You are missing quite a few in the higher range such as 1920x1200 (which I'm using...voted for 1920x1080) and 2560x1440.

1680x1050, and I am one of the few which is still happy with the performance (maybe due to the comparable low resolution?).

1600*1200, still running an old CRT as I just don't feel like spending money on a tech (LCD) with so many issues. Paid good money for this diamondtron 22" in 2001 and as long as it works well I'll stick with it.

Medium settings except for textures and effects. Good FPS for me (though a bit slow for some I guess) Worth the quality compromise for me.

I still think CRT monitors have better colour reproduction than LCD's. My old AOC is still trooping along in my workplace. :) Many great games were enjoyed on the old girl.

I can run it at my native resolution of 1920x1080 resonably well, just at times with heavy traffic, shadows and ssao and clouds on, textures at original it drops below my comfort level.
I noticed that my best increase in fps is at this resolution, if I drop the resolution further I do not see any noticable effect, even when I go down to 1280x720 absolutely no increase in fps.
Anybody else notice that?

I voted other because of the on-line game play changes dramatically.
In SP it doesn't matter much for K/D ratio
I conducted an experiment, found out the damage box's in on-line play change for the end user but not the other guy on the other end; say for instance I fly my 28 inch monitor 1920x1600 in IL2 @1024x768 because the hit box's become more bigger the objects are bigger and i have a theory that the bullets are bigger and I get faster kills. My K/D went way up after flying like this. Sure the planes and graphics look like crap but hey I want kills now.

Really??? So a guy flying online with a very high resolution is likely to be shot at by bullets the size of basketballs? wow if thats true thats a horrible flaw.
Hmm, I don't quite follow that idea. My monitor is 1280 x 1024 and kills are down to good gunnery. Welshman and I watched a BF109 from high with a clear killing opportunity on a straight and level Spit. His convergence was crossing well short of the target and we could see ordinance actually colliding. Needless to say - Welshman jumped on it and with precise gunnery it was game over for that unlucky pilot. I don't think that monitor res would have made any difference.

I can never understand why people will on purpose make this or any other game look like crap so they get kills easier or improve SA..
I absolutely hate a game looking like pants..Prob one of the main reasons i dont enjoy the original IL2 like i used too

But how would you know? You wouldn't, unless you tested the same sequence with other resolutions, like Mastiff says he has done.

I think the lower resolution on probably med spec or lower computers gets better kill ratio because the plane is rendered much faster and hitboxes are much closer to the rendered plane you aim at.(At least online)

will higher screen res decrease the FPS? i started off with a really high res but i felt the game wasn't running very smoothly, then i changed a few settings as well as the screen res and the game runs a lot better. So idk if lowering the res has anything to do with increased FPS?

Res has a great impact on fps unless you're like running 1280 and going to 1024. In that case the change won't be that great...compared to going from 2560 to 1920.

Generally speaking yes... The higher the resolution the slower a game will run. It becomes a funtion of how much horsepower your GPU has to move LARGE textures around and render complex scenes. It also means that if you apply AA the more memory bandwidth you're taking up.
Cards are restricted by how much they can move around textures within their memory limitations. The larger the screen resolution the larger the textures.
It gets much more complex than that but I think you get the idea.
The general trade off is using higher resolution means you don't have to use as much AA to get it to look nice. There are many different AA techniques but think of it as expanding the existing frame then shrinking it back down to the screensize. Changing resolution makes a huge difference.
