Hello all.

As a member of Tactics & Teamwork (http://www.tacteam.org/forums/cmps_index.php) community I'd 1st like to say hello. We have after some initial teething issues we got a dedicated server running Cliffs of Dover. Our server will be open to all and I'd like to invite you all to test it out. The server is base in the UK.

We plan to run our own unique missions based on the full size map made by yours truly here. Initially our server will run the following settings. Full realism with Map Icons & Outside views on. We will regularly review our settings and listen to community feedback. The thinking behind having the map icons & outside view enabled is simple. We want to have a balance between realism & fun. We want to be able to find our enemy and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I do have concerns that people will exploit the outside views but i think it is good to have it on initially.

A little about Tactics & Teamwork: T&T has been a small gaming community that recently has caught the flight sim bug in a big way. We have our roots in fps gaming in the 1990s but we have now developed into a realism community preferring fairly hardcore realism gaming. We play the DCS series; mainly A10c, Rise of Flight, Cliffs of Dover & Arma2. (We also have been known to run screaming like wee girls from hordes of zombies in Left 4 Dead).

Due to our shift over the last couple of years from fps games to flight sims our community has shrunk and we have not been actively recruiting; this we are changing. We are a bunch of old farts with families, work commitments & all the other bollocks one has to deal with, we range in age from mid twenties to late forties. All ages are welcome to join us, but maturity is a must. We like to live up to our name.. and use both tactics & teamwork.. even if our tactics can be somewhat shoddy! Bottom line is we play games/sims for fun, nothing more nothing less. We are not experts at any of the sims we play, all experience & skill levels are very welcome. Come and say hello on our web site or on TS.

We have members from across Europe, we only speak English, all nationalities are very welcome.

We have a Teamspeak3 server that you are welcome to use if you are on our servers or just want to socialise with us:

(I'll use the next post to give details about the current missions running on our server)

Current Mission: 15th September 1940, Battle of Britain Day

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/9971/15thsept19402.jpg

Dawn start: 4am sunrise.

Red: United Kingdom
Blue: Germany & Italy

Red are on defence, defending the skies over UK and defending London & RAF bases under attack.

Blue on the attack, attacking RAF bases and London and fighting for dominance of the skies.

Red have 5 spawn locations Blue have 4. All usable aircraft are available on both sides at all spawn points.

The mission is based upon the 15th September 1940 know as Battle of Britain Day. One of the busiest days of the war and often seen as the day it turned in Britain's favour.

Day 68 – 15th September 1940
Weather: fine

Fighter Command Serviceable Aircraft as at 0600 hours:
Blenheim – 47
Spitfire – 192
Hurricane – 389
Defiant – 24
Gladiator – 8
Total – 660

Weather wise this was finally the opportunity the Luftwaffe had been waiting for. Accordingly, in mid-morning the radar along the south coast picked up evidence of mass raids which duly appeared over southern England heading for London. All three groups, 10, 11 and 12 in southern England now played their part in intercepting the incoming armada. There were no less than 30 squadrons who were engaged in intercepting and contesting the progress of this vast fleet of German bombers. Furthermore, the latter was accompanied by a very strong force of Me109s. Naturally, despite the aerial battles which developed, substantial damage was done to London.

Reported Casualties (RAF Campaign Diary 15th September1940):

* Enemy: 186confirmed, 42 probable, 72 damaged
* Own: 25 aircraft with 13 pilots killed or missing.

Current script running.

Script calls from a pool of sub missions that are loaded every 35 minutes. The script randomly selects from the pool but does not choose the presently running sub mission to avoid mission repeat. (Presently there are 3 missions in the pool). I intend to have 6+ and have this mission run for long periods as a perpetual on-line war scenario.

The script also calls 2 submissions that have a delay of 10 & 30 minutes respectively and are repeated every 60 minutes.

So there are 5 sub missions in the current mission. These overlap and i hope they give a busy(ish) sky. I don't want it too busy while i test fps, but presently the server is silky smooth.

The scripts removes crashed & abandoned aircraft.

If you are one of the 1st few on the server go red: i.e British.
As there are a series of raids by German & Italian bombers and you will see more action. You can have a lot of fun playing the mission as a coop if you want.

Special thanks to Ataros for the scripts help and anyone else who has been helpful!

Hey Furbs..

There are some Red AI, not much though. The mission is asymmetrical. My thinking was that the the 'humans' would play the part of the fighters, either attacking or defending the Axis bombers. And i wanted it to be based on the BoB, the RAF were not bombing Europe at this time. That is why i suggested you go Red if there are few on the server.

I was also concerned with adding too much AI initially and bogging down performance. However with the overall lack of players playing MP CloD I think I'm gonna add a lot more AI.. and see how that goes.
