According to the Track IR website this game is not listed as been supported, but in game it sort of works.

http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/03-enhanced-games/enhanced-games-flight.html

My question is basically is it supported?

Thanks

It is supported. and works very well ingame. Although for them to list the game, apparently there is somthing the developers need to do before that can happen. the TIR spokesman said this in a thread somewhere. The issue will be lower down in the priority lists, expect to see it in the future.

Glad to hear that. I am tempted to buy a TrackIR5, but not so sure since it is relatively expensive (it is a toy afterall). Knowing that it is working well with CloD is a step forward to purchase for me.

Works just fine, especially with a custom profile to fit your playing/posture style.

Getting the game listed will allow TIR to load your choice of flight profile automatically with it but otherwise there isn't much difference. We're just waiting for Luthier to get around to getting back to NaturalPoint when he has a chance.

Toy?...you're joking,christ I can't imagine flying combat sims without one,more like a 'tool' as you're joystick is........Don't tell me,you fly using a keyboard,lol.

I to felt like that before I purchased TiR.

I thought I was spending money on a "treat", a frivolous toy, but as it was something I knew I wanted I thought "what the hell, if im going to buy it ONE day, why not now? Why delay ?

Now one year later I could not ever consider flying without it, never for one moment have I regreted buying it. Besides when you consider the investment you have made in your complete rig, software and how fast all these items become obsolete its not THAT expensive in fact its virtually a sound investment !

My advice is, if its on your "to do" list just do it, why put off the moment ?

I'm furiously chasing down a unit as we speak.
This is one peripheral that I think will transform your game, and I've yet to read a bad review about it.

I've had a Track IR4 for a while now, works really well with COD. It is nearly as good as the 5 and can be picked up quite a lot cheaper and you can use the track ir 5 software with it which is superior to the 4. Its also very good for ARMA2 and Rise of Flight which I imagine a lot of you simmerd also own.

Ebay is aways an option if you are struggling to justify the cost, although they do sometimes sell second hand at nearly new prices! just goes to show how in demand they are.

Buy one, you will never look back! (in fact thats not true at all, you will 'look back' when ever you like, just by turning your head slightly :))

i am using trackIR3 pro with 6dof and it works as well. Only the field of sensor is smaller so i have to center my head exactly :). With trackIR you have more immersion than tripplehead monitoring or things like that.

It works great with COD. It feels so right. You won't regret it.

I just got my unit this afternoon.

It's an impressive piece of kit, and thankfully I don't suffer from the motion sickness that some have.
It's going to take quite a bit of getting used to though, and setting up a decent profile takes some time. (Still not happy with my profile, despite about 2 hours tweaking.)

Despite a few profile hiccups, this is clearly the only way to fully enjoy flight sims...it's like going from a keyboard to a hotas system.
The difference between this little beaut and using the hatswitch or mouse is enormous.

My favorite thing about COD is the 6DOF immersion!!

I sit in a swivel - style chair, and sometimes I get to dancin around like Ray Charles... :)

BTW, don't think twice about Track IR... It is equally as important as a joystick.
You will love it..

Both the trackIR camera and the track clip need to be powered, so they use USB connectors.

The way it was on my trackIR4, the camera had a USB connector that i plugged into an available slot on my case and on the same stretch of cable there was a secondary outlet for the track clip pro.

Ironically enough, whereas my track clip broke within the first two months of use and i've resorted to holding it together with adhesive tape ever since, it's still alive, but the camera died on me recently and i can't get it work.
I now use the track clip pro with a webcam and freetrack as an alternative method.

I loved the way it worked and i can recommend it, but i'm a bit worried about their overall longevity after having it malfunction within just two years, so i'm using a free alternative for now.

I've had Track IR 3 thru 5. Track IR 5 with Track Clip Pro is way better than the previous iterations. I never (well, very rarely) have to recenter Track IR in flight sims or ARMA II anymore.

(My Track Clip Pro came apart out of the box too but duct tape holds it together without issue)

Get it. You will never look back! Oh wait, check your six!~

LMAO!!!! Please post a Picture of that!!!!

Seriously... Bought the TIR5 pro bundle and cannot believe it... Like someone else said, I don't even have to center it anymore. I could never go back.. Take care of this little gem, the proclip is delicate. If it died today, I would buy another. Fits perfectly on the Logitec G930 Headset.

Did not know what I was missing. I use in A10-C which is unreal... ..there are views you will not see without it.

Have you sorted your tracking issue out yet, Doc? It's simply a matter of editing the settings in your profile.

I just ordered my first trackir so I hope it works well with COD :) I took the 5 with a Track Clip Pro ;) Btw, I was having a look at the differences between trackir 4 and 5 but the number don't tell me anything. What is a noticeable difference between the two versions ?

cheers

well the Track Ir 4 has an issue and that happened to my first Track Ir, luckily I used the guarantee.
I think that's the main problem you could find with a Track ir 4.
http://forum.naturalpoint.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=35004&page=1
Track ir 5 is more accurate and it has a wider range of capture
With Track Ir 5 you have to check just if it's not between two serial numbers.

The Track Ir 5 has less issues and is better obviously ;)

The FOV is larger as well as the polling rate of 120hz. ;)

PM me and I'll send you my tweaked profile or search on these forums under my name and you should find a link to it.

Keep in mind that after a while of getting used to it you'll need to adjust any profile according to your own needs such as how far away you sit, sensitivities in different axes, smoothing, amount of deadzone, etc. It really is worth getting a good idea how the parameters for each axes affect the way you move in-game so it just seems natural.

A word of caution to anyone who is using the Pro Clip ... handle it as if it was gold foil ...

Mine broke in Feb and I still haven't heard back from Natural Point about claiming it under warrantee, I'm in my last month of warrantee and I'm about to hit the panic button!

EDIT: Just checked my emails .. Micheal from Natural Point has shipped a replacement today!!! That is customer service.

I play RoF as well as IL-2 46/CoD and I use the same TrackIR profile for both games (I have TrackIR 5).

I downloaded my TrackIR profile from here: http://riseofflight.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=12051&hilit=trackir (see signature of OP in that thread - "Requiem 6DOF.rar")

It takes some getting used to, and you may want to tweak it to better suit you, but its a good starting point.

My trackclip broke in the same spot within a fortnight of purchase, didnt think to ask for a replacement, so currently that marvelous tool gaffer tape is holding it together.

Had my TrackIR4 for over two years, now have version 5 software.

No problems with either hardware or software.

I tend to prefer the hat-clip to the pro-clip, but that's only because headphones cook my ears after a while.

Also I've found the pro-clip seems to run out of FoV more easily than the hat-clip.

Cliffs of Dover was perfect with simple adjustments to speed and smooth parameters only. Latest game patches seem to make it less perfect than originally however.

Once you're used to it, it's impossible to fly without it, because you keep turning your head and nothing happens! :)

Totally indispensable piece of kit.

Anyone built their own tracking device with IR-leds etc and had a chance to compare tracking with Natural Points trackclip Pro?
Was thinking amount of degrees of the leds kinda.
