A different way to spend the weekend...
This week I happily forgot to frantically hit F5 key looking for a patch and I'm gone with some friends to an air show near Stuttgart.
This is my first time at 'Hahnweide Oldtimertreffen' and I have to admit is quite better than Flying Legend in Duxford.
I post the link for those who don't know it.
http://www.oldtimer-hahnweide.de/home.php

Among the others B25 and P38 Red Bull, Bf109 and Me262, more than 20 oldtimer (Klemm-Tigermoth-Fw44 Stieglitz etc) the complete list of partecipants is on home site. From 09.00 to 19.00 an uninterrupted succession of take off an landing. Shot more than 2000 picts.
Some 4 u, hope u like it. When I have checked them all I'll post more.
Cheers

I assure You I have not a super zoom, it is a standard 300mm zoom. The great thing of this airshow is that all airplanes fly at 30 meters from u. There are alot of places u can choise for shooting picts, some in short final and along taxiways. The bleriot exibits 5 meters over my head, so the 262 and 109 (higher bbut on my vertical)

I´ve been there, too.
I´m still impressed about all the those wonderfull aircraft and their breathtaking sound. I will definately never forget the formation of six (!) Ju-52 in slow flyby which I saw on Fryday...

Been there from Friday (right in time too enjoy the 6 Ju52 Formation) till Saturday evening.

Was great fun, hot as an oven with even hotter warbirds flying around. I was especially impressed by the Yak11, imho blew the competition out of the water in its speed and flying style, and that despite only having around 1000hp. Spitfire, Mustang, Yak3 and others were just tame in comparison.

Also had a great trip with the De Havilland Dragon Rapide. Now that is such a stylish bird :D

How do you come to this conclusion?

It seems that you are the only one with this opinion.

maybe I'm been particularly fortunate with this edition but if u see the list of partecipants in this link
http://www.wolf-hirth.de/ott11_en/teilnehmer.php
I assure u I saw all of them, and more...the ju52s and antonov took off and landed at least 10 time each for touristic rides..
My previous experience in vintage airshow are 7 times Flying Legends. Ok in FL there are 7 spits, 7 P51, 3 skyraider, 3, Swordfish, 4 Hurri, 3 B17, 3 Corsairs the BoB memorial flight a lot of hangars/museums/workshops and 2 miles of stands selling everything but the ticket is 25 or more pounds and u pay apart for visit the flight-line (you stay on the tarmac but planes are 20meters away on the grass). It is undoubtely another dimension, as american airshows (oshkosh or chino I never saw). I think this worth all the 15€ I spent.

... I`m going there regularly for years already but in the past it was much better !

The display of the planes was much closer to the audience, the BF-109 and other planes that just appeared flying over the airfield this year, where on the airfield in the past years, taking off and landing there, even the B-25 ! This is the first year that the 109 did only come for a fly-by, it`s a pity.
So far it is correct to call it "worst airshow ever".

But nice to see some real warbirds from time to time, isnt it?
:)

effectively me109, me262, giordanian falcon and spits displayed far away from center line, they exibit over wooden area near the airstrip and a bit high... P51 were ok, ok also seafury (great show)

... I remember years when you could watch the BF-109 or Mustang so close, you could look into the muzzle of their guns when they were roaring straight towards you, only a few meters off the ground.
You could even feel the propwash and smell the engine when they were passing over your head !

That was a feeling - hard to describe !!! But that was many years ago,...:(
