Hi Guys, we have got a new server up and running, this should be excellent for UK players and european players as the pings are very good.
So now for a plea for a little help, we would like someone to make us a map for the battle of britian, our aim is to have a fast flowing dogfight server set over the Channel map. We still would like a few targets to bomb if thats your bag but we want no AI aircraft at all. We are hoping this will give us the smoothest background for dogfighting in.
We would like a maximum of 8 ships per side to bomb.
We would like minimum targets on airfields, a few vehicles and AA but no stationary aircraft, so as to keep FPS good, and we want to encourage airbase strafing.
We would like a few vehicle convoys for the bomber boys as well.
We would like 3 bases per side along the coast, axis bases around Calias and UK bases around Hawkinge.
Aircraft to be included.
AXIS
109 E1, E3 & E4
109 E3B & E4B
All 110 variants
All German Bombers/Dive Bombers
RAF
All RAF fighters except Spit11 ( this may change after patch)
All RAF Bombers
Please feel free to pm me any questions, the map maker will of course be given a credit.
Many Thanks
Tree on behalf of BKHZ
P.S any input, ideas always welcome.

As someone who's probably tested more different configurations of missions etc, I'm here to tell you that server lag caused by AI is minimal at best. Players, especially those loading in with custom skins cause 99% of all server lag. And when you get 40-60 players connected with constant joining, spawning, leaving - there's your lag. It doesn't matter if you have 2 airfields as the only objects on a map, or 1000 with AI flying around, 99% is still, sadly, caused by the players.
But of course, if your server fills up, you'll be able to witness this all on your own. It's a good theory that I wish was true, but simply isn't :(..

Hi Bliss, yes i agree with you about the AI, but we would rather not have it for other reasons, every plane you see will be flown by a human, and no more chasing dots that dissappear etc. Thank you for your post anyway mate and keep up the great work on your server, I only wish it was in the UK as our pings are pretty high when we join.

Yes the ghost dots are a problem, but are easily avoided by using the radar as they only call out live contacts.
The netcode seems to be similar of old IL2. 15 connected clients only use about a total of 600kb of combined upload/download. If it's like the old one, ping should never be an issue. I wouldn't be surprised if you could play IL2COD on a 56k modem. 1/2 our team is from Australia and have no issues at all.

Does the stationary aircraft couse more drop in fps than vehicles and ground objects ?? or do i miss your point?
Good to hear more servers are comming alive :)

Its more the big plumes of smoke that they generate after they have been destroyed that causes FPS drop. A few vehicles scattered about is not something that would be an obvious target. Well thats my thinking anyway.

Name the planesets and the location you want to use (southern / eastern England) and I'll whip you up a map.
Edit: I see you spelled it out already :)
