Hi, for those of you using an older PC. that is still running Windows 7 32-bit system, I may have good news for you. I just downloaded the new 285.62 Nvidia Drivers System for 32 bit Windows7 and wow!, what an improvement. I went from barely playible at 12 to 15 frames a sec. to over 75fps. without vsync. and maxed out at 60 fps. with vsync enabled. That is with everything set on Max./High..........No more shuttering ....it is now truely a great game as witnessed by others with a 64 bit high end system....my system is Intel Quad2 core Q 9450 2.66 gigs CPU, 4 gigs ram. and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 285 1 gig. video card. I thought I would pass this along to other users of a 32 bit windows 7 system....and of course I have the latest patch V1.05.15950 of COD....good luck.......

Is love to see a before and after video. That kind of performance gain is quite unheard of, for any game.

LOL, an older pc with win7 32bit, if that is older than why are people still demanding xp support for this game?

Anyways, something magical must have happened between the beta driver and the new whql driver. I at least didn't notice any performance gain with the latest beta driver, but since it's now whql I'll download and install it at some point soon anyways.

If you are happy, we are happy :)

The only thing that annoys me I that I already have these drivers loaded. Tell me the specs of your PC and I will run to buy the same ;)

On a more serious note, good for you, you are lucky you can enjoy the game now!!!!

Obviously the new driver installation did some changes somewhere and unleashed a whole lot of power!
If it can happen? I can say yes, we had that same experience back in 2004 when we were running IL2 with the ATI Catalyst 4.9 drivers but with the ATI 4.7 atioglxx.dll and had 50% higher fps with the same quality (we had 9800pro and X800 cards those days....).

I wish we could find what it is and I wish it could do the same to my Win7-64bit...

Is it worth updating to them though?

I'm on the 280.26 set.

Same performance here and with some crashes in Firefox.

No discernable improvement in game with latest drivers, but strangely I get driver crashes after I close the game. Peculiar.

I'm sorry to those who don't believe me.....all I did was upgrade from the 280.26 32 bit drivers I had, to the new (non-beta) 285.62 32 bit drivers that came out several days ago, and went from 12 to 15 fps. to 0ver 55 fps......I had cleared out and removed all traces of any Nvidia drivers and applications from my computer and started over with the whole WHQL 285.62 32 bit driver system and thats all....I have no Idea what it did to my system, but it took off.....:).......

You edited your first post from 125FPS to 75FPS. If you go down a little bit MAYBE we can see that new drivers works nice in some perfromance bost in the 285. ;)

Absolutely!

I have them, the game runs nice and smooth, I even dropped SLI and run it on a single GTX570 as I have the fps (60fps at 3072x1024) and it is very smooth.

Jesus guys, what a bunch of self-congratulatory cynics.

Why would the OP even bother to come here and tell us if it wasn't true for him?

Perhaps the fact that he cleared entirely anything to do with his existing Nvidia drivers may have been the answer, maybe that was holding him back, but that at least is worthwhile info for anyone suffering similar problems and much more worth consideration than e-peening "its BS".

When I installed the second beta patch my fps went from 50-60 to 25-30.
Also when I installed the official patch it was still 25-30 fps and looked bad.
I changed the drivers and changed the resolution and wham 50-60 fps smoother than ever :)
maybe you were having the same glitch as me causing low fps.

I just tested the quick missions and they all run 60fps solid in most conditions. Game now runs better and smoother than IL2 46 ever did.

Also SLI seems to have improved too but still much smoother on a single card.

It's BS because of logic not e-peening because:

A) Editing his post from 125fps down is much more evidence of e-peening as you like to call it. Sounds to me like he compared his worst frame rate over London to an open sky view post driver install with a bunch of video settings changes thrown in to get his 800% improvement. Nobody is getting an average fps of 125fps. Starting to sound more like BS (or a bad case of apples and oranges) to you now?

B) nobody else is getting even close to that kind of improvement in this thread with the driver change.

Try using your noodle instead of assuming anyone gives a crap if someone else is getting great frame rates out of jealousy or whatever.

Seriously think first then post. I'm sure the OP can manage the responses just fine on his own.

First of all I didn't see his 125fps - which he had obviously already edited to 75 'due to misprint'. People make mistakes. You can surely believe 75 can't you? Mine's 60 clamped to my monitor refresh and would be much higher if it wasn't.

He also didn't come on here bragging, he offered the info with a kindly "I may have good news for you".

I have no reason to disbelieve what he says, it sounds reasonable to me and who are you to decide how he compared his results? In any case his current situation is clear, believable and offers some possibility to others who will give a crap if it helps them, more than your arrogant 'slam the door in his face' attitude.

We are supposed to be helping eachother on this forum not kicking someone just because you want to feel big about yourself.

As for him looking after himself, I'm sure he can but this is about me having had a gutful of negative knockers like you. If you can't find something constructive or helpful to say keep quiet.

Yeah OP is obviously confused unless there is some magical way the sim runs perfectly on his unique old world setup....which means everybody will need to downgrade to his rig which is running perfectly...which logically seems mathematically improbable

Sounds like maybe he is getting 60fps outside the plane over the channel sure...

But 60fps over London with bombers and clouds while in the cockpit and trackir? There is no way with that setup....obviously. Perhaps he just excitedly posted the improvement without really testing over London with planes, etc.

Ok, deep breath...

I think you're getting too worked up about this and reading far more into it than is there. I call BS on the numbers for the simple reason that it is way too big a jump for a driver upgrade and the other responses corroborate.

You're assuming I'm just trying to be a dick about it and I'm not. I think we're all smart enough to figure out the disparity is from other things than a magical 800% jump in frame rate from a driver update so I felt no need to expand on that just to cushion yours or the OP's sensibilities. I'm sure he's a big boy and can take it without getting butthurt and I know you have the best intentions to shield him.

It's all good! :)

Exaggeration aside, it's very likely more a matter of something being wrong with his old driver install than an actual driver improvement.

:):)Sorry Guys, I didn't want to start a war here....lol....that wasn't my intention....I am not a computer techno-guru like some of you here and my only intention was to try to help others who have been struggling to get COD. to run effectively on a 32 bit system like mine.......yes, now that I have tested it in some populated areas and with numerous planes in the air(as many as 42).....I'm not getting the max'ed 60 fps. now, but it is staying anywhere from 36 to 52 fps. and it is a whole lot better than the 8-15 fps. I was getting before the most recent COD. update and with the 280.26 32 bit drivers that I was using before......after struggling for over six months to get any playiblity from the game that I felt I had wasted my money on, I did get a little overzealliuos and excited.....lol...........so if my posting here has helped anyone, that was my only intention....carry on.....:)......

Perfectly understandable flightdok. No big deal in my book. There's a read me for the new drivers if anyone cares to look to see what actually has changed.

W/ 32 bit and clod, i wonder if anyone experimented with ram settings in bios. Things like single channel mode verses dual channel, channel interlacing on/off, running ganged verses unganged...etc. Just another shot in the dark. Maybe it would help with some systems and the stuttering.

No war, at least from me. And I wasn't saying you are a BS'er, just that the original numbers (even 75fps) are BS. We're all aware that it's likely some driver issue you had in combination with some non-technical impressions that the driver upgrade took care of, not that you were intentionally misleading anyone.

Sounds like you got that and just some other people were getting all butthurt for you, lol.

Anyway, congrats on getting the framerate up to a playable level!

Seems to be better by a bit on 64bit machine too.
