Hi all,

I'm having a poll over at the developers forum about Zoom in Simulator mode. It's maybe not such a problem in BOP since those who fly with Aviator or Custom mode don't have Zoom, but it could really become a problem for realism in the sequel. As I've seen with the flight model poll, most of you want to have it as realistic as possible, at least as an option.

For taking part in the poll click the link this line. (http://forum.gaijinent.com/index.php?/topic/3792-realistic-zoom-better-dogfights/page__pid__27009#entry27009)

You need to be registered there to participate.

Thanks,

I have trouble registering on that forum MAC, but i agree 100% with you about the zoom. I can't use it because i fly aviator but few considerations... Zoom isn't realistic at all but can be a good drawback on system with relatively low definition outputs... ( consolle like ps3 ) to read instrument panel ! :-) For example, i can't read the compass properly on 51 cockpit without zooming.... and i can't do that so i'm forced to open the map to get my bearing.....

Good point there Bobby, the new forum is a 100% better than the old yuplay forum but still a bit slow. Anyway, as good as discussion here are, much of this won't reach the devs, except the performance discussion we're having here which I'll somehow carry to them ;)

Vdomini and Gilly,

I checked and your names are both are already registered there. The old yuplay forum accounts were transferred over to the new forum, the memberships remain valid. If you remember the email address you used to sign up you can retrieve your password. Please don't use your membernames to request the password as this doesn't seem to work, but the email address.

Any problems, let me know.

Forget about zoom don't really use that, but i cant look behind me while using the flight stick. i can only look 90 degrees up, right and left. its a big draw back!

How do you get so many kills using the hat switch to look around? Amazing!

I use zoom to id targets at a distance. The way I figure it our eyes could pick out those colors at a greater distance than the the game allows and zoom just counters the shortcomings of 720p vision.

Im using the AV8R-02 ans using the hat switch i can only looks around me but not behind.

But using the great big stick thing at the bottom of the joystick (between the LSB and RSB buttons) i can look left, right, above, below and more importantly behind. In external view also.

I dont find it to much of an issue.

The issue i DO have with zoom though sometimes....

If im killed whilst zooming in, when i respawn im automatically zoomed in without me having to press anything to enable it. Can be a little disoriantating sometimes.

I do use zoom a bit.i liken it to squinting your eyes to see a distant object more clearly .i know your eyes arent zooming.but i'll bet pilots do alot of squinting.

Foz I think he ment that he can only look in those exact directions because the hat is digital on that stick not analog. So thats like us having to use the d-pad to look around the cockpit. I play 1946 like that (although even that is 45 degree movements not 90) and its really anoying. Thats why most people get head tracking.

Thats weird. I don't think I have ever had that happen to me.

I think this stick sensitivity issue needs to be drooped.it doesn't matter how sensitive or how big your flight stick is.the option should be a available for all players to enhance or curb their sensitivity.as the old saying goes its not how big your flight stick is ,its how you use it

One on one is kinda tricky, but if you have ever played with me all I can do is really tight circles around and around because, yep you guessed it I cant look at my 6. All I can really do is hold the pickle up so I am looking about 90 degrees up in my cockpit. This is really bad because players can yo-yo up above you, and you wont see them doing so. This is when you use the map kinda not real sim like but it works you have to pay close attention. when that dot stops moving for that quick second. It gives you a hint he/she is climbing. Big games is easy, if some one is shooting at you go for the crowd and get lost in it. Then circle round and pick them off if you can.
