If the res on this little gadget is good, looks like our little hobby with get a lot more immersive...

Humm looks like 720p (1280 x 720 res) which is not bad for a visor like this. BUT 14 bit color ???

I've been waiting for this for quiet a while.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have gyro/accelerometer built in. Trackir doesn't do 360 degree tracking so I am afraid we need to hack up some sort of 3Dof tracking here.

It also only has 45 degrees FOV - which is goggle vision. Maybe we can do some optic mods too.

Affordable + $800 don't usually go hand in hand for most people.

Yeah, 800 bucks is a chunk for most..

But if anyone ever brings out a fully functional 3d VR helmet with 180 degree FOV and 6DOF head tracking, I would second mortgage the house..

If you're interested in the Sony also look at this Carl Zeis product. Lower pricepoint at $500 and it does head tracking.

We need to duct tape a webcam in front of it then we can see where to reach for our keyboard!
