View Full Version : Speculation- we will hear from Ilya and have a patch on 7/19

7/19 looks to still be the US release date, with no word otherwise.

I'm thinking the dev team is most likely trying to get a patch ready for that date to fix as much as possible for when the new users connect to Steam for the first time. The devs will not have time to Beta it.

Because of this deadline pressure, we have not heard from the team.

They are gonna release i think so, they will get more funds to continue work on fixing, so with that thought it seems a sound assumption.

Mine assumption aswell, apart from what is surely to be another deadline. It seems Ubi might just want to get their aimed funds (juices) out of this game and quit it like they did with IL2. They don`t care if it raises hell over here boards either.

But it still is way better than in 2001/2002. A big part of IL2 community not only didn`t know of IL2 surfacing. It wasn`t even available in any retail stores to get.
That is why I`m kinda prepaired for DLCs as a tool to keep it going.

I think DLC makes the most sense. It's a small development studio and the publisher isn't pushing the product at all. Niche market too.
Virtually all development studios release DLC these days, and I'm quite surprised that so far, we've gotten a lot of content for free* that could easily have been DLC.

*Aside from paying for the game of course.

I don't think they would have the cheek to ask for DLC.

Das Attorney

If they go the DLC route, I hope they do it the Same way as Arma 2.

Everyone gets the DLC for free, but with low textures. You then pay money if you want high textured models/landscape.

That way, it puts everyone on the same page and doesn't create a divide in the online community.

If the DVD is to be on the store shelves on the 19th I suppose the game has gone gold and the duplicators have had it for a week.

I would expect a patch on Steam on the 19th to bring the North American DVD up to date.

My gut feeling is the DVD release date of July 19 will be push back again.

I would think if CloD was being released on the 19 July it would appear under "coming soon" list on the US Ubi store, but I don't see it:

http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Search.aspx?cal=cs

[Edit] it's featured on the main page, so it's good to go for 19th woooo hooooo!

It's quite sad the lack of comunication from devs, as we are 3 days away from USA release, and no info yet, the way that devs here comunicate with their costumers is
really poor, they should learn a bit more from RoF team, as the comunication there is
very fluent and you don't have to prey to 300 diferent gods to have an answer from devs.

I think it was late June before Ubi changed the May 24th release date. They were the last to update to the new release date. All the online etailers and download sites had the date changed long before Ubi.

There might well be some token courtesy-patch on release day or near to it. I would not expect it to be a significant change over what we are experiencing now however.

Who Cares?

I flew a brilliant mission tonight, and only to shut the people up who keep banging on about tracers. (Like it Mattered).

It was the Bomber Intercept Quick Mission, and all I did was alter the time of day to 3.30am.
What a new experience! I didn't know that at night. you can see white hot sparks showering back from the enemy a/c as you hit it.
I'll try and post the clip tomorrow, coz I'm away from home tonight, but in the meantime try it. Fantastic.

Nice, can't wait for the vid. How could you find the E/A in the dark? I have trouble locating anything smaller than a coast line.

Yeah, I sometimes even lose that! Most of my fun is offline too with the bomber intercept missions but never actually tried it at night. Will have a go, thanks.

More people would play night missions if there was functional landing lights on the aircraft. :)

Carrots mate. Lots of Carrots. Just call me 'Cat's Eyes'.

Well, that and switching the lights off. At 3.30am, the sky is pretty luminous but it's difficult to spot the nasties for sure.:)

Sorry for derailing the thread BTW.

Edit: Clip posted in Tracer thread.

I don't think they would have the cheek to ask for DLC.
That depends on what they`re providing this way. It`s out of the question that any content sold this way would have to be 99% quality. What I mean is that they`re not too good with providing quality. There`s a difference between selling a game via retail for 30$ and releasing a single four engine bomber for say 8$. You don`t even pay such amount of money for dlc cars in FM3.
Other than that it`s not nice to ask money for what should have been in the very v1.0 of the game. So they should make sure that once I pay for this dlc I want to feel that I`m not getting ripped off. Personally I dislike all kinds of dlc and prefer big expansions, even for the same retail price (I didn`t think twice about buying Super Street Fighter 4 AE once I saw what`s new for example).
And when you give me that kind of content, provide something to go with it - full scale of armament that comes with a certain plane variant. Themes would be great : release a bomber pack, a fighter pack, a scenario pack.

But Before they could even think about DLC they would have to rebuild trust by fixing COD.
Once that is in a releasable state then they could maybe start with DLC.

Steam know if the game is coming or not, how could they not know.

On the DLC subject, I will buy under certain conditions.

1) The main game is fixed correctly and fully well before any paid for DLC appears

2) The DLC has content that is value for money and has a decent amount of content

3) They go nowhere near no-pay no-play, it divides the community. Arma 2 lite patch option must be used if they choose this route

4) They go nowhere near the DLC individual plane route, I dissagree with this model as i believe it is profiteering

Considering the size of the still loyal U.S. fan base of IL2.. in spite of the way that many U.S. aircraft have been neutered at various points in the sim either through loadouts or F.M. or DM (This includes more robust D.M.s for "other" aircraft..) ... it is still a slap in the face.. but most of us are like Redskins fans..
