compared to most of the PC being used for CLoD.
Yes the AI planes need adjusted like the 109's that fly better the more lead thy carry. Thy seem to like lead in there fuel.
And the voice tracks are well need worked on to say the lest.
And the pointer that stays on the screen is an eye sore.
Other then some twicks the the CLoD team are working on>
This sim is looking like a keeper.
After getting the MSWFF Pro2 and flying CLoD. The FFB is just the best bar none.
This video shows how well CLoD is running on my PC with my video card set on quality. CLod set on high but buildings and forest on mid.
Thank you for the patch's. Keep them coming.
I have looked at some other flight sim comments of when thy first hit the street, LOL you could copy and past what was being sayed about them to CLoD.
Enjoy the video in HD.

In Bombers over London with the same settings. The FPS are averaging 25. In the free flight over london flying low same setting averaging around 25 FPS. and no shutters.
This is also using TIR5 and fraps will flying.
I have other sims that do not do that well. Such as CFS3 and the expansions, OFF phase 2, FSX gold addiction with the F-18 superbug that is very hard on fps.
(I have taken the Superbug off my PC and the PC runs much better. Its what it sayes it is a superBUG.)
And thy do not look neerly as good as CLoD.
When I was looking at CPU's I read reviews on the Intel core Duo E8600 @ 3.33GHz that sayed thy out preformed the 4 core CPU's in gaming. I would have to say thy were right. Most people will never use a 4 or more CPU unless there multi-tasking to the extrim. And it harder on games when thy try to use so many core. It slows the game down.
We also have a 4 core PC that I have tried flight sims on and thy did not do as well as the Intel core Duo E8600 @ 3.33GHz.

If I where to put the setting lower I would get much better FPS. And CLoD would still Look good.
When you download a patch the setting are on MED.
So that would tell me that's where the best preferments are found.
I'm pretty sure the DEV's have told the owens of CLoD just that. LOL

I have an almost similar system you have. Duo6600 running at 3.4ghz. I think what saves your performance is the 470. I'm running an 8800gts 640mb and my performance over land is in the mid teens. Over water I can have a nice dogfight in the high twenties. Still stuck with the 14072 beta patch. Everything after it performs worse. If they ever get this thing patched up properly I upgrade accordingly.

My performance isn't quite as good as yours, AARPRazorbacks, but I am quite happy with what I have. I tried all settings at highest when first checking CloD out. FPS were 3-4 flying low over London in freeflight. After resetting everything to medium (except for Model and Texture Quality to High) my FPS went up to upper teens over London at lowest and staying mostly in upper 20's with the mirror on. Game performance seems much like IL2 46 to me and is thoroughly enjoyable even though FPS is sharply reduced on my rig when compared to IL2 46. CloD is just a joy to see. The aircraft and cockpits are drop-dead gorgeous and they alone would sell me on this sim. I personally think acceptance in the combat flight sim community will continue to grow as the development team continues to make improvements before the Western release. I look forward to flying it online.

Sorry to break the Core 2 Duo spell for you, had one before that my 8 year old has now and I played CoD on it (and it ran really good on that one too after the patches - but not near my new CPU).
Look in this thread:
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=22448
The conclusion is that my old rig (E8500@3.3 so identical to your CPU) with my new GTX580 card had half the FPS in CoD compared to my new i7 2600k rig with the same graphics card... So the CPU matters very much in CoD and the Core 2 Duos are really not enough.
But you are right that the the late Core 2 Duos where great for gaming compared to the Core 2 Quads in many cases, but they don't stand up against the new Sandy Bridges that are easily overclocked to insane speeds. Mine runs fine at 5.0Ghz on air but I run a "cool" overclock at 4.5 to not strain it.

You maybe right about the 470.
When I got this GPU I was told that the 470 over heated and could be a problem.
To get the 580 when thy had it in stock.
The 470 is not getting any hotter then any other GPU I have had.
The 580 is a better GPU for sure but I'm happy the 470.
I have 2 Saitek x52 Joysticks and now a MSWFF PRO2.
Just today I set up the 2 x52 throttles to use as duel throttle control in CLoD.
Works great!
The throttle on the MSWFF I use as the wheel brakes.
I was never really able to take off in the Blenheim's.
I can now take off going start down the runway in the stock mission.
Heavy on the right engine very light on the left engine until your back wheel is off the ground.
Then put the the pedal to the metal with both right and left.
Thats it.

Glad to hear that your new set up is doing so well in CLoD.
The Intel core Duo E8600 has more guts then the 8500 but still a good GPU.
Your system is as good if not better then the guys saying thy can't get CLoD to run right. LOL
You must be holding you mouth right.LOL
