View Full Version : Rolling downhill carnage!

So I am flying a Spitfire online last night. I spawned on a hill at an airbase instead of on a flat section as I had before. Well the darn plane starts rolling backwards. I try the brakes but they are only slowing me not stopping me. I fortunately did not run into anyone while rolling back. As other people spawned they were in the same situation and rolled backwards as well. There was much carnage as planes rolled into each other and burst into flames (see photo) Funny thing was I couldn't produce enough power to climb back the hill so I could take off. I ended up rolling down the hill some more to try and find a level spot. When I would get a little stuck I would fire the machine guns to get me rolling again. Impressive physics modeling and funny as heck!

Hehe...
So, you couldn't even do a 'U'ey? :-D

It is amazing physics modeling... Even when it's sometimes a little off... :)

Every mission has a surprise!

..........and if that wasn't bad enough, me and Squirrel kept visiting that base with our heavy loaded Bf110's.

I got eight spitfires with the first bomb run.

That base, with so many abandoned planes, was such a juicy target it was hard to resist.

Seems like a good reason to have chocks IN on game start or spawning, may take a procedure change for ai though.

LMAO rolling down a hill due to a bad spawn placement is one thing but this.... lol

I think this is a known bug with hangar placement in axis bases mostly, some have it and some not.

Ataros was collecting information on this issue and said that the developers have fixed some in patches. The thing is nobody knows exactly which bases are affected, so a few of them are fixed on each patch as the information is gathered. In other words, submit the name of the bases in the bug report threads if you see this happening. ;-)

A little off subject, but not much, I hope.

In the air, damage to planes is progressive. In taking off, or landing, a mistake will lead to collapsed gear, broken propeller blades, etc. But, if your plane touches anything on the ground at any speed, a truck, a hangar, etc., your plane explodes.

Shouldn't that sort of damage be modeled as less severe that being totally demolished?

LOL, what a good laugh . . .

oh snap, its kinda funny, ever since I was playing video games since childhood, from NES to PC glitches made memorable funnies, esp with with friends that are having the same glitch.

hiro,

It's late, and my sense of humor has gone to bed. So, I missed the funny part. What was it?

The most funy glitch I saw going on there last night was this:

That piece of BF110 fuselage you see in the screenshot kept rolling and bouncing there for few minutes while I was warming up my engines.

Similar problem to the 110, I spawned at Manston on the Syndicate server last night and got bounced to death by the hangar. At least one spawn point needs looking at.

Had this before on other fields especially where those small buildings are that look like toilets (and have Rauchen Verboten scrawled on them even though its an RAF base).

I think these have been reported to the devs.
