I can't find it on the top 100 games.
Was there any marketing done for this game at all?

Then click on "Top Sellers" and check the #1 on there.
It's not saying much, and it was only #2 a while ago, but still...

Ya, gotta agree it's not saying much, but the market for a real sim is a bit limited compared to all the FPS's out there... Still we beat Sims 3! LOL
They just finished there major discount sale last week, there is always a demand slump afterwards...

All I see are 22 people who don't mind playing without sounds, or trees.
The rest of us are just patiently (sorta) waiting for the next super duper update that'll make the game properly playable online. Well at least I am anyway. :D

Anybody in North America who made a habit of keeping up with the game prior to the official release already bought it from Just Flight weeks or months ago. All that's left are the poor souls who haven't been staying on top of things. These guys installed the game yesterday or today, don't know how to optimize the game so it'll run smoothly, are just now realizing they don't know how to start the engine anymore, and if the engine does start they're trying to figure out why the radiator explodes after five seconds. What, this isn't just '46 with shadows in the cockpit? :o
Then they're fiddling with a hundred graphics options, searching for the sweet spot for their rig. They're assigning a boatload of new keybindings. They're practicing and testing over and over again. They're trying to play the stock offline campaigns.
In short, these guys who haven't been reading the forums all these months are going to need just a little bit of time to figure out how to play the game before they start showing up on servers. I hope enough of them wise up and start looking around for advice. Can you imagine trying to figure this sim out on your own?

Where is all the new players? I expect that most of them 'is' playing offline, fiddling with control settings, and flying through Tower Bridge like us Euro's did (only with less graphic stutters). Fortunately, most of them won't have noticed that St Paul's is missing, though they won't have the pleasure that us South-East-Englanders have of flying over home territory, to see how accurate it is - which amounts to 'near enough, if you are dogfighting at 5000 ft, but don't expect to find your own street, unless you live in Bucks House'.
They will also be trying to figure why the landing gear in a spitfire is called an undercarriage, except when it is called a chassis, and why the RAF lined up their hangers end on - before realising that it was so you could fly through the lot.
The rivet-counters amongst them will have no doubt noticed that it is actually possible to count rivets on a Bf 109 wing in flight, but not to fly it without sideslip at the same time - probably authentic - and the really adventurous will be flying that darned Italian fighter thing just out of curiosity. Actually, I expect a few of them will be contacting long-lost cousins in the 'old country', just for help with translating the instrument panel.
So, they 'is' doing what the rest of us did, only later. Who said that CloD wasn't historically accurate? ;)

^^^ Best post ever!
new players are trying to
A) build a new pc to play
B) getting the game to work
C) Getting the game to work
D) trying to get the game to work
E) playing the game
F) playing the game
G) wait a week, you'll hear the fallout increase unless a patch is around the corner that fixes majority of the main issues
H) throw d/L time . . . you'd be surprise how many in america have 92K/s speed d/l (yes that does exist)
I think all the whining boils down to how good IL-2 1946 is, and how glitchy this release was compared to il-2 of 2001 . . .
And how everyone was waiting for this massive awesomeness, but only to experience fail
But history is shown sometimes the biggest fails of man lead to the most awe inspiring and beyond cool, history changing outcomes.

Making this a sticky would achieve what?
You sound like you are happy that there aren't that many online, like you have had some sort of victory, if all your after is a pat on the back, you don't need to post here for that I'm sure someone else could do that for you.
Apart from that, online figures are hardly reflective of the total amount that may own the game, personally I'm waiting for the promised sound fix, others may be similar, the other sim I am playing ROF tends to have similar numbers playing, that doesn't mean it's a failure does it"?

Guys takes a break, and forget about CoD for a while.
We have given our feedback, now we have to wait Christmas for somenthing more than this alpha.
The best thing we could do now, is to ask for a core betatester team as for RoF.

Hundreds of people plays ROF their offline campaigns, just because it is so much of fun... And if you have just one sortie 1,4 hours long... There is not much time to fly online too..

After release in Europe I was checking it every day. I was just curious if it will go up or down... The most ppl in one time was around 600(but MP was not working), around 900 total... Then it started to slide down every single day. Jumped up on first and second patch and then - right to the toilet, where it is until this time...

You do you want to harm the project?
For you it is real thing that counts because you want only bad thing to count. For others it means nothing or something good.

I don't think so. Tvrdi was a quite stubborn supporter, but probably after six or seven system reinstalls and 200+ hours spent with messing around with his HW and SW, he just gave up.
And because he was and still is emotionally attached to the IL2 series, he still cares. And because fanboys started to attack him personally as deserter, he fires back...
It is next example of "simple logic" - only so called whiners are guilty for this failure and they want to harm it even more...

I understand your frustration, I think we all realise the issues with this sim, it was just that your post came across as if it's a good thing if CoD fails, whereas I'm sure that you me and most of the posters here would like it to be as we expected, unfortunately it's not, all we can to is wait and hope they can pull some rabbits out of their hats.
Hang in there

No. Btw I found settings which are more or less playable on my (modern) rig. Here they are (maybe this will help others):
http://i54.tinypic.com/14kxlqs.png
But with such settings landscape is ugly as hell. Oh well.
system:
i7920@3.5 Ghz on stock V. (HT OFF),
Nvidia GTX470 Twin Frozr2, OC to 800Mhz on core (1.034mV). Done with latest beta v. of MSI afterburner.
6GB of DDR RAM (working at app. 1333Mhz)
X-FI extreme gamer sound card
HDD WD C.Black,32MBc.
trackir 5
Dell 2209Wa 1680x1050, (IPS, low input lag monitor)
For optimising my Win7 64 bit Im using Yamicsoft Win7 manager and for defragging my HDD Im using Mydefrag which I highly recommend doin after every update.

I hope. But even if they fix all this in few months/weeks. They still did damage the marketing of this product. Pitty.

I think only 15-20% of CLODs customers are visiting this forum...so the answer is NO. But unlike you I did contrubute in the past (bug fixes etc.) for original IL2.
