Hi all I am looking a building a new system, current one over 4 years old and just want some comments/advise on what I am looking at. The system will be mainly gaiming rig for COD and BF3 when comes out as well as main home computer. While I plan to only run I 1080 monitor on it will look to go three monitors at later date. Ok so to the build

CPU i7 2600k
Motherboard Asus Maximus extreme iV
GPU Nvidia GTX590
Ram 8 Gig of low lat. (1600) 1.5 v prob Ripjaw
PSU Corsair 1200w gold
H70 cooling system (all in one water block)
SSD 120 sytem drive
2 TD harddrive storage
Raven V1 Tower case

I am looking at playing around with overclocking the 2600k thus the reason for the Asus board. I am also playing around with cad design as well as the gaming on this rig. So any comments or advise would be great.

Thanks
DJ

I think CloD will just about run on that...

Only kidding. Looks good. Are you allowing for a second GPU? The 1200w PSU seems like overkill otherwise, I'd have thought.

My only comment is - more RAM! I've got a lower-spec system on order (i7 950 3.06Ghz s1366 [overclocked], ASUS Sabretooth X58 MoBo, 2GB XFX HD6970 GPU, 12GB [3x4] 1600 RAM, Corsair 1000W PSU [allowing for 2nd GPU], 128GB SSD, 1TB SATA2 HD, Antec 300 case), and I found that it made more sense to get as much RAM as you are likely to want for some time - you may well have to replace the lot, rather than adding more. I'd check on this. Though 8GB sounds a lot, it may not be in a year or two, and it is relatively cheap compared to some other components.

I didn't have the confidence (or money) to go with a watercooled system. I don't trust water near electronics...

Thanks for that Andy,
The idea for the 1200 PSU was so when I get the Three monitor set up I can also get a second x590 for a total of quad GPU's. Had heard that they are power eaters. Too true about the ram thing might get that extra 8 gig while they are cheap, besides can always use a ram disk, even though I don't have a clue on how to do this lol.
