Hey all
Been wondering about this a while, it was clear from the tree bug a while back that the trees have a large performance impact on the game in terms of fps and stuttering. Also the visual aspect I personally find very ugly with their constant flicker and shaking. View in full screen sorry bout the low bit rate.

This can be tested by turning trees off and watching the resulting fps increase and reduction (albeit small) in stutters.
Surely yes the use of speed tree is easy and quick for tree placement, but for performance clearly it is not, maybe the answer lays in taking a more simple approach by making say 5 static tree models and using them.
Then at least we could have them as solid objects to collide with and maybe reduce the horrid flicker effect that hurts the eyes.
(if anyone has a solution to reduce this flicker effect other than turning trees off please do tell)
I have tried AAx2 as shown in the video but nothing seems to stop it.
