Yeah, bl***y youngsters, don't know how lucky they are, mumble, mumble, cough, cough....

I say take their shiny new PCs away, and give them a Sinclair Spectrum, a cassette recorder, a blank tape, and a 1980s vintage computer gaming magazine. You want to play games? You've got to type it in first. Only 5 pages of badly-printed random characters to type in (and then the game turns out to be crap anyway ).

Can you imagine the whiners here turning up at a real RAF fighter squadron?

"I'm not flying that. Hurricanes are porked. I wanna Spitfire. And the graphics are rubbish - this airfield is all in black and white..."

Plus the stack of a dozen 3.5" disks next to you.
Of course you have to change disks at least every 30min of gameplay - and while they are loading the next level, you can take a leak, brew a cup of coffee, order pizza and write your X-mas cards.

Good old times.

yeah, remove the cockpit, remove the airframe, remove the lighting, turn all the detail down...

the game is improving a lot, but this post is just nonsense.

COD doesn't stutter as bad as Elite used to on my Apple][+.

No hang on a minute! Elite didn't stutter. 2fps was what it ran at!

Cheers!

3.5"? Bloody youngsters...

In my day they were 5.25"

:P

I'm certainly not that old, but my first computer experience was indeed typing 3-4 pages of basic into a ZX81 - with no tape - with one of those dodgy 16Kb RAM packs that if you wiggled it, it crashed. In the end the "game" was two solid blocks. One moved horizontally. The player moved the other one vertically to intercept the other one. Oh my days.

I must've been, what, 5 years old? Maybe 6?

Compare COD to something like ARMA2 and COD runs so much better with full detail. It runs fine on my system yet if you turn up the details on ARMA I get 6fps. We should be thankfull.

Touché

We do have some awesome paperweights at work though - I believe they're 2MHz watercooled processors from back in the day. Must weigh a couple of kilos each.

Yeah but the key thing here is that he's on an older system with a budget video card and he has playable FPS. Doesn't look great but at that stage of the game it's just good that it's running at a level where it can be played.

Actually, all that matters is that Raaaid is having fun. Isn't that what CloD is supposed to be for?

I'm sure raaaid won't object if I point out that he often seems to be somewhere on the fringes of rationality - if not a little outside on occasion - but at least he understands why we are all here - to relax, and lose ourselves in an imaginary world where we can reenact WWII air battles without the risks (and moral dilemmas) involved. Altogether a saner attitude than has often been apparent on these forums lately...

eaw IS awesome

why are you wasting your time with cartoonish games when in twenty years youll have photorealistic

your playing pathetics games compared with whats coming

man accept it is not the looks tetris is better than the other cod

im thankfull because i can play with a cheap rig and get more fps than people who can only apreaciate the apearances and have ultra expensive rigs, and have more fps than them

the team made the online fair by allowing low testures and stuff

oh i know you would prefer to be able to beat me online by the game enforcing high end eye candy

that way expensive rigs would beat online cheap rigs

think about this:

when we meet online ill take you to london

like my game looks like crap il be getting 50 fps while your beatifull stupid blonde will be running at 10-20 fps

so ill have an advantage over you though i spent on hardware 400 hundred euro in the last 10 years :)
