I need really help with these f***ing pop up windows in the GUI. I damn cannot click on it. Now on some online maps I would have to fly a plane that I do not want to just because I can not select another plane by clicking on the darn popup menue.

This is really driving me crazy

As these popup windows appear only in the GUI and not in the mission I cannot use the ingame screenshot button. Fraps does not work either, it just takes a screenshot from the screen as if these popup windows were not there.
(perhaps this may be linked to the cause of the problem, that these popup windows are somewhat not so much really there).

So I have made a picture with my old cell phone so the quality is really bad.

This is the popup window (FLUGZEUGWAHL translated to Plane selection) where this bug is the second most annoying (the most annoying is when I want to assign a key and I cannot click on the buttons in the popup menue for a specific keybind):

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5626/foto0020hr.jpg

The menue window with the plane pictures in it is what I call a popup window or popup menue. I cannot click on anything within any popup window with my mouse after having played Clod for a while.

NOTA: after having played Clod for a few minutes this bug appears for ALL popup windows in the game (plane selection, exit popup windows from server and from game, keybinding popup menues, ...).

I can usually access the buttons in the popup menues (like ok, yes, cancel) by using TAB and ENTER. But when I am about to change a keybinding and I press TAB to access the OK button it overrides my initial keybinding and thinks I want to assign TAB to this function.

I also cannot access the little plane pictures in the plane selection popup windows by pressing TAB. So in the pictured popup plane selection menue I just can access the filter option and the close button with using TAB.

giving the peculiarity of your issue, maybe a reinstall its the best solution.

sorry, but rare issues are usually solved better that way.

I have some doubts if this will work as I had this issue with a clean install (no beta use before) but I will try.

Which folders would I have to delet manually after deinstallation?

Will I require the registration key for a reinstall? That'll be bad. It is still at a place 1000 km from here.

you will need to delete 1c folder at your documents. back keys at least, and pehraps conf.ini.

no need for cd key.

the process takes short time. i did a reeinstall in about 30 min

Check game cache(files) integrity in Steam.

Reinstall .NET 4 from the MS site and all other programs from the \redist\ folder under Steam.

aero is off since I have this vista.

How do I check chache files only with steam?

How do I reinstall these redist things so that they are in the right folder?

Concerned are:
DirectX
DotNetFx40_Client
GDF
VCRedist

Could it be a Vista releated problem? Can anyone with Vista confirm that he doesn't have that problem?

I wanted to say that aero must be switched on for some menus to work, i've read that somewhere in the forii.

My mouse has not a specific software so I don't know if it uses a specific profile. Well, I never set one anyway.

Now I do not know what to do.

Shall I just reinstall the software in the redist directory (if so how do I do it?) or the whole game or both? Do I need to deinstall the redist software (how?) after having deinstalled Clod or is it done automatically?

Try the following testing the game after each step:

Clear your cache, go to documents\1c softclub\cache, select everything under that folder and delete it. This forces the sim to rebuild the shader cache and will prevent problems with graphic glitches and/or FPS that may be caused by running a newer version with cached shaders of a previous version.

Restore Game files to latest Official version (http://airwarfare.com/sow/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=111:graphics-issues-experienced-after-automatic-upgrade&catid=66:patching&Itemid=156)

If all else fails re install after backing up important .ini files.

1. Backup control & ini files (http://airwarfare.com/sow/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=198:backup-controls-and-ini-files&catid=66:patching&Itemid=156)

2. Uninstall and then reinstall (http://airwarfare.com/sow/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=264:uninstalling&catid=66:patching&Itemid=156)

Hope this helps.

I've encountered this problem too, with varying severity in various patches. Most of the time, when an option box appears (for example, do you want to quit? etc), the buttons on the box are not mouse clickable. I get around it by simply hitting "Y" or "N" on the keyboard, or tabbing around the boxes and pressing "enter", but it's still annoying.

I would not so much be annoyed if it would not render impossible to bind new keys or the selection of a plane when playing online.

After a while this happens to ALL popup windows (yes, those of the graphical user interface, not those during flight). Also those in the options or when confirming exiting the game.

Reinstalling did not help.

So I would like to try reinstalling the redist folder programs. Can somebody instruct me on this?

I've been having the same problem as Stormcrow, fruitbat, PissyChrissy and others. I have a clean install of the game, and am running an ATI 5870, with 8GB of Ram and Vista 64.

