Cool videos. Some of those boys were artists with their guns. Those low flying strafing runs were amazing. Can't imagine the terror of being inside one of those birds as it went into the ground or caught fire in the air. God bless em all.

Thanks for the video Steven, it is very good. Btw, a scene in the video which starts at 4:49, is a shame for a fighter pilot.

It surprises me more and more on how reckless some of the strafings were.. I mean, look at how many times you have bullets ricocheting all over the place and another allied plane flys by or around.. bonkers..

As for the strafing of people yeah, that's harsh, but no worse than what's going on in Iraq/Afghanistan.. war is hell boys..

I am a "hunt for my food southerner" and although the Japanese got what they deserved, it is hard to watch this and say, "man that's cool." Knowing that my family and friends were peppered to death by .50's and the debris they caused would be rough.

War ain't held on some distant battlefield, but it is going to happen in our own backyards. It use to be that the lands being explored were where most of the fighting took place among the world's powers, but not anymore.

I do love my 50 cals though.

Any video freaks here know of any good filters that can recreate this video effect for this period?

..so let me get this straight, they got what they deserved, but it's hard to watch and say "that's cool". Your family and friends were peppered to death by .50cals "and the debris they caused would be rough", the war is gonna happen in our backyards and still, you love your .50cals..

Man, whatever you're on, I'd like a shot of it...

Again, sure you're not related to Raaaid? ;)

Excellent videos. In both, I was surprised to see so many explosions/fires as compared to the current damage model in the sim. Seems those fuel tanks are a bit more combustible than our sim-versions!

I agree but only out of frustration. I think it is me more than the sim. Not being able to light-up someone who I was firing at. Realistic damage model the is the best in CoD.

And I believe logic would point to this was likely was put together by someone whose purpose was to string all the "fire" videos together in one clip.

This could very well be from several missions over who knows how long of a stretch of time and an unknown number of people / missions.

You're quite right, no doubt these clips are the 'best of' as it were. Slight frustration here too, as I don't seem to get many of those 'burst of flame' kind of hits... but that's probably because I'm a terrible shot ;)

One reason for the many firery resuts is that the Japanese planes didn't have self sealing fuel tanks, or armour.

+1 jap planes were known to catch fire very quickly.
Compare that to the german guncams. Even 20mm rounds seem to have a hard time setting these b17 on fire.

Came across this on BBC iplayer, about the building of a Wellington in record time. Has some nice recollections from 'Wimpy' pilots towards the end - makes me wish our Welly was flyable! :)

Depends on the type. Late war IJN and IJAFC single seaters did indeed have self sealing tanks, though they were not as effective as the Allied ones were. Also most Japanese fighters got armor as the war progressed, especially the very late designs like the George, though the Ki 61 had pilot and radiator armor from the get go.

As to the reason we don't see Imperial Japanese warplanes "light up" like they do in gun cam footage, well, it's simple. In the stock game all US .50 Browning arned aircraft have incorrect ammo belting.

First video some nice footage ..did anyone notice the guy in the parachute? Note the only time footage is rolling is when the gun trigger is pressed...sad

Number 2 video is about the battle of britian another nice put together film however most of the footage is after 1940 .. england doesn't have canals other then the thames and spitfires have no reason to shoot at there own boats or trains

but both videos were fun to watch thanks

I don't think he was shooting at him. I believe they could switch on the camera without pulling the trigger. I am not 100% sure on that though.

Yes the Japanese planes were tinderboxes thanks for reminding me.
