Well I guess you could play a pseudo CoOp by going on a "English Channel" MP map getting on coms and joining up with some other players to go for the Ai bombers. Or an offensive sweep over enemy airfields, or a defensive CAP over your own. You could also try escorting your own bombers to there objective. In fact the English Channel map feels very much like a dynamic campaign, theres always new people joining and AI missions in progress so its not difficult to find some action.
A dedicated CoOp server would need a lot of admining, selecting maps new missions etc and you would just be flying against AI. Fighting real pilots is just so much better.

at the current status of CoD "classic IL2" style COOP online events are not possible......
and it were only these onlinewars that kept me online all the years with IL2 , from the first IOW and VEF on.

but if you want try to build and fly COOP missions with CoD , with its given limitations :( , perhaps that topic helps

Coops working, them to start is different to IL-2.

The difference is:
First select your side.
Then scroll into the Map, so you can see the little blue or red planes.
then select one of the plane, then you get a Information page at the right side, there is a not so well seen Button before Pilot. I ve a german Version so the Button is called "Auswahl" in english it should be "choice" or "select", i think. Hit this BUTTON, now you have selected this plane. Your comrades should do the same for their planes.
And now after all players have selected their planes the Mission Host should start the mission and you and your comrades should be in their planes.

but IIRC the missionbuilder have to set them on idle ?
if yes, the builder have to know before how much players will fly the mission.
and dont the host have to have mapicons enabled to see these small planes on the map ?

I got it working on each map but the Channel.
On what map did you test your Coop?
Each time we tried only the host was able to join (Channel map).

Without Mapicons you don't see the planes but you can also select them . Hope the developers will make a better solution in the future

Is that the ingame provided org. map?
Otherwise would you mind to share a working example coop map with us?

There are an excellent and proven implementation of a better solution.
It was done in IL-2, Pasific Fighters, Forgotten Battles and in Il-2 1946.

An easy mix would be to have a list next to the open map in COD. So when a player choose a slot on the list, it would show on the map and visa versa.
