If so there is no surprise, that gentleman can do some serious damage. So much in fact, that opponents from the other team decided to quit the game.

You are very skillful virtual flyer, no doubt about that. But do you really need to remind the general public of this forum about that? We, that occasionally meet you in online games are fully aware of your skills, but as Olife put it very nicely, it all relative. Let me put it bluntly for you, sooner or later you will meet someone who will put your skills to shame. Do not worry, it won't be me, as I consider myself just slightly better that mediocre BoP player, especially in realistic difficulty mode. I hope you do not take this post of mine as something unfriendly or offensive. That is certainly not my intention. There is a very nice manual written by the guy who played this sort of online dogfights for more that a decade. In there he talks about the different mentality of online players (I think he mentions four major ones). Please do not let yourself became one of those “insuferable egomaniacs” that this author mentioned in that manual. Remember that your ego is you worst enemy in your life. You are a fairly young person (judging by the photos you posted from air museum) so you have plenty of time to work on yourself. Perhaps sharing a few tips with those “inept” dogfigthers is a good start. Here is the challenge for you: if I join your squadron, that is if you let me, will you help me improve my gunnery skills and perhaps my flying in realistic mode?

No my team mate was not pappy if it was I wouldnt have been bragging we do that to guys all the time once again not trying to be a ass just saying. My team mate in this match was foxy and he got 2 kills the whole match. And yes everyone can join my squad and I will help anyone who asks with settings or anything else weather in my squad or not. I do brag at times and I have gotten into some heated arguments but I will always play fair I will always bail I will play with anyone and if any of you have heard me on mic I don't talk trash to people in the game we are all here to have fun

Mavrick, can I ask exactly how long was the game you were playing? I'm wondering if you were dominating the CTA game that much why you hadn't captured the airfield and won before you could get anywhere close to that many kills. I'm afraid the impression I get is constant vulching (preying on defensless landing aircraft) ,and like the sniper in the Battlefield games, racking up many kills but not actually working towards the team game objective. Now I'd be impressed If you told me this was 61 kills and 7 deaths in a 30 minute TDM but I would still agree with Olife and Aquila.

We took the field and I killed them until tickets went to 0 I would say it was 15-20 mins. My best in TDM Is 43. You would think I made a post saying you all suck from the reactions lol seriously has any one ever seen 61 kills in s game let alone 61-7 unless it was a 2 hour game. Im just saying I thought it was a damn good score

And no, I did not think you meant to offend anybody, it's just that people generally do not like that attitude. Being boastful is indeed appropriate in some professions, even desired and appreciated in some (perhaps the military would be a good example), but generally not so. It is also true that you do not engage in badmouthing so please do not say that we interpreted your post as if you were degrading others or as you put it: “you all suck”. I certainly did not interpret your post as such.

That score of yours, although impressive, might not be the best, who knows. Speaking about impressive, I do not know if you ever met that guy that flew Fw-190D in sim mode? My first CTA game with him on opposing team gave me completely wrong impression of him. To cut a long story short, few days or weeks latter he was very kind to give me some pointers how to fly “impossible to fly” Fw-190D beast. And what he does with that aircraft still impresses me to this day. I've seen him in dogfights and team battles doing incredible flying/shooting and never to be concerned about the score. What I'm trying to say is that quite often we get the wrong impression about people even in real life let alone in this virtual world of ours.

Apologies to Pope for my remark about the cereals. Not all of them are bad, but here in the States the processed, boxed ones are awful.

Pope's remark was spot on, indeed it is very easy to rack up points that way (preying on defenseless landing aircraft). W and tr do that to me all the time when they are in opposing team and I'm not angry at them. Well I'm a little bit, but I'll keep them on my friends list, for now :)

Fortunately there is a “medicine” for preying on (not so) defenseless landing aircraft. It is called IL-10. Even more effective when done in combination with rain or stormy weather. It is always funny to watch player(s) leave CTA game lobby when I switch from lets say Yak-3 to IL-10. All of a sudden Spit's and Bf's do not look that threatening :rolleyes:

And yes we are all here to have fun! Are we?

1000 seconds is the max tickets is it not? (I don't remember as all our games are generaly 300 or 500). That is around 16 minutes, so give you 4 extra minutes to capture at the start, that is still averages over 3 kills a minute with only three people to shoot at and what about crashed kills? I wouldn't have thought that even possible. Well one thing is for sure, the other team players (if they were actualy controling their planes) wouldn't have had much time in the air, and certainly wouldn't have enjoyed themselves.

Well I'm sorry but I will never -in any game- be impressed by spawn camping or base raping.

Birds of Prey isn't a game with an unlimited amount of players like modern warfare or battlefield. When you find a player in BoP you want to make sure they are enjoying their time so that they come back for more. Those guys you played are now probably not too keen on playing you again.

