View Full Version : Those with NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti - can you replay The Black Death track with High video?

I am asking because CLOD will always freeze completely at the very same point in time, just a second from the attached screenshot, even though average FPS is not bad up to that point.

If you have Nvidia GTX 560 Ti with 32-bit Windows 7, and you can re-play this benchmark track on your machine with High setting, please let me know so that we can compare our settings (3dmark, dxdiag, Nvidia performance monitor etc.), instead of guessing.

Thanks in advance.

Works fine on mine.

Hi, thanks, here are my details, can you please compare with yours?
Or post your data for me, so that I can compare with mine.

CLOD: conf.ini attached.
Version: 1.05.15950
I run it in 1680x1050@60Hz, only configured via game menu, no advanced settings, no special changes in conf.ini.
It's not only the Black Death track, which freezes, I also have random freezes in quick missions. In some cases, the game seems to continue running, e.g., responds to throttle with RPM change, but in most cases, the entire application stops.
I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del and call task manager to get out from the full-screen mode and acknowledge the "Launcher stopped working" pop-up window.

3DMark11: attached.
Gave my system P4319 result, with latest WHQL drivers 285.62.
Is this a low figure compared to your system?

DxDiag: attached.
This is after updating NVIDIA driver to latest Beta 290.53
(No change in behaviour).

NVMonitor log: attached.
This shows when the track starts to play.
Memory usages, CPU usage, CPU temperatures OK.
GPU temperature increases to 57 Celsius, also OK.
There are 5 notable events:
1) Fri Dec 30 08:47:56 2011 - GPU load shoots from 59% to 99%
2) Fri Dec 30 08:48:03 2011 - CPU loads drastically drop back , CPU #1 from 81% to 31%, while GPU load is still 99% - might be due to GPU bottleneck onset and freezing the display
3) Fri Dec 30 08:48:10 2011 - GPU load drops to 89%, CPU picks up again, CPU #1 back go 81% - GPU bottleneck over?
4) Fri Dec 30 08:48:17 2011 - GPU load goes 90%, but CPU load is cut completely - this might be when CLOD actually crashes
5) Fri Dec 30 08:48:23 2011 - GPU load drops to 0% - this might be Ctrl-Alt-Del calling up the normal Windows display, no more 3D acceleration.

It would be interesting to see the same for your machine, I wonder about the GPU loads and temperatures you get.

Any other comments or questions are also appreciated.

Hi rnzoli.
I have same PC as you, exept i OC-ed 2500k to modest ) 4.5 GHz.
I was on Win 7 32-bit without problems ( exept sound bug )
till the last two betas and official patch.
Then i had constant problem with launcher.

I installed new OS 64-bit and problems are mostly gone.
I had launcher crashes, but very rare and mostly when Im doing
something in the menus.

I'm not shure what solved the problem, reinstall of OS or the sim,
but I monitored the RAM usage on 32-bit Win and there was no RAM shortage.

I suggest you try to reinstall il2 first, and if that doesnt help
I think that 64 bit system will solve your problem.

Thanks a lot vranac, much appreciated.
It looks like you, Dano and adonys has 64-bit OS with the GTX 560 Ti card.

The irony is that back in September, I deliberately chose 32-bit OS to backward compatible with older games, like IL-2 1946. I could have got 64-bit OS (OEM-version) at nearly same price! But now getting another OS (boxed version) would cost a fortune (twice), so it's a no-go, I will simply ditch CloD if it cannot be fixed for 32-bit.

In the meanwhile I ran an install verification on my CloD installation, all fine.

But the question still remains in a little bit different form - anyone got GTX 560 with 32-bit OS, running CloD fine?

The system specs don't indicate any 32 or 64 bit preference, so if the crashes only occur with the 32-bit versions of Windows, this is more like a bug, and not a performance issue at all. I will try to collect some crash dumps and post it as a bug candidate.

Window 7 licence key is valid for either 32 or 64bit OS, you just need to reinstall using 64bit media :)

I have not run into any backwards compatible issues with 32bit software. IL-2 1946 runs just fine. It's too bad you didn't get it initially.

But yes, just find the 64bit install disc and your key will work just fine.

Thanks a lot for this valuable information as well, I will try to put my hands on a 64 bit disk somewhere!

I will the try to install it however, as an additional bootable OS, not replacing the current one (32 bit), just in case of problems to obtain older device drivers in 64-bit version.

If you're in doubt then set up a dual boot system with both 32bit and 64bit windows 7. Then you can keep all your current 32bit stuff while you have a second win7 in 64bit just for CloD for example. Will work with one and the same serial key perfectly. It's what I have done.

Hi, i went from win7 32 to 64 I dint want to as i own an old Graphite wacom bord wich would cost abundle to replace.
It used to ber a #$%^& to get this working on 64 but lately support for thes sort of items is much better.
I also made a dual boot but actually never use the 32 bit any more.
Win7 64 installes old 32 bit software in C:/Program Files (x86) and runs fine.
COD also runs smooth now ocasional Launcher.exe ^%&*( wil occur but not to often.
Game resolution 1920 x 1080 everything is high except shadows.
Usual FPS is screen refresh.
ve put of the ingame antialiasing and have nvidia doing that now with acceptble results.