The only way around it is to hit Y and N for Yes and No, tabbing your way through things, and eventually, shutting down the game and restarting it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I used to get something similar in 1946.

Have you guys tried alt-tabbing out and then clicking on the icon in the taskbar to get back in?

I re-installed Net4 and VCR, I just launched them from the redist folder. Launching the Net4 exe came up with a box informing me 'repairing Net4'.

Hallo Sturmkrähe,
I am not sure if I got your problem right but I tell you of mine, which I had some month ago by assigning keys.
By keybinding I use also the "alt" key which can affecting some other functions more like other keys like "shift" or "ctrl". Further on I made a thing which keeps on pressing down the "alt"-key. When I forget to remove that thing, I have realy bad issues with the game, it's stability and even the OS itself. So if I haven't get you not wrong, just try an other key-assignement?

To install any program under Microsoft Windows launch the installer by double clicking it. Follow the on-screen instructions.

I would run this checklist:
- check game files integrity in Steam
- reinstall everything(!) from the \redist\ folder
- check in Windows if all Windows updates are installed
- close all other programs or services running in the background to see if there is any conflict with them
If the above does not help
- update all(!) motherboard drivers (chipset, audio, network, etc.)
- update all input drivers (mouse, etc.)
- remove video drivers with DriverCleaner or Sweeper
- install video drivers

Check for viruses btw.

If the above does not help update motherboard BIOS (read if any critical updates are available) then check for Win updates again and reinstall programs from \redist\ folder again. Check if new versions of all these programs are available at developers' sites, update them.

BTW I have the same issue in Battlefield 3 from time to time. Have to use keyboard arrows and enter key till restarting the game :) What a bugfest even for me! (Not compatible even with ATI Tray Tools or Asus OSD or factory overclocked GTX 560Ti cards Ah...)

I see from other threads you still have the problem.

Have you tried thse simple tests? ......

Move all the .ini files in the 1C Soft Club IL-2 CoD folder to a temporary folder so new ones are generated. Close any other applications.
See if that fixes it. If so be very careful of any changes you make in Options.

If your mouse has any software assocated with it can you get a simple plain old PS2 mouse, uninstall the Logitech mouse software and try the PS2 mouse to see if its the Logitech software or settings that contain the problem.

Also consider if any other applications are controlling or trapping your mouse outputs (e.g. TrackIR can 'trap' key inputs for actions like 'Centre' so that only TIR uses them and they are not passed to any other application. Perhaps an application is trapping your mouseclicks?). Do you have anything else running that also 'programmes' the mouse in some way?

There has to be some reason why it works ok for most people but not for you. Have you compared PC/Hardware specs?

Can I suggest you check any other graphics utility or overlay type programs you may have running and turn them off. These sometimes interfere with the GUI interface.

some other tips JIC if you're at the end of the rope . . .

install in C:\ sometimes winderz guards the program files . . . in non XP os's

with vista / win 7 also when reinstalling, do it under admin (also helpful to run it under an account with admin priv) and do the right click and install as admin. I know some installs don't let you do this.

Other thing is turn uac off. This wasn't an issue for in CLOD, but for other PC games on our vista 64 server, sometimes after the game starts, a few mins the UAC comes up, and the game's menus are unclickable until I tab out and look at the desk top to click OK I want to freaking let this program make changes.

after turning UAC off, the game worked fine.

And vista has a glitch that UAC's appls even while your in an admin account. And the handy thing about UAC is on some vista installs, all other PC functions are put on limbo until you ok it (like graphics or even mouse).

if possible if nothing works at all, try moving off vista to Win 7. vista just has these little quirks and glitches that just bug, but they were enough for the IT industry to write off vista as next upgrade and hold out for Win 7.

I can confirm at least that this bug not just applies to MP, it happens in SP as well, alas not as often. But what i did notice is, that most of the Times after exiting CloD, the gameoverlayui.exe is still running, while the game is not. Since i patched Vista lately to SP2, i will recheck if this Problem still persists.
And no, i don´t have TrackIR or any other app trapping clicks, except maybe for the RoccatOSD, which unfortunately i can´t remove without "losing" my Mouse for good, as it contains the driver necessary for operation. Without it, my mouse won´t work at all and i don´t have any old ones lying around anymore.

In this post (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpost.php?p=374825&postcount=56) it is suggested to press F9 or F10 to fix this. Don't know if it helps as I don't have the problem.

I actually tried F10 and it didn´t work, don´t know if it works with F9 though.

The wise Edith says: neither F10 nor F9 works :(
