I got a phonecall from a friend when I was in a hurry and had no time for long conversation. He told me something about the Ubisoft logo that appears at the beginning when you start the game. He said that this was causing some graphical problems and if you rename it in the config.ini so it does not appear anymore, those problems are solved.
A second thing he told me was about the people on the ground, walking and in vehicles (groundcrew etc. ...), they can be made visible by activating a point in the config.ini that is called "activate humans" or something.

As I was in a hurry I had no time to discuss it with him, so here my question, does anyone of you know more about these things and can we really change it in the config.ini ?
Somewhere else I have read something about "not messing" with the config because that could corrupt patches or cause ban from servers or something in some way. Does anyone know more about that?
:)

have heard about both of them.

i know you cna delete the ubi video.

i also know that, as exemple, in the black death track, when the buffor 40mm is firing, noone has a gunner and i have one dude there, bugged but there.

Here mate,
this was written by Kristorf and it works for humans:

In your conf.ini look for [core],
third from bottom entry change 'SpawnHumans=0' to '1'

Ubi splash screen
No more!

Go to X:\...\Il2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\parts\core\GUI
and rename the file Logo.wmv

Thats it;)

That is UNTIL steam checks your files (manually or via an update) and then you have it again.

I renamed it myself before the first patch, after which it was reintigrated through the first official patch. Haven't bothered with it again since.

The conf.ini setting 'SpawnHumans=1' will however remain.

cheers

if it is the same one... he sits halfway into the ground and melded into the gun

Half sunk gunner in the black death track is an example.

Also in the training mission I have people working on the hangars you pass (painting them or something), there are some other occassions where you see them.

... half melted into the gun, ....

if they leave it this way, we can "simulate" the Philadelphia-Experiment with the USS Eldridge, hehe....

I read somewhere in this forum that the Ubi splash screen produces in ATI-card owners an underclocking of the core of the card. When showing the splash screen, the ATI cards underate their core frequency clock upto only 300 MHz, something called "Video-Mode" or so, and stays there later in the game, instead of growing back to what is said to be "Game Mode", 800-900....MHz. This causes bad performance in the game.

Changing the name of the file from Logo.wmv to another name, the program cannot find it and this underclock does not happen.

This is what I read, I didn't check as I have a Nvidia card (and this seems not to be affected by this issue). May someone confirm it? If it is true it should be fixed ASAP by the devs. I think it is a severe shortcoming for ATi users.

Specially, as it has been stated above, if every time you patch the game the video file gets back to the original name.

I was thinking that same thing as I posted the earlier reply
