What's going on with this delay, of another month they can't come to an agreement? or what?

Its going to hurt your sales if this keeps up.

I see Steam took the COD forums down now its just IL2.

And now I can't purchase this over seas they ended that.

I bought it from GetGames and now I can't use it because the Credit cards are USA and so thats preventing selling it to me.

Ubi$oft made it region specific thats a bunch a crap soon you wont be able to by anything because of this business practice.

I agree that it's frustrating, but locking regions out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_lockout) has probably been done to ensure that Ubisoft gets the $$ for all North American region sales (which I suppose is fair, but annoying).

Not steam's fault, they dont decide the launch dates, its either the devs or ubi and its because the game they are selling is not what it is advertised as.

And region locking has been going on since... pretty much the start of gaming?

If anything its easier to purchase games from overseas today then its ever been. And I don't really see what steam has to do with this, its purely up to the publisher to decide the release date, which is Ubi.

Get it from Just Flight. Did it a week ago.

Those guys must be making a fortune (by the standards of aviation simulation, of course).

You can also simply have a friend gift it to you through steam.

And Steam will make sure it stays locked until July 19th.

Sorry for saying so, but seeing the number of computer illiterate complaints (as in "it never occurred to me to ever test how something works, so i'll just call it a bug because it's different than what i'm used to from IL:1946") and the actual, real issues of the sim during the European release, i think this is for the best.

I mean no offense to you Mastiff and i know you've been around a long time, this is not directed at you. What i'm trying to say is that releasing it into a market of a few hundred million before some basic stuff are fixed and some cryptic features properly documented will inundate the boards with cries of "tar and pitchforks" all over again.

For example, due to the complexity of the aircraft models there's a whole lot of stuff people think are bugs which are actually realistic limitations and features, took us all over on this side of the pond the better part of a month figuring most of it out and apart from the forums, they are not documented anywhere else.

I too prefer to get an early peek at a beta release because i like tinkering with stuff and in that regard, i completely understand your impatience: "better to have it today and work with what's there than having to wait until everything is perfect" and all that.

In the grand scale of things however, it would generate a lot of bad press if it was released in its current state, even though it's much improved from the barely playable version i installed a month ago.

And perhaps Ubi does not need all the lawsuits they'll get for introducing an almost-but-not-entirely--totally-quite completed product on the US market...

Judging by the amount of whining and temper tantrums on this forum they would be absolutely right IMO :grin:

I don't think Steam has ever had a COD forum. Everyone just uses the IL-2 forums.

Hi Mastiff,

Was that for the gifting option or for JustFlight? I got CoD just a week or so ago using Just Flight and had no problems. They might've realised what was going on though.

COD was obviously delayed in the west by the Publishers/Developers. The funds garnered by the Eastern release enabled further work to been done on COD to avoid some of the negative publicity generated by the early release in the east. This is great news for the community as it strongly suggests that COD will be supported for the long term.

I didn't experience any region lock when I purchaced the collectors edition from a friend in England. COD loaded thru Steam in Canada with no problem.

Could be that Steam is waiting to get full price on IL-2 CoD?
They charge 49.99 Euro in Europe, and with todays exchange, it will be 70 US$.

I don't think anyone at 1 C can tell the truth ,just a bunch of liars

it's all blame UBI and maybe that is still true but at least 1 C can post some info on the North American release which now seems to have a very vague release date

Well I guess I have to wait, just like in WWII the American's came 2 years later. I hope we don't have to wait that long. Definitely will be behind the learning curve.

In the mean Time I'm really enjoying the newest updates for ROF plays quit well on this new home built rig.

1C isn't the North American distributer genius! They can't make announcements regarding what will happen with the product in North America, that's Ubisoft's dept.

Try using that thing on your shoulders once in a while.

You clearly don't know what you are talking about because the developers (I believe that's what you mean by 1C) have been exceptionally and loudly quiet about it. They have no explained the release date delays in any way, and the rare times they have assigned blame for anything they have blamed themselves. If you wish to appear foolish in the extreme, then by all means continue to call people liars. A wise man once said "it is better to remain silent and be thought foolish than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt".

I would just try buying it from Just Flight. Lots of us in the US did that rite off the bat and even some have done it recently and it has been working and updating on steam with no issues. Good Luck :) Cheers

Hey you Americanos !

Dont complain. Seriously, I would have prefered waiting another 6 or 7 months instead of beeing cheated for my money with a f.....-up sim that is not even half finished on the release date ! ! !

It is still in the development process, and by no means you cant call it finished.
So better wait until you get something decent for your money.
Or would you prefer to be screwed like us Europeans who have been fooled as paying beta-testers for Ubisoft ?

I `d rather wait and play NFS-Shift2 in the meantime !

BULLSHIT
1 C can tell us what is going on
as if they don't know about all the delays

1C Company = Russia/Eastern Europe
Ubisoft = Western Europe, North America, Australia, etc...

1C is not going to spend time talking about delays in the American market when it is Ubisoft who are in charge of that and have all the info. 1C is a distributer/publisher, not the developer (even though they work very closely with them). Maddox Games are the devs, and they post on these forums which causes a little confusion over who whey are. Luthier might hint about delays, or reasons, but he will not outright say Who/What/Where/When/Why because that is not his job, and legally he is not allowed to leak that info. All info pertaining to the North American release is the sole responsibility of Ubisoft and to a lesser extent Steam since they are distributing the game here. If 1C were to make decisions and statements about the N. American release, they why bother having Ubisoft involved in the first place?

1C Company explaining why CloD is being delayed in the N. American Market would be like Apple America explaining why Chinese customers have to wait a month to get their iPhones. It doesn't work like that, and if it did there would be some royally pissed off people in Apple's Chinese dept.

@ Icewolf

UBI = Western Publisher
IC = Eastern Publisher
Steam = distributer
Maddox Games = Developer

Maddox games the Developer say they are working on the sim and the latest patches prove they are. I'm not sure what more they can say. Its almost impossible to give a definitive date on bug fixing and feature additions. The western release is delayed to provide a better product that will help avoid further bad publicity. UBI/IC/Steam/Maddox Games/Community want the sim to succeed, it will just take time and patience. The early eastern release made it possible to continue work on the sim for the benefit of all.

I have to admit that I was highly annoyed when the North American Steam release date changed.
Steam is a really good way to buy games these days although I still appreciate owning a hard copy.
That being said, after I read about all of the bugs and bumps that needed to be ironed out in the sim, I was very glad that it was not ME who was pulling my hair out trying to get it to run properly.
I figure that by the time the July release comes around, or whenever it gets released, is doing me a favor.
Let me run the sim when the sim is running well.
