Hey there all,
Just thought I'd check in to see if there are any Aussie/Kiwi pilots looking for a squad to fly with? As this game's getting better and better it really is made much more enjoyable through flying on comms with like-minded pilots!
RAAF are ramping up our cliffs presence and would welcome any pilots looking for a group to fly with for co-op and inter-squad matches. We prediminately fly on the ATAG server and usually fly allies. We're pretty relaxed, we have the odd optional training sessions and pilots are free to fly with us as often or as little as they like.
Check out our forums:

Or feel free to drop me a PM if you are interested. Also jump on TS3 most nights from 8:30pm Melbourne/Sydney time.

I have an interest in joining a squadron to try out CoDs engine, I'm a seasoned WW2 sim user and developer but I've not been really active in any sim since I stopped my dev work on Target Rabaul. There are a number of vRAAFies watching in the background waiting to see if CoD is worth a look. As one of the founding fathers of Warbirds RAAF Squadron back in the late 90's, so I understand the benefits of a squadron.
Perhaps we could team up to do some testing, it's always better to fly together to get a balanced feel.
My previous passtime was building flight models and some 3D (and other aspects) of Target Rabaul, which included running the development and RAAF game servers. My real passion is the Pacific Theatre, and as such CoD has much less interest to me than it could have if P40s and A6Ms were involved in battle over Mile Bay. There are a many of us TR Aussies lurking in the background hoping that this option could eventuate one day, perhaps an off-shoot of CoD??
I do have a HD full of core flight tested data and schematics on RAAF and Japanese aircraft, I use this to verify accuracy of flight performance, that's my other passion. This sometimes flies in the face of what popular history would have us believe (and what some game developers would like to see to have the sim earn more money), but I feel data is the key to a good sim. If game creators are honest about the quest for accuracy they have nothing to fear from core tested data. In the past older IL-2 varients have been wanting in the area of flight models accuracy IMHO, but from what I have seen of CoD is at least looking to improve on this situation. I'm sure we all understand the push for visual accuracy, it drives the market, but just like with a good women I hope for more depth to keep me happy. Anyway, enough waffle.

I don't currently have TS installed, but that is easily fixed. If you can wait until Dec 17th I'll have more time to fly with you as I'm on leave then.

Hi Peril
Thanks for your reply mate. Yeah it certainly sounds like you know your stuff and I'd be more than happy to jump online for some testing anytime. I'm sure cliffs will be expanding the plane set and continuing to develop over time. As it is dozens of us are really enjoying the game as it is and the flight model and feel of flight is I believe unequalled in flight simming at the moment.
As a squad we dont have any minimum commitments as to how much you fly, we are just about flying together whenever you can make it with like-minded players. We try to mix it up with casual sorties and are aiming to bring in some co-op missions and intersquad stuff in the coming weeks/months.
By all means check in after Dec 17th, alternatively my Steam ID is:

Feel free to add me as a friend and then drop me a msg anytime you see me online. Looking forward to chatting,

Thanks, that sounds OK.
My system is only just coping with CoD, although it's getting better with each patch it seems, I should steel my sons GTX560Ti back. I just brought him a new system yesterday for Battlefield 3 and for the first time his system is better than mine :) hehee.
Do you use Skype?

I'll get online sometime in the future but prefer historic scenarios to 'fur-balls'

Hey there Drewpee - we will be online this Monday and Tuesday nights from 8:30pm Melbourne time - feel free to drop by to say hello.
Likewise, as per my post above to Peril - "friend" me on Steam, its easy then to see when we are ingame and online!
HE111, we only really fly the historical map on ATAG server, often from the outer fields to enable us to form up and utilise squad tactics. Again mate feel free to drop by anytime, its a lot of fun and we stay well clear of the "airquake" servers! :)
Just wanted to post a quick thanks Recon. :-)
I had a flight with him using teamspeak on the ATAG server tonight and it is a completely different world to flying alone. I really enjoyed myself mate, so thanks a lot, and thanks to the other lads from the RAAF I met tonight.
I am going to be smiling for a full 24 hours until my next flight!

Geees louise, I don't remember reading minimum specs were so high for CoD? Sorry guys, it's poor designing if I'm not even able to get off the ground with this system online using low res. Flew online a few months ago no problems, so we all know it can be done if they want to support it.
GA-P67A-UD3-B3 MB
i5-2500 3.3G 6MB cache LGA1155 95W CPU
4G DDR3 RAM
Nvidia GTX 260 driver version 275.33
CH Fighterstick
Perils Pedals
Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit OS
That cant be good for business to set minimum so high, my system is no slouch but I'm told I need minimum 64bit, 8 gig ram and GTX580 or the server kills my connection because I'm too slow?
Can't afford that, just brought a system last week for my son, it's only a GTX 560 and that sent me broke.

I flew tonight (call sign Head_Shot) and got my 109 chewed up by 4 RAAF Spitfires. Lucky for me Trumps cleared my tail enough to get home. It was my first time using TEAM SPEAK and I can tell you it gave a 4 dimension to the game. A great way to get advice. I had a few launcher crashes just when it got busy but all in all a good night. Thanks guys.

Lol, great work Drewpee, yeah we had quite a few of us on there last night, it was a really good night. (Likewise a few lanucher crashes, but they are easy enough to get over)...
Some great flying from both sides last night, I think I may have been one of those spits- a couple of pretty beat-up 109's managed to get away - there was some great teamwork all round with pilots from both sides coming to help out colleagues who were in trouble!
Next Monday or Tuesday if you fancy flying red for a bit, come over to RAAF comms Drewpee, you're always welcome! :)