When I host sim dogfights looking for new people I always acertain the enemies skill level and play acordingly, I could easily completely humiliate them but that would only send them straight back to realistic.
When I host with my friends I like to have evenly skilled teams so a new player has the chance of winning, if my team is dominating I let off the pressure and sometimes start showboating doing tail slides and spins, I love buzzing over landed planes without firing and yes sometimes I even let the enemy take the field. To dictate the game and control the score to create a close win and enjoyment allround - is a higher form of domination. :twisted:

In TDM You need to give yourself challenges. Tell yourself "this is real, this is my only life". and fly the more difficult planes. I remember a 10 minute realistic game I once played flying the P-51D against some of the best players in realistic. The winner in a spit ix had about 10 kills and maybe 9 deaths. I had 3 kills and 0 deaths and felt like I had won.

For one Dave I hardly ever even use my mic so I wouldn't be chatting in your room and 2 I have played you more then once I doubt I was lagging everytime and yeah I did flip out on you a little it pissed me off that you called me a cheater and if it was lagging so bad why did you play 19:30 of a 20 min game before quiting? But i will admit most of our fighting as been my fualt for holding on to that for so long the main thing i was pissed about was that i know you are one of the top guys in this game and to play a whole game then quit with 30 sec left looked to me like you just got pissed and quit so sorry if you were lagging it wasnt on my end and maybe a simple message saying that would have prevented our fighting lol and I like sim but can't find a lot of games going it seems to have died on ps3 or is not going on when I am on. And now that I have had a good nights sleep I can see where some of my remarks prior to me getting pissed and going on a rant can be taken as me being arrogant it was not my intention when I started this thread and I did flip out some when I got pissed so sorry I do have a fighting side at time it was kinda ingrained ine when I was a marine so like I said sorry for being a ass once again lol and Dave sorry for holding s grudge for so long if you do want to let me into tour games I will follow your rules in your games if not that's fine too I just hope we can all enjoy the last few months before bos comes out

But to be fair i have to agree with the majority on this one mate. Spawn camping or "base raping" as i've just seen it be called, isn't the done thing. Especially on here. This community has survived a couple of years now and numbers are dwindling slowly. Theirs a BoS website now, but to me...its just not this one. This one feels like home :D

We need all the players to stick around, keep the numbers up. So you have to for the sake of the game and so that you have someone to play with in future let them have a shot at winning.

I'm not saying LET them win the game, i'm just saying don't take it so seriously. Become a teacher to them, show them the ropes, let them shoot you down a few times,show them where they've gone wrong or where they can improve. Just try to keep them in the game and enjoying it.

Also.... as impressive as the score is (though on xbox everyone usually tallies at least 65 a night ;) ) its degrading to those who you killed that many times to come on here and boast about it. I'm not saying DONT, im just saying maybe think a little more in future mate :D and then perhaps practise on sim mode then get onto the 360 and see how you fare up against the real pilots haha. Not the PS3's weekend warriors.... (i joke guys)

More than anything else though.. Just enjoy the game :) thats all we can ask eh. Jump straight into sim mode on BoS, see how different it can be.

And off topic... Pope what a shit cereal to have in the morning haha. You want weetabix with cocopops mixed in. Cant go wrong :D

Yeah the xbox guys (the regulard anyway) get anywhere between 50 and 70 kills a night per game. On sim to. More hardcore on the 360 you see ;)

You'll find though if your skills are as good as you say they are then on sim more you'll get double the amount you got their ;)

Sims like hardcore mode on call of duty... health is much less so just a couple of well placed rounds will send you hurtling to earth. Its just the icons etc and external views that are missing ;)

I meant to “bail out” from this discussion thread as it really turned bad, I agree with you on that, but not before I add this. I repeat, I did not say to you that you are “ego maniac”. Perhaps you do have a little bit inflated ego by your own admission. I simply can not let you put the words in my mouth. And you, or anybody else for that matter, will never hear a bad word from me. Uttering a bad word is like a toothpaste, once it's out you can never put it back, or perhaps you can, but it will be very messy. Here is what I said (simple copy/paste from my fist reply):

Having said that it is your right to became whatever you want and play this game in whatever way you want. We live in a free country!

Even though the discussion turned bad, a couple of good points were raised by everyone. Newcomers who want some fun flying should not be discouraged from playing this game as they will eventually find a group of players that play for the same reason(s). Let those who use this game as some sort of proving ground find their equals and battle it out. Even better, as we are coming close to release of BoS we will have the opportunity to play co-op missions with our proven friends and avoid real and imagined “aces” of virtual skies if we choose to do so.

Holy crap!!! This thing got way out of hand. I think that we all just need to start over. I think we should just all start with a clean slate. I know for a fact Me and mav will always, no matter who it is, help when it's asked for. I know we can get carried away and at times we need to be notified of that. I know the other night I got carried away with my ego and someone let me know and I acted a lot better after that. I just hope we can all be friends and can play everyone we can. I want us all to have fun and continue playing together. Everything that happened in the past, let's keep it there and move on. I love this game very much and it has helped me get through a lot of stuff in my life that happened recently. (divorce, leaving a home i created with her) But as sad as it sounds, all of you who play this game and people I have met through this game have helped out a lot and i am grateful for that. I hope we can all get along and make this a great experience for all who play. New and older players. Thank you
