Have just re-built my 5yr old pc. Gone from a Core 2 Duo E6600 P5B mb and 9600gt 1gb to an M4N98TD-EVO with a AMD 965 x 4 cpu and GTS450 1gb EVGA sc. Both systems were running Windows 7 64bit, the old one with 6gb of ram the new with 4gb of ram. The old system had most settings down to medium or low and struggled to get 25fps over land, the new has everything maxed out and I am getting 40--50fps over land. Yes this is a Sli mb but only running one GPU at the moment (future upgrade for the other card when COD gets optimised), smooth game play at last. looking forward to the next patch.

Apart from graphics card it is pretty much what I am using and I have seemed to be blessed with less problems than a lot are having plus I also get reasonable fps with everything maxed out. A good choice without spending a shed load. Debating whether the next upgrade should be an extra 8Gb ram and set it up as a ram drive or a second graphics card. But like you I am waiting to see what future optimisation brings.
