the real solution unfortunatly involves your unrelenting patience. (of which mine has run out.) Or tune the game settings so it looks the worst possible and performance will appear. But then again its not really performing so... your out of luck, wait patiently like the rest of us and dont expect any real advice from any of the developers. We are awaiting the next installment of the series for a promising adventure in a ww2 world of flight and one inparticular that isnt tainted by the lies and deception and subterfuge and (possibly sabotage) that this one has.

sorry but its a mess around these parts. but do get your jollies worth as theres alot of good stuff in this title. All of it incomplete mind you.

It depends on your system. I run it with smooth 35-55 fps online.

SSAO, shadows, landscape shading and landscape details, texture quality - are the settings that influence performance most. Read this forum section for more tips. Try tips in link #5 in my sig.

Get Win7-64.

Regarding engine it is a feature. Learn Complex Engine Management or turn it off in difficulty settings.

Post your system specs and OS so people can give better advice about what you might expect performance wise.

Runs very well for me at max settings.

there are niggles and bugs of course....

I follow Sturmovik since the first edition in 2002 (if I well remember) and I am a fan. I have just wasted my 50,00 € buing from Steam (I hate Steam...) I am simply craing... Never thought the sim I waited for years is like this... I need to read all the forum hopping to find the solution to the many problems it has...It is a huge job... I am totally disappointed with this "hole in the water" .

installed COD today, Installation and activation + autopatch completed without any trouble...

Started game...still no troubles. -> first of all I reduced the Graphic settings, switched epilespy filter off, shadows off, several detail settings to medium, buldings to low and limited and started a quick mission over Dover...

And now, no big surprise at all: Though not as high as I expected: The game is stuttering.

with the customized graphics settings, the game still looks nice, but the stutter is to high to really enjoy flying, respectively fly a campaign...

like so many others, I hereby joined all the guys waiting for future performance improvements...

(btw: installed Wings of Prey just for comparison...played it only 5 mins with FULL detailed settings over citys and it runs smooth and fluently)

cheers Tom

Are you using the most recent ATI drivers version 11.8? As I understand it, the 11.6 and 11.7 weren't too good.

Please read the thread about optimal settings both in the CCC and in-game here: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=25543

If you're flying a Spit, turn off the mirror. It is broken anyway so quite useless.

As CoD is a sim that has to compute much more data than an action game like WoP, it has less time to calc the eye-candy, so don't expect to run CoD on the same graphics level than WoP.

My system is not so different from yours, just that I have a faster GPU and I can run CoD @1920x1080 with all options set to the highest settings, only textures set to high and shadows off. So I am confident you could tweak the settings to absolutely playable settings.

thanks for your quick response, tintifaxl, very much appreciated..tried some different graphic set ups and its working quite ok now...not perfect, but enough fps to fly...

how can I Switch the FPS counter on?

installed ATI 11.8 drivers now, which has been a remarkable positive performance change

even flyin around over london is now possible with only limited stuttering, unbelievable... Im afraid it wont work with more birds up in the sky at the same time, will try tomorrow

cheers

For the fps counter open the console, I think you have to map a key for that in the settings, then enter "fps START SHOW", case sensitive.
Now there are two things as far as I read on the forum, fps and stuttering.
The stuttering occurs even for people with good fps, thus has nothing to do with the framerate. It seems to come from texture loading.
I seem to be fortunate enough not to have any stuttering at all, it might have to do with the type and amount of ram and the speed of the harddrive.
There are solutions/workarounds for the stuttering, if you search the topic there should be a list of postings that will help.
I believe Ataros made a lengthy post about help with stuttering a while ago.

managed to optimise fps according to several tutorials here, especially the great one from Mystic Puma: (thx tintifaxl for the linking)

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=25543

finally did a performance test with the solo spitfire flight over london, the result was 11/56/101, (textures med, grass on, streets on, shadows off, buildings very low, models high)

didnt overclock my GPU yet, but will probably do for further improvements

flying is really enjoyable now but sometimes the stuttering is still existing...
