Hi Iam currently running ati 6850 with win 7 32 bit with 4 gig ram. Is it benificial to run win 7 64 bit with 8 gig ram?. Is there a noticable difference between the 2 setups? The requirements say 4 gig recommended. Thanks

No there is no benefit, I have 12GB of ram on Win 7 64, unfortunateley Clod does not use all the ram installed and as of yet there is no talk of a fix for this or a 64bit launcher.

well Win7 is using some of the RAM available....then COD...but, yes, for now 4gigs is enough...Lets say 6GIGS of RAM and Win7 64bit is a "sweat spot" and future proof...with 32bit OS and 4GIGS of RAM you will have only 2,5 GIGS of RAM available as this is max for 32bit....I think...So IMHO he should upgrade to win764 bit...and later he can add aditional 2 GIGS of RAM....If needed

Have the Dev team ever mentioned creating a 64bit executable? This would seem to be the easiest first step in making Clod run better. An official statement on this would be reassuring. I've heard mention that an entire program must be developed for 64bit which is a bit worrying as one would expect it would ship with the 64bit exe if that were so but I don't know what the real facts are about this.

12 GB RAM is useful if you wan't to get rid of the OS page file in order to increase performance.
I run Windows 7 64 on a box with 12 GB RAM and no page file, and all games run much faster as there's no vRAM access to the disks (they're far slower than RAM) and stability is perfect, no crashes at all.

Ok so the game works fine with win 7 64, just i have read somewhere it needs a win 7 64 executable?

It does not as far as I know, I've been playing on that OS (Windows 7 64 ) and no special executable needs to be honest. Also runs pretty well. :)

Depends on the game though, if you only fly CoD then it is a no-brainer to use Win7 64 but if you play other games then XP and win7 32 offer far greater stablity.
It is always a trade-off which is rather strange as almost every single cpu made nowdays is 64bit enabled

Special exe is not needed, because windows emulate 32 bit. But if you want to have goodies of 64 bit operating system (better memory management), program (COD in this case) should be written for 64 bit.
As it the case with DCS: A10C. You have 32 & 64 bit exe ...
