Update your video drivers then :
Browse to your game folder C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\redist
1) Run the Direct X installer in the DirectX folder.
2) Run the dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe installer in the DotNetFx40_Client folder.
3) Run the vcredist_x86.exe installer in the folder VCRedist

So I need to upgrade my RAM to 4GB : I will (around 33 euros in France)
Could you explain what means: "to upgrade my OS to a 64-bit."
What is a "OS 64-bit"? How many bits have my computer? Where do I have to look at to know it?

The 64 in your CPU description means, that it is able to run in 64bit mode, for the OS, it runs at 32bit. So the OS is theoretically able to address 4GB of Ram, there are hardware and software restrictions preventing it from doing so. to upgrade to a 64bit OS, you´ll have to buy a new OS, judging by what i read, Windows 7 in a 64bit edition should be your choice, as it seems, that CloD runs more smooth on it as on XP/Vista for example.

I read a post in this forum, that the upgrade from winXP to Win7 made a lot of difference! and if you got later about 4 gb ram or more (more is always good ;)) I would run Win7 with 64bit!
Btw, i got also win7 without trouble and...no, i`m not working for gates! ;)

OS as in Operating System.
You have Win XP 32 bit, which means your OS can utilize up to 3gb of ram.
The recommendation is to buy win7 64 bit, which can utilize all the ram you can put on your motherboard.
And it is an exellent recommendation, win7 is lightyears better than win xp.
The only downside is it means spending money.
Here in the US you have two choices when buying a new operating system.
Retail - you get a nice boxed version of the OS and can install it on as many
computers as you like.
OEM version - very simple packaging and you can use it only on one computer at a time, of course the OEM version is something like half the price of the retail version.
If you buy win7 I would honestly buy a new hard drive as well, shouldn't be too expensive, depends of course on what you choose a bit. Put the new hard drive in your computer, take the old one out, start the computer, insert the win7 disk in your dvd drive and the rest win7 will do for you, very easy.

Thank you to all.
When I bought that game I didn't expect to change my computer. Specifications written on the game are obviously very wrong.
This is not nice and fair... I won't use that game and stay with Il 1946... Not happy...

Yes you are right and it has been discussed many times here.
With this game in particular, but with computer games in general, caution is always advised if you are below or well below the recommended specs.
These days it seems one should be above, if not well above recommended specs to really run a game with everything turned on in terms of graphics.
I hope you are going to still read this and not just quit in frustration.
Buying win7 64 bit (home premium is the "standard") will be the best thing you can do for your computer in general, not only because of this game.
If you decide to buy it, come back here BEFORE you install it, and please do buy a new hard drive so you still have your old OS and hard drive intact, there are still some words of advice for you. :)

Dewoitine520 don't give up on this, looking at your specs you should be able to get it running ok but will have to back off the graphic settings. I was running a similar spec pc to yours and managed to get it quite playable. Put in another 2 gig of ram (this would be the most economic option) although a 32bit OS will only recognise 3gig of the 4gig. My old system was: -
2.4 g Core 2 Duo
4 gig ram
Nvidia 9600gt graphics 1 gig Vram
I was getting about 25--30 fps over London and about 40--50fps over water.
There are certain things that will help improve your performance by changing one or two.
(1) Cut back your resolution settings for this game to ; - 1024 x 768 (that should give you some extra fps).
(2) Flying with "Cockpit on" and "Clouds" are quite a big hit on performance. Try flying with what is regarded by some as "wonder woman" view (cockpit off), this will also improve your fps.
Go into "Video Settings" and turn a lot of them down to either 'Medium or Low" ,Turn "Off" "Grass and Shadows" (another improvement in fps). This sim is playable with a low specs PC, just be patient and try different settings and enjoy what is going to be another "Classic" in this series. Improvements to the performance by the developers is an ongoing thing just as it was in "Il2 Sturmovik". I am sure they won't let the followers of this series down.
I have recently made a major change and upgrade to my system and although it is not top specs (about mid way) I am now smiling my stupid face off.
