OK I have given up trying to solve this on my own. I cannot get but the faintest engine and voice sounds out of the game. My volumes are cranked to the max. I have tested all my hardware and can blow my eardrums out with every other application. I was doing 2 things when I lost sound volume. One was exiting out of a flight and changed volume settings without going back to main menu and 2 I was screwing around with TS3 volume control plug in settings at one time. I have uninstalled the game. Uninstalled TS3 and cleared out its config file (no easy task to find them all). I have played with device settings for the sound card. Nothing will get me more volume.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheese-you da man!
It was the mixer. IL2 was completely shut down. How the heck did that happen-so I don't do it again.
Thanks

Its the combination of windows and TS3. Both have a setting to reduce application sounds when your microphone is active or a communications program (TS3 in this instance) are working. You'll need to disable one of them. You'll see your slider slowly adjust down over the next few times of using CoD and TS3 at the same time if you don't fix it.

Took me weeks to figure that one out! haha

Oh yea, glad to have helped! ;)

When I saw the origal post I thought he had the same problem I have. I cannot hear the machine guns and cannon over the engine noise. With engine at idle or off I can faintly hear it. In outside view I can barely hear any noises. Never had this problem with the older versions.

Late to the party; Cheesehawk beat me to it. Same happened to me and had me scratching my head because outside of C0D sound was fine, plus I had volume turned all the way up in CoD in the Menu Settings. Finally found the Steam/C0D volume control in my Win7 Mixer controls. Good explanation from Cheese on the TS3 involvement in this.

I think this might be happening to me too. I'll try the fix later. Thanks!
