Hi Guys,
Just bought CoD on Steam today. Was going to wait a couple of weeks due
to performance bugs/glitches/installation problems etc. that i've read on
this forum.
1-No problems installing from Steam.
2-Took a bit of time to map my thrustmaster flight stick, but got there.
3-I have the graphics maxed on all settings(apart from AA at 4).
Getting between 25-50 fps over land(even London).
Small stutters but generally smooth gameplay.Played for about 2 hours,
but so far have to say this is going to be the best combat/flightsim ever.
Visually breathtaking(sound needs massive improvment).
4-When sli/multicore and other optimizations start flowing with patches
there will be no stopping CoD.
Advice to people having problems is to hang in there and wait,it will all
come good as in the original il2.
Would rate this game 8.5/10 as is,rising to 9.5 when patched.
Just built my rig 2 weeks ago, this is the 1st game i've tried.
Will be buying my gtx580 a brother when i can afford it.
Hope people have not been put off by all the negative comments in this
forum as it will need a decent rig to fulfill its huge potential.
Well worth the purchase.

is it the 1,5 gb gtx 580 or the 3 gb one you are using?

I have the same graphic card and same results, it is likely that this game was created with this:confused: card in mind.

Remember development started several years ago, before even nvidia knew what their current cards would be. The game runs well on cards with over 1 gig ram, so the 560ti, the 6950 and 6970 etc.

Huh, I have a gtx 580 too, and I have to run it with most things on medium and I still get some stuttering.

I'm using an i7950 and 6gb ddr3ram

the game filed up to 1200mb of video ram over london and may even at time reach 1500mb+, firing/damage model is also a CPU hog
so having a powerful GPU and pushing it further with a uber CPU is a good combo

2500k/2600k & Gtx580/6970 2GB/GTX560 2GB (palit special edition) is the way to go for playing this game on high settings and by chance all those sweeties are available on the market :D maybe a bit expensive yet, but in one year we will be all playing this game maxed, how much did we wait for il2 to play it smoothly perfect ?

Dang, I have an i7 2600, but only a GTX 460 1GB. Still, let's see how things are after the patch.

I have good performance with GTX 570 too. I think CPU is not important for this game, GPU is the most important.

Yes, I'm hoping they get SLI/Xfire support going soon. As far as I figure it there is no single-card solution that can play the game adequately at high settings, as it stands. Plan is to get two unlocked 6950s and go to town, so to speak (I am curious how they'll handle London).

So the Xfire/SLI support should probably be a fairly big priority, behind the general optimizations.
