Even though I'm making this post to, I feel I am falling into the trap of just going in circles on the Official Forum.

However, all I see currently on the Forums is this;

Post A: Let's praise the Developers, they will make a great game. Lots of for and against replies.

Post B: Let's criticise the Developer's, why did they release the game in a Beta condition. Lots of for and against replies.

Post C: Let's praise the Developers, they made a great game, it just needs us all to love it. Lots of for and against replies.

Post D: Let's criticise the Developer's, this is not a game, it's a complete bug-fest. Lots of for and against replies.

and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on.

So my final point, it's Marmite at the moment...you either love it or hate it.....but maybe you will one-day be able to spread it on your toast and enjoy it.....or carry on hating it!

Either-way, whatever you post, another post will turn up again in one derivation of the above examples and draw us in to a Flame/Love War!

That's all, cheers, MP

So what your're saying is that instead of typing alot of stuff already said we can refer to this thread and just post A/B/C/D?

I'll try that, thanks!

whatever, all I know that with all my knowledge (HW and SW), all the tweaks and tricks applied, beta tester experience, my i7920@3.5Ghz, GTX470 twinfrozr2 OC to 750mhz on core, 6GB DDR3 1333mhz, win7 64bit - Im still having poor performance with CLOD...with last beta patch that is.....all other simulations (HW demanding too; ROF included) looks and works much better....much better....so, with CLOD, even when it worked I had slowdowns when planes on fire etc....online and offline...sound and land is awfull, well beyond everything what we COULD EXPECT from 1C...so whatever we say, do (report bugs etc.), Im still not able to enjoy in this sim which we all waited for years...45 bucks I trashed is the least prob here...
I didnt expect CLOD to be perfect from the start (ROF wasnt)....but we have non working AA, awfull external engine sounds, awfull landscape, STILL not optimised game (ROF was optimised and fixed after few patches), "comedy" with steam and AP filter at release...and the most important - no proper communication with customers (there they can take lessons from 777 studios, creators of ROF)....so where is the Sun here? Please tell me...

My God man......I think he's got it!!! Lol!

I think you will see it is for the best. It'll mean just copying this Thread address and posting it into whichever new one starts. Hopefully, that way, we can leave the Forum open for interesting stuff like can we get this improved or, this needs attention rather than the multitude of We Love You, We Hate You threads?

Cheers, MP

I think most of you know my feelings about the development of CLOD, all the things i was asking questions about have mostly come to fruition unfortunately. However, the game is what is is and the rest is history, the only way now is forward or back to Il2 Sturm. Everything else has been said, its now time for the whiners and fanboys to help report bugs in the hope that this software can eventually move forward.

Not hating to deepest hell nor praising to heaven and back. I just wait what will happen with CoD after US release and how the patches will fix issues reported here. Then I will start dig into it. Until then just testing the patches to see if any differences to previous versions and such.

And no, not gonna praise RoF either. I have it and like it. But I can say that World of Tanks offers me most fun at the moment even with it's more than clear pro-Russian bias. But nevertheless that game works and offers something to kill time with :D

well ... in all of the above categories of post I have no difficulty understanding the frustration of the so called 'haters' (is someone who feels screwed really a 'hater' or merely someone who needs to vent their anger and frustration?). However, I have much more difficulty understanding, and empathising with the lovers.

The logic of those who believe that we should be grateful to the producers of a broken product (I think we can agree on the verity of that term) when they try to fix it completely defies me.

Some of the most interesting (and entertaining) defences are those which try to convince us that 'hey, this is normal, all great games are broken on release'. Ah, the narcotic qualities of self delusion

Hence I read the posts, and try to understand

Sorry Mystic Puma, but the threads on this forum are way too entertaining to relegate to a. b. c. d. etc. Where's the fun in that?

best wishes, gwpc

Pretty much how i view the current situation. Sure, there's a lot of problems with CoD and even my most expected feature (CEM) seems a bit weird or in need of some tweaking, but after flying CoD i just can't go back to IL2-style CEM. It was fine for its time, but it seems too simplistic after flying CoD.

This might be a bit hazy now, but it will become very interesting in later expansions with late-war hotrod fighters.
I could fly blue and be outperformed at 30000ft by pretty much any allied fighter but i'll have a fully automatic ride with big guns, or i can fly red and have the best performing fighters with smaller guns and completely manual engine management that terribly adds to the workload (mixture, prop pitch, throttle, turbocharger, intercoolers, oil coolers, radiators/cowl flaps).

Interestingly enough, the situation is reversed in the early war planesets where the axis usually has the performance advantage (constant speed props or two-stage props on allied aircraft vs fully manual pitch control on luftwaffe aircraft), so we end up with a more balanced sim without having to compromise accuracy to artificially balance it, in fact it's more accurate with the new CEM.

In IL2 every aircraft was more or less similar and with far less controls needed (even if they are there, there's no real penalty for not using them correctly), which ends up favoring the best performing aircraft in each case (blue for early war, red for late war).

After flying CoD and having to work for that extra performance i just can't go back to IL2. It's still on my hard-drive, but i haven't touched it once since installing CoD.
