The Australians United Squadron (aus.no-ip.org) introduces our Nations@War COD game server. The box is located in Hobart Australia (GMT+10). We'd be pleased if you want to give it a go. A basic server page can be found HERE (aus.no-ip.org/aus/nations@war/cod/)
AUS_Nations@War server settings are now full switch - anthropomorphic control off; plane/side switching OK.
The current mission will randomly launch red & blue sub-missions every 15 - 30 minutes. Mission are mainly between Lympne airfield England and the Marquise area of France. You could get small or large bombers formations (with or without escorts), fighter flights, or even the occassional "hunting" fighter section.
Feedback is very welcome, as I'm learning scripting as I go.
Enjoy :)

Good stuff. I drop in from time to time but there always seem to be so many clouds compared to ATAG. Is this my bad timing or is weather scripting a bit more aggressive? They bring my rig to its knees.

Yes, weather scripting was more ??? realistic :-P for weather over the Channel. Fronts produced more clouds. Bearing in mind rig limitations I've removed weather fronts.

Thanks. I agree more realistic but unfortunately too much at the moment. Maybe after the next patch. Can you say which evenings have the most players online?

I'm trying to keep the server up & running 24/7. We had 4 players online tonight (Monday 8.30 AEST), but don't let that put anyone off joining. There are plenty of AI's of various skill levels on both sides.

Cheers, I'll have to give this a go, my rig is also at it's limit but that combined with large pings to europe or US servers was just killing me.
Being in Brisbane, this may help me a bit.

Hi Salmo, i had a fly today and it went well, I was the only one there though...:)
Messages kept popping up say there was a huge enemy force building up at E2 (or something like that ) but i could never find a thing. I was at 13,000.
Is this just a fake message to draw eveyone together for a furball or were there really supposed to be planes there?
Anyway, thanks for putting up the server, i'll have to give it a go another time when it's busier and see how i go.

Hi Salmo,
Thanks for going to the effort to put up an Australian based server.
I have visited your server from time to time but mainly fly ATAG. For "full switch" pilots I think ATAG has a good following.
Rather than competing with ATAG on the same settings (ie full switch) why not offer pilots a different on-line experience. Allow outside views or whatever range of settings you think might be interesting. Even if you could program a particular day(s) of the week for the "easier" settings.
Might be an attractive option for noobs to the on-line experience or even the veterans who want some variety.

I'm more than happy to vary setting etc as the server develops. At the moment we have full switch, but this may change in the future. BTW that's a nice sig pic you have. Where'd you get it? :!:

I was glad to read your reasonable response, salmo. I prefer full switch myself but am concerned about accessibility for new players. I can only imagine how difficult no icons would be without freetrack or trackir!

The sig pic is a slightly modified version of RAAF_Furball's. I understand his son put it together for him.

Hi salmo, no teamspeak channel for this server I think? Just finished getting nailed by a pair of 109s - thanks for the effort with the server!

Suggestion for the server: please move the front lines away from the coast. It is difficult to pick out the coastal landmarks with the red and blue lines directly over them.

Hi Salmo,
Thanks for the server, nice to see one in Aus. Have been in a couple of times, my problem seems to be a lot slower fps on my rig (20-30 max on medium settings) compared to ATAG (50-60 max on medium settings). Noted that you have a lot more clouds, not sure whether that or something else brings my rig to it's knees.

Clouds have been reduced. Players report improved fps

Funny how information gets distorted  The graphic is entirely my own creation, made by me from the ground up. Only the text & RAAF logo have been added.

I have a problem with the server & need advice. lately, it's been "crashing" every 20 - 120 minutes. What I mean is that the console is still open but no longer accept input, the battle script stops operating & the server disappears from the COD in-game server list. When in-game & this ocurs, I get a connection with host lost: timeout error & disconnection. I am clearing the COD cache every time the battle server starts.

Hi salmo,
So, your not Fur's long lost son by any chance! lol! The originator was mentioned once in passing, perhaps I misunderstood Fur. Anyway, nice work!
