You locked the other thread before I could finish! Never mind...
At the moment the only part of the forum worth reading are the sub-forums (i.e. technical, multiplayer etc) but unfortunately these don't get as much attention as the parent forum which is just rubbish at the moment.
A suggestion:
1. Make a sub-forum for General Discussion
2. The only threads on the main page are announcements and stickies
This way people can see announcements, stickies etc but then have to move to a sub-forum to post. Anyone who wants a rant etc can go to General Discussion, otherwise people can go to the sub-forum of their choice.
I think this would make the rant threads easier to ignore and would definite change the emphasis of the forum (which is very negative at the moment), hopefully to more constructive threads in the technical etc sub-forums which are still excellent.

i sent a pm to near miss yesterday about creating a simple announcement suggestion created within its own section so users can only get info on updates.

Yes, I know and it is a good idea. But it wouldn't stop the emphasis on complaint threads. Don't get me wrong - most of the complaints are valid. I would really appreciate an update on SLI (I mean, honestly...) and the SP loadout bug for instance.
When I visit the forum I flick through the posts on the main page, open up a couple that look promising, quickly scan through a few pages of rubbish and then I've run out of time. I have started ignoring the threads on the main page and just concentrating on reading sub-forums. MUCH more informative and people are asking for help.

+1 This is a great idea. It also forces users to be less lazy and think about where the best/most relevant place to post is. I am one of the lazy!

Don't worry about it, almost everyone is lazy in this regard (me too) and that is the problem. ;)

id like to explain somthing carefully.
1C operate in there own way. Nobody here can change that or has the right to change that. If we Lower our expectations we can get through this ok. for anyone who remebers the history of the previous development cycle for il2 through to the 1946 iteration do this. "Expect what has gone before !" the likelyhood of it being any different is remote regards COD/BOB development. 1C have there way. And thats the way it is.
i was told something by a mod today i have not repeated there own words. and i appreciate what theyve told me, not happy but. anyway my own thoughts are as follows.
we will get there eventually. maybe not at our conveniance but at the conveniance of the new sim itself within its development cycle. Many of us are used to a more modern business model. Many are not aware of the Old school formats even. but if this is how its done then so be it. i want it to exist in its glory as we all do. 1C, ubisoft the community and possibly oleg. We will get there and so be it if this is how it has to be.
Grim & Bare it. its tough but thats how we get to the end, nothing the majority of you havn't done before including my bad self and not to forget the developers who take on this responsibility.

It is strange this forums do not have any bug-reports/complains section where all bug-reports/complains can be moved.
At sukhoi.ru there is one and it has very strict rules how a complaint has to be reported:
- title
- description
- how often can be reproduced
- screenshot/video/track
- system specs
- list of other software running
The section is divided into about 10 specific topics like visual bugs/ sound / multiplayer / etc.....
Any complaint that is not reported properly is deleted in some time.
This provides help to the devs and prevents irresponsible whining/trolling. The devs actually visit it and fix bugs reported there. Sometimes even ask questions if something is not clear.
This would be a very constructive tool if we have it on these forums.

+1. And the devs should start it off with a list of recognized bugs to avoid duplication.

The layout is bad here IMO..
As said before you have sub forums but then a massive mess of general threads so things are missed or things are hard to find generally.
Maybe a revamp wouldn't be a bad shout and having the bug forums with a format will help too as suggested above

@ nearmiss
Can we have a FAQ sticky answering the most common questions? They were answered several times since Friday by several users including myself but it is hard to find answers in the forums and people sincerely do not understand what is going on, e.g. who is in charge of the communication budget, why short one-paragraph Friday updates would not be enough for community and do not make sense, whether luthier has a lot of time to spend on forums and why it is not his priority, why modelers working on BoM can not be involved in CoD bugfixing, etc.
Moderators at sukhoi.ru built several FAQs to help avoid flamewars / spamming. I think it should be done here too.
Examples of questions to include in FAQ. I will add more questions to this post if I find more.
It seems folks not in the know have been making excuses/guesses about the reasons behind the lack of communication. Like many others...I just wanted what I paid for...or a reasonable explanation from the source. Common sense would suggest that with the premature release to North America, more dissident voices would be heard. They have been and somewhere will be.
Most of us have purchased this "sim"...we have not received what we were "sold"...What we don't understand? The lack of information from Luthier.
Yes, because we bought the "sim", we do deserve an accurate concise answer from him or his designee.
I am from the U.S. and I bought this "sim" on 4-16-2011. I paid full retail. If that doesn't show support? I don't what does.
Note to Nearmiss: I understand what you must do to contain this forum. I just don't understand...Why Luthier won't give give you a hand.
I have to say but Luthier's post is almost borderline offensive in how out of touch it is. As others pointed out, saying that you are working on a expansion/next in the series when the current one is still in a beta state, while making an excuse (small team) for its state its pretty frustrating. Maybe they need to re-sort their priorities, hell at this point they should give the people here who spent $ on the game and have been playing a payed beta the expansion for FREE. What a mess (told you so, because I just have to rub it in ).
But I wont spend another cent on anything from them until COD is performing at the level it should, and has the amount of quality content that at minimum a game should have at release (hell this release is worse than most if not all betas I have been in!).
There were many posts from carguy_, Blackdog_kt, JG52Krupi, SYN_Bliss, robtek, ZaltysZ and many others answering many of the questions that can be included in the FAQ if developers can not answer some of them directly because of NDA.

Sorry for linking many posts from myself, there are much better answers from people I mentioned above and others but I do not remember where to find particular answers from them. Maybe they can add links themselves if you consider the idea of FAQ reasonable. Can it be a sort of pre-moderated wiki?

Completely agree, it seems crazy to have all the sub-forums and yet everyone posts what they like when they like here and then some poor admin has to shift it to the correct spot.
This part of the forum should be sticky's and announcements only, +1 for the suggestion.
