Exactly.
You can have contrast, wich is nice, without losing all the detail going to pitch black.

I have to agree the new cockpits are a HUGE step backwards :(, hopefully they can find the right balance.

those screens make me love this game 1 and a half year ago
and now that i have it
i don't even try to fly with it
the question is simple
can they deliver those cockpits with that contrast and colour
also can they deliver us the pilot animations
the proper radios and AI's
or even the dynamic weather
the game doesn't have even a proper AA

the dev's it doesn't even try to communicate with us and
they give us a beta with the same read me file.....
anyway sorry guys i'm not mad
but i would like to see something working at last

All i see is horrible high contrast in cockpit,
so cliffs of dover is now grounded in my eyes, untill the offical patch comes out
Would be nice if they gave us contast, Gama, colour sliders, in menu

If you relly had read the readme, you would have seen that that they changed the approbiate parts.

But no, ranting it is.

people need to get over the freakin colors and ask for substantive updates.

Sustantive updates are needed, but if the team aren't producing them, and giving us reactionary 'progress' instead, then it's best to achieve excellence in these departments, rather than see all that beautiful work go to ruin.

True, but don't you think its folly to spend SO much time and effort on freakin' colors when everything from the floor up in this sim (well, not quite, but nearly) needs a serious tune up?
Id love for them to say they aren't screwing with the colors anymore, they have better things to worry about, as its the truth!

Don´t forget that this patch is the patch of colors. We have two betas, but they are from the same patch, and probably colors will stay a lot of time as they will be released when the official patch of this beta patches come out. Beta 1 and beta 2 are the same patch and is about colors and performance. When this is solved, then next patch can be about coms or whatever. We need to help devs now about colors and performance, witch is what actual patch is about. If we let colors go wrong in the color patch, then we probably let coms go wrong in the coms patch.

Also I would say that at least 80% the time working in beta 2 patch are gone in fixing bugs, and fixing bugs that come because fixing other bugs, not in color tunning.

I usually don´t quote anybody to agree, but here I have to. ;)

The video is of the old cockpit where there was the reflection of the pilot there is no reflection in the new one!

correct
also you have reflections on the gauges
and the shandows on the needles
which unfortunatelly we don't going to see again:(

In december 2013 we will start to complain a lot about the cockpit colors and contrast, then, maybe, we won't have to read "hey, I want AI and comms! I don't care if they are not being adressed in this patch, I want, I want, I want!!!"

Hope we can get our visuals, sooner or later (-;

I forgot, in the future we will ask for the cockpit contrast/color adjustment, and we will read "naaahh, I don't care about colors, I want new maps, new planes, new...."

The thing is that their colour guru will sit around and do nothing while they work on the other things. For me if they employ their colour specialist to improve the colour situation is ok as long as the ressources going to the rest won't be diminuished. Which is not going to happen as the colour guy would never have worked on the other issues that are bugging us. So when the colour guy works on the colours it does not reduce any effort employed on the other issues.

Or do you really believe that a specialist in colour rendering will work on streamlining the code for performance improvements?

So I think it is fine and they know better than us how to employ their ressources most efficiently.

If they would have a color guru, we wouldnt discuss the colors here. ;)

Anything to do with likes and dislikes of the new colours, or how the individual percieves the cockpit or the terrain for that matter is purely a question of taste..
For every person that likes the cockpits/terrain there will be another who doesn't.
I guess the developers struggle to work out just what will please the masses, it must be a thankless job as they won't please everyone, it can't be easy.
We are an unforgiving lot at times, myself included of course, but I do wonder sometimes what those guys think every day they turn up for work, and do they even worry about keeping the likes of us happy.. lol :)

Do you remember anybody complaining about cockpit colors in stock or oficial first patch? I don´t. We complained about landscape, but first version cockpits were wonderfull and nobody complain about them. All us were like "ohhh, what amazing cockpits". That´s what I´m trying to say. That version we already had were near to perfection in every sense for today hardware, they were contrasted, not smoked like in beta1 and with all the detail visible, not burnouts, not pitch black. No more no less. They should had to fix landscape. I dont know why the hell they change that perfect cockpits.

I would agree about the first cockpits mate, I thought they were spot on.. but we have what we have at the moment, and as the game is actualy playing for me now and I can enjoy the missions and campaigns, I can live with it as it is.. but yes, the original cockpits were great..

I think the graphics are, by now, save for some still-existant, but nonessential glitches, pretty spot-on and very beautiful. Certainly way better than they were before. I can only shake my head in disbelief at those folks that are still rolling on the floor and crying after their mothers...
Did it ever occur to you to set up your hardware (monitor in particular) properly? Or, if that doesn't help (subjectively, objectively, everything is 100% in order), for fools sake, get a pair of glasses!
I don't get why people that are too intellectually challenged to have a reasonable computer setup, are those that cry the loudest about having the devs fix things for them, thereby thrashing the overall progress in bugfixing...
Working radio communication is what the game needs now.

Sorry to bump this post but, I think most of our fellow users didn't read it. Nice comment.
Although this makes me think if MG got only programmers doing all the work, a designer/artist/photographer wouldn't think the cockpits look better now.
In a side note, it would be great if the "visuals" threads were not spammed with comments like "they need to fix comms, etc, instead of loosing time in blah blah blah", if you need to, create you own thread about it.
We should all try and make this forum be a good and easily readable source of feedback to the devs.

Everything has a "sharpness", including the landscape, to it that wasnt present in previous patches. Looks more realistic and less cartoonish imo.
