Hi all!
Just wanted to say I'm a long long long time il2 gamer and enjoying "clod" very much! My problem is this,I've been playing the game for two days without a hicup (well if u like not having AA in the game...hope there's a fix for that in the near future) anyways the last few hours "clod" keeps crashing and I'm not sure why and I keep getting this error:
Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01: launcher.exe
Problem Signature 02: 1.0.0.0
Problem Signature 03: 4d6e3d08
Problem Signature 04: core
Problem Signature 05: 1.0.0.0
Problem Signature 06: 4e983b5b
Problem Signature 07: 12
Problem Signature 08: 24
Problem Signature 09: System.AccessViolationException
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
Locale ID: 4105
If any one has had this before please let me no as this is becoming very annoying:-x
Thx James,

Hi
There's a known bug with a memory leak that's soon to be fixed, meanwhile you can do the following.
Do a file integrity check via Steam
Start Steam
Games
IL2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover>right click>properties>Local files>verify integrity of game cache
It should update any problems if the games corrupted.
Also re-instal the .Net package located here.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\redist\DotNetFx40_Client
BTW:
Are you using Vista on a HP machine ?
.

As far as my vista on hp no way! this is a home built pc;)
Hope this helps James,

Your system is better than mine, yet I rarely get launcher.exe CTD's or screen freeze-ups even though I fly online almost daily for 1 - 2 hours. One thing I do prior to a session is a little chore: i go into C:\My Documents\Librairies\1C Softclub\IL2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover and delete the Cache folder. Completely. (This also deletes the Shaders subfolder within). Have no fear - a new Cache folder is created the instant you fire up CoD to play. Since I started doing this: no crashes. A couple of times I deliberately neglected to delete this Cache folder and within several sessions I began to get the dreaded launcher.exe crashes again. Dunno why this hasvworked for me and others online, but it does. This is not my original idea; I got this by suggestion off another forum.
Other performance tips:
Go into C:\Programs (x86)\Steam\Steam Apps\Common\Il2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover. Locate the launcher.exe file, right mouse click on it, then select Properties. Click in the little box (to make a checkmark) beside "Disable Desktop Composition". Click Apply/OK
If you are ofthe many that have downloaded earlier beta patches.....heed this well: Go to your PC's Windows Control Panel to Install/Uninstall and use this to completely uninstall Cliffs of Dover from your PC! Then check your C drive to ensure it's totally gone - delete any CoD file remaining.....including the 1C Softclub folder. Then open Steam and have it reinstall a fresh (and uncorrupted) copy of the latest retail version of Cliffs of Dover. I was a little skeptical until I tried it. HUGE improvement in smoothness, stability, and even in framerates. (You may wish to first save and rename your confuser.ini file temporarily to plug back into your fresh copy of CoD to retain your joystick settings -- such a pain otherwise to remap all those controls back to your joystick!!!!)
Good luck!

Try using the anti-virus I'm using, its free! get it at Microsoft, and give it full control meaning the firewall, excellent program...then download CCleaner and run that, also free...then look here and follow the suggestions. good luck!

I do not run an Anti Virus program in the background to free up my cpu and memory. I have run CC Cleaner too. Still I have freeze-ups and Launcher crashes. I also play many other graphic intense games at a high resolution with no problems.
I did get this to work for a short time at the lowest video setting. But then it began to crash at that setting too.
Getting frustrated! Any other help is appreciated. Thanks..

I have read all the discussions in this board about launcher problems and still i can't get it to work. I installed Cliffs of Dover, Steam installed the patch. When i start CloD in Steam, there is a short sign of a logo, then nothing happens. No error-report, nothing.
My Sys:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
MSI P35 Neo2
4 GB Ram
Gigabyte GTX 470 SOC
Nvidia 295.73
Win7 64
I reinstalled DotNetFX 4.0 and Visual C++ without any difference.
No i have no clue what to try to get the thing running...

I had a similar problem with my Launcher.exe where it failed and would either not launch or crash. Found that the problem was connected to removal of some software that I had deleted. It had taken out some "shared" dll's that were required by CoD. A re-install of SP1 for W7 resolved the problem and have not had any further problems. Also check and see if you have had any recent MS updates that might be corrupted, if you have try system restore and see if that cures the problem. When you get a lot of updates all trying to install at once for some reason some get corrupted during the process.
