Just a thought, would be interesting to see what the 'norm' is.

16, but as for gaming I wouldn't say that more than 8 is necessary - in some cases it might even slow down the system.

12GB Triple Channel. I upgraded from 6GB TC and didn´t notice any change at all, only in my credit card bill.

Lots of people have 6 GB in triple channel now. How did you leave that one out. :)

I figured 8 gig would be more than enough for a few years...at least from a gaming point of view.

12 Gb, like it says in my sig. To be honest, I'm not sure I've ever had it all in use at once! Pootling around solo in CloD, the CPU rarely seems to be going over about 60% usage per core (and doesn't use hyperthreading at all, as far as I can see). Sadly, the GPU hits 99% usage, and runs at about 80 °C - I'm not going to need to use the central heating in winter.

12 gigs, but that's for video editing in Adobe Production Premiere Suite CS5.5 - a 64-bit program that can use it.

I have 6Gig, mostly my computer only recognises only 4 but from time to time he recognises all 6.

8 GB these days (all of it never used in any game)... I remember one guy when I was studying at university in 1993 that had 16 mb when everyone had at absolute maximum 4 mb (like I had in my 486 dx 50). We where all laughing calling him mad. When ever are you going to need 16 mb?

I think we where playing Aces over Europe back then, and though it was awesome...

Apologies to all you 6 GBs and others too who couldn't vote. My bad. A revised poll is required, me thinks.

Yeah Peter, 6gb of triple channel DDR3 1600mhz here too.....I took advice a few years ago that getting more was pointless for games; don't know how true this is for all games today though. Seems to be the case for CoD though, after asking people who had upgraded from 6 to 8gb and 12 too. Like Mad G, they report no difference.

You won't notice the difference most of the times because the difference is not occurring so often, and it's right on the limit.

Thing is, I've dropped Window's paging file system from my Win7 64 bits like two years or something ago (almost from the beginning) and had only 8 GB of mem, and never felt the need for any more memory..

.. until I've started play Il2CoD on maximum settings. Now and then, specially in the few MP sessions I've had, and having opened Google Chrome with lots of tabs in background, I've got a few Windows Low Memory warnings.

That's the reason I've went from 8 to 16 GB. Of course, I never had them since then :)

I went from 4GB to 12GB and didn't notice any difference nor did my 3DMark score change a single bit. FPS same.
I even tried a RAMDrive but to no effect.

My conclusion; 4GB is enough and no bottleneck to run this game and other modern ones.
However, I do some vid-editing and that's a big difference.
