I would like to upgrade my computer.
Could someone from Maddox Games give me the specifications of their computer that ran a 40-50 airplane combat scenario at low level over London?
Thanks

The most expensive one you can afford at the moment, I wouldn't spend 5 cents on any upgrades until this game is finished. Good luck though!

Right now an i7 2600k clocked to 4.5GHz and upwards coupled with a GTX 580 is pretty much the top end, because radeons have all sorts of problems and that CPU will be the fastest available.
addman is correct though - there's no point upgrading right now. tidying up the code and a generation or two of hardware will be what it takes to play coD with lots of planes/city scapes below.
For some kind of reference - I tried to max out one of the new quick missions last night - I had 116 'planes in the air - I wouldn't call it playable, but neither was it a complete slideshow. That was with max settings all round, except SSAO and epilepsy filter, at 1920x1200.

Buy another GTX for SLI and try that mission again. ;-)

Oh I imagine he is too, but if you wanna get some serious hardware, then you need to get one of these. 2 x HEX core Xeon CPU's @4ghz and 4 x 580GTX's. (our dedicated server minus the GPU's)
That should run it quite nicely! Don't forget you'll need 2 x 1500w PSU's as well. :)

Why does a dedicated server need all those graphics cards?
In IL2 a dedicated server only passed Positional and other info between the player computers. All graphics processing was done client side. Decidedly low spec machines worked well as a dedicated host.

Who said a dedicated server needed GPUs? I clearly said ours didn't have any "(minus the GPU's)". That is a home system being shown.

I'm afraid that your subtle irony is wasted here, good try though. Wouldn't it be great if someone from Maddox games actually responded:!:

My pc ran 80+ planes over London plus flak quite nicely :P. So no problems on this end. This is the same thing that was with the original IL2, you need a good computer to run it at acceptable levels of detail and AC number in the air.

We don't always agree, but when we do it's 100%.

There are faster cpus than that, they just cost an arm and a leg.

Nope. The game must have been performing OK on the MG computer that tested the finish game before release. What better way to test the game than with a large number of a/c at low level over London. So, it must have been performing OK for MG to take the May Day holiday.

I don't know what there's was, but I ran 80 He111's 110's and 109's at 4Km over Londer against my 12 Spitfires and I was getting mid 50's in fps. When it broke down and I went to the deck chasing 109's and 110's it went into the 30's. 1920X1200 All on HIGH with SSAO/EPILEPSY = OFF SHADOWS = OFF.

lol, Andy!!
SHADOWS = OFF
seems a bit pointless to me, the shadows are the only thing this game has going for it:confused:

Since COD is not optimized.... at moment there is not a good computer for this simulator...... but as you know.. the problem is not our computer. So wait for upgrade your pc! :)

Yeah, but for lower end systems its a pretty significant performance savings.. for me it is the difference between 90-100 fps and 65-75 fps so I use them :) If it was the difference between 40-50 and 20-30 I might think differently though

My $200 CPU and $325 single graphics card runs it at 100 fps at 1920 X 1200 with all settings to high... not sure what else you would ask for but while I have a good system its a top 15% not top 1% in terms of performance..

Your sig says 7600 rpm drive, don't you mean 7200 rpm drive?
I'm just waiting on a cpu cooler for a 2500k system. So even 65 frames sounds great to me. Getting 30-20 fps with current system.
