View Full Version : Mission Planner: How to set a flight with a delayed start?

Hi, i'm new to the IL2 series, but i always like to make missions in the sims i fly, so i've been playing with the Mission Planner tool.

One thing i can't figure out is how to create a flight that does not start at the start of the mission. Say the mission starts at 12:00 and i want a flight of bombers to spawn at 12:30 for example. I can't see an option to do this, but i assume it must be possible.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Atm this FMB doesnt have that feature... Someone update me and show me if im wrong please :D

Maybe have a look at the "trigger" feature... say if you shot down all the bombers (12:00 onwards) currently on map, then a new group could appear afterwards??? - got work now so i can try it out :(

Update - I know you can do it in IL2 1946 (made a "bomber attack" map where they would come at you (home base) at different times...

Please be wrong.. as that seems unbelievable to me, such an important feature! :eek:

There must be a suitable work around if you are right....

in the FMB go to edit, script, i havent fiddled too much but it would appear there you can create scripts and then apply them to aircraft groups you have created, when i went into "actions" i noticed one named spawn so i would imagine having a fiddle there should work

if i were going to test this id make a quick airgroup on an airfield make a spawn script for it then park a camera or player aircraft there and see what pops up

Thanks, i've looked that this.. but can't figure it out.
There is a box i ticked called: Script Spawn C.. but no idea what it does..and the Trigger and Action are also equally meaningless to me i'm afraid. I can assign spawn script to a plane.. but that is all.

The 'script' section is empty, and i have no experience in scripting in IL2, i have no idea what language or varables to use. Clueless!

If it is the same than IL2 you can by make it appear later, not activated later but spawn later.

Here you go

Basically you make one "Trigger" and one "Action"

Both the trigger and action must have the SAME NAME to work!

With the action, you must select the aircraft in question

... Thats about it...

I've been trying to figure out how to work the scripts all week !

I'm having a good look at how the campaigns are put together, very annoying that you save missions to 'my docs' COD... but for campaigns to work you have to put them into steam COD which mucks up any images and sound files...working on cutting and pasting locations into missions for this...

It is written in your manual that scripting and other advanced features will have documents, but they aren't with the initial release of COD.

KDN i launched the same map (as i used for the test) on muiltplayer sever (as i will probably play it with my dad at some point lol) and it worked... Maybe if you attach the map your making, i can have a look for you??

Well, if you can make it to work, there is probably something I am not doing on my end. Just so I can have a quick result I set only timers for three groups. All triggers and actions are happening when I test it in FMB but not when I run it in a Multiplayer environment. Does the mission have to be in a specific folder?

Don't see anything a little ironic in this response? To paraphrase; "the manual says you will get a full manual". :)

It'll be good to get a more comprehensive manual, the present one is lacking in a lot of detail.

Well, if you can make it to work, there is probably something I am not doing on my end. Just so I can have a quick result I set only timers for three groups. uh i was thinkin it would be easier (if u didnt mind) if u zip the map into a zip file and then post it on the page? when fixed u can delete

o mate, on object browser check and see that you have the "script spawn or" ticked at the bottom of the group prop tab - just a guess!!

It is ticked it shows in the .mis file as "SpawnFromScript 1"

In any case, I put the mission on another pc and I connected through LAN and the first group DID spawn this time.
The server is running win XP 32 and my PC(the one it did not work) runs win 7 64.
I will do some more testing and check the logs and see if I can come up with a more definitive answer.

Ok, I exited CoD and restarted it and it works everywhere :)

This script can be useful to load any mission into current one at certain time. have a look http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=21518
