anyone look at FSX lately and notice the dull 'indoor' lighting on the aircraft in direct sunlight, and laughable excuse for "ocean"? CloD kinda ruins FSX for me :(

wot's that @ 10 and 18 and 38 and 47 seconds in? and even the low altitude over water reveals the jerkiness of the sim
FSX always was alright at commecial airline height though... jitters terrain pops and heartache close to the ground though, z-fighting(?) with other aircraft and scenery objects

Yeah OT got owned there xD... Naaaaa but CloD definately looks better, but if anything from your FSX experience got ruined so much it was gonna be a thread in this forum... I PERSONALY would have brought up the cockpits... (It is true though, from the video above, the lack of shadows effect are very noticable now even on the outside... )
As for the ocean, I'd say they both the same kind of... And in both I really hate to see clouds and airplanes being reflected so nicely on completely disturbed water... Looks nice, but VERY unrealistic.

As long as a2a keeps pumping out accusimmed ww2 prop planes, this sim will never die for me

That's weird, because now I've finished the British campaign in CoD, I've shelved it until multiplayer is sorted and picked up FSX again!
The overall graphics quality of CoD is far superior to FSX, even with a few expensive FSX add-onns, although I think the freeware tiger moth I have is nicer than CoD's, but last night I flew a quick Liverpool to Cardiff in the dark with a thunderstorm in a Hawker Hunter (freeware) and had a real nail biting immersive experience.
So FSX ain't dead for me. Not yet anyway!

I think FSX is great. The graphics are far below Cliffs but most everything else is superior...overall immersion, stability, the missions, SOUND, etc. I am a huge fan of combat sims but FSX is the best overall sim I've ever played. If you have not experienced FSX you should really get it.

FSX,GEX,UTX,RTX > CoD anyday.
plus you can fly anywhere in the world,
there are literally thousands of mods,
I think your probably thinking this way because
there is no combat in FSX, because if there were,
no one would be playing flat maps like this game.
Luthier, your next project....a moddable globe to build upon
would ensure domination for IL2 period.

Clod is set in what some call the "golden age" of flight.
Yet somehow, despite it's aspirations of on line play, I don't envisage anyone taking the time to model Empire flying boats and starting up a virtual airline.
Nor do I predict a whole counter culture of air traffic controllers logging in to help with the Berlin Airlift.
That's no comment on the state of Clod, it's just two different worlds.

Ok so do you think the A2A Spit is better than the COD Spit? Even if it is, and from what I have seen I prefer the cockpit in the COD Spit, you have spent more for that one plane than the whole game/sim of COD.

Yes. there is such an addon. But its not about aerial combat. You can shoot down AI-aircraft and such things. But they wont shoot back or whatever.
I dont know why compare the FSX with CloD  Its like comparing bricks with astronauts.

I've logged some hours on a friend's PC, we even did a 10-hour VOR to VOR flight from Bahamas to St.Marten in the Aerosoft Catalina over the course of 2-3 evenings (taking turns on the controls and using the mid-flight save feature).
I liked it a lot and it taught me much about CEM.
That being said, i can't compare it with CoD. They are fundamentally different in many of the things they try to do and especially, the amount of budget involved, add-on pricing and availability of 3rd party add-ons (payware and freeware alike). A single aircraft in FSX can be as much as the entire package of CoD and not all payware FSX add-ons are that good to justify the price (although the ones that are good really stand out and give you tons of immersion and satisfaction when you manage to start flying them correctly).
It's just that CoD is still too young and frequent beta patches create a much varied user base in regards to the versions used, that's why every other sim has more avenues to get extra content from and CoD multiplayer has not picked up yet. It was the same with FSX too, it took some time until people moved over from FS9, it's just the natural progression of how things go.

If a light is to small chances are you probably don't see it reflect, or merely just a spark for an instant. Talking about my experience anyways.
And even when the sea is extremely calm, there are ALWAYS gonna be little waves every now and then which disforms the reflection. I have already seen lights (from a tower/ building ) being reflected off seemingly calm sea as a long line accross the sea. But anyways my point is: It looks nice, but it sure as heck ain't realistic at ALL!
