Is it true that if you rename the intro movie, that the game runs a lot faster? I dont want to change anything..:(
Just delete it, it can have an adverse effect on ATI cards I believe, forcing them to clock down processing speeds.

I've done it but not noticed any difference. I have nVidia GPU's though....

It helps if you have a Ati but it have no effect on NVidia.
I've a Ati, after deleting/renaming i get less stutters.

for me it helped a lot in performance...i can really recommend it if you have an ATI card

IIRC it comes back with every game update, so you have to redo it.

Yep, helped me, what is weird that devs do nothing for it, only we get same **** again in every patch.
I think it is not fullscreen application and your ATI goes to 2D speed and not changing to 3D speeds when game starts.

I tried it after work, works like a dream!! Literally can't believe how much difference it made:grin::grin::grin::grin:

I've got an Ati Radion Graphics card.. This was like a magic bullet, game runs real smooth now.. Feels like someones slapped a super patch on..

The retardation of the developers is mindblowing. Here we have an issue that affects nearly 1/2 the gaming market, and would probably only take them a day to fix, yet they're doing nothing.
Are they too busy making 5MB+ textures of Luftwaffe ground-crew underwear?

So its the CoD devs fault that ATI cant produce a driver that stops the problem ?
A pop at the devs and a pop at the Luftwaffe in a post that's accusing others of retardation.
Anymore nonsense and its a holiday for you.

You really want to blame this on ATI/AMD? Just like the 3 blue lines...?
I have a feeling its the code and not the drivers..we have attempted to fix this for half a year. AMD says they can't replicate the problem which is B.S.

What ??
were talking about the intro movie not the horizon lines,
Take a deep breath and read the actual thread correctly, its not affecting Nvidia users its just a movie file whats that got to do with the code.
the fix is rename/remove the file.

I did read it! I'm not even sure what movie you guys are talking about...I've never seen one when I start the game.
I get the gunsight, then the epilepsy warning, hit spacebar then goes to game menu. Am I missing the movie?

The 1C logo splash screen, depending what language version you have of the sim its going to be yellow or green, earlier versions had the black and blue UBIsoft logo.

OK..i get ya, mine is a blue and black ubisoft logo.
I normally join the ATAG server from the stats webpage. It just displays the gunsight with a plane in it then goes right to loading the map. I checked and my ATI card isn't effected by this as I'm getting full speed.
I'll check when I go to the client lobby and join that way!

Are you a coder? Do you have proof it's an ATI driver issue and not a 1c issue? If so, then share it. If not, then you're just flexing your moderator muscle to win an online argument.

So if Nvidia users don't suffer the problem, its the CoD code then causing ATI software to run at slow speeds because of an Windows Media Audio/Video file (.wmv) is what you are saying ??
Who's arguing I'm just pointing out to a reported abusive post from a member, that calling the devs retards is retarded.
ATI probably doesn't feel that CoD is big enough to warrant their attention. You'd think with as huge of a staff as they've got, someone could spend 20 minutes to fix it.
Correct, they're not as forthcoming in the development as Nvidia were/are.

I am pretty sure that soon ,once the 1c devs have their new graffics engine up and running and tested as stable ,that BOTH Ati & Nvidia support will be happy to do some work on profiles for the game.
To do so before would be a waste of time and effort .
Problems were encountered With Rise of Flight & Ati support worked with Jason of the 777 team to deliver a profile that is now included in the AMD Cap files .
The logo is a .wmv (windows movie file) and is probably passed of to the Windows Media player (see the .Net class library namespace System.Windows.MediaPlayer) thus not directly coded by the developer. If you double click that file it will open in the Windows Media Player which probably uses the same .Net class library. At least, that's the way I would do it. Writing code to play a movie would be pretty complicated and stupid when it is already available.

Talked to a AMD tester about CoD and his answer was pretty blunt: Until CoD graphics code is ready why even make a driver for it. So go figure. nVidia has it's problems with CoD as well, not pure bliss there either. I wish that both NV and AMD would do proper drivers for CoD when it reaches good enough state. RoF works now on both brands and the dev team has been active on that too. So we have hope :)

logo.vmw Alpha, seen nVidia "in action" with CoD and does have same stuff happening as AMD rigs ;) Anyways..when Luthier's team gets the GFX engine to a state where it works "as intended" then we might see better driver support from green/red team. And mind you..CoD is the ONLY game I have graphical issues with so calling AMD worse in driver support is just not warranted.

Fault is in how ATI detects 2D/3D applications, and how it chooses power saving/performance modes. ATI uses low performance mode for intro movie (correct behavior), but it does not switch to higher once in a GUI/3D world (incorrect behavior). If you remove intro movie, game skips its playback, and ATI does not enter that low performance mode at start of the game.

Steve, check in X:\Program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 CoD\parts\core\GUI\ Delete or rename LOGO.VMW and good to go.

Hmmmm.......
I renamed the file, started the game had saw the little airplane in the sight logo then a black screen with nothing happening, so i deleted it, tried the game again with the same result.
I put the file back, renamed it to it's orignal name, and everything is fine......
Did i do something wrong?
Steve.

Without the UBI-logo the game starts with the sight + plane then goes black for a moment before the game appears. Depending on your system the time varies. Deleting or renaming this logo.wmv should not affect rest óf the game or it's starting up.
