Here's what we need to do, we need to go out and buy the game on release day. It's the only way we can help the game to improve, speculating on the forums is a nice waste of time but doesn't help much. Just don't give me the "I'm not giving my hard earned €/$ away for nothing!" excuse, I'm considered poor where I live but I've had wet long nights on town and spent twice as much money on an evening that I don't even remember.

Usually I don't pay for broken -unplayable- games on release but in this case I'm willing to make an exception and the reasons are clear:

1. I love WWII flight sims
2. Alternatives, Hawx or Ace Combat anyone?
3. Oleg and teams track record
4. I love WWII flight sims

My thoughts entirely mate.

People pay £35+ to go and watch a 90 minute football match and don't always get the result they were hoping for.

A few beers and a takeaway curry are about the same price, depending on a few variables.

We'll be enjoying CoD for years to come for the same money.

3. Oleg and teams track record
For this reason alone I will get it now in April. The fact is Oleg doesn't dissapoint and all I have to do is buy and simply wait for Oleg to optimise it.

So yeah I'm onboard men, tally ho!

I'm in. What we can do is contribute to the improvement/possible fixes by reporting any issues we might find. As for comparing a game to a dinner and a movie...That's entirely up to the persons priorities.

I agree with all the above.
Oleg and co have sweated buckets over this release, and are still having a very hard time with it.
They need our support, and they badly need our money.

The more people who buy it, the better it will become.

I'm in too. While others put their hand on their hearts and swear they won't lift a finger in support of the title until it's either perfect or goes bust, we can at least do our bit to further development and ensure it survives the first crucial 12 months.

Later when begrudging, self righteous old men here finally go back on their word and do decide to get involved, they can do so because we made it possible. Not that you'd get a word of thanks for it though. ;)

Unfortunatley I agree with you all. We really need the game that the developers wrote, and not some porked version, and I'm quite happy to get a dodgy copy in order to play that game. But in the meantime, I'll be buying the knackered version from ubisoft. IL2 was my favourite game of all time, and that's enough for me to buy this game on release, even if it does seem like there's been an almighty balls up.

I'm in too!

Flipped out with epilepsy and other frenzies around the release, but after thinking about it crying and ranting won't do much good. Will buy and support this title which ever way I can. It must succeed if we expect to play a decent next gen WW2 flight sim, there are no alternatives.

Salute Oleg & Team!

LOL! The nay sayers will also buy the game, they can't help themselves but if not then thank God/Buddha/Allah that the majority of people that will buy this game are not represented from this board.

I spent more than $50 yesterday on alcohol, and I guess many of you others did the same on a saturday night? So why should I not spend $50 to support the no1 game I've been waiting for the last 6-7 years? Even if if won't even install until patch 1.03 I will still not cancel my pre order as we need to support MG in their finest hour - even though they have a hard time right now.

Thinking of the alternative games (CFS anyone?) makes me more thankful for my preorder.

Bring it on I say!

+1 on that.

I'm sure the issue with the fps and the filter will be sorted eventually.

I'm in too, IL2 series hasnt let us down yet. I'm an ArmA & ArmA 2 veteran so i understand about bumpy releases.
I'm sure 1C will patch up the problems AND I'm totally confident they'll make true on their promise to fix the Epileptic stuff and make sure all the content removed finds its way back in without anyone frothing and foaming at the mouth.
+1 for the 1C support.

Another fanboi checking in...was sad to read about the epilepsy and general performance issues but never remotely considered not buying the game.

I still have my collectors edition on pre-order and can't wait to get stuck in. I couldn't begin to count the number of hours of enjoyment the IL-2 series has brought me so on that track record I'm looking forward to it immensely. Too many naysayers jumping on issues they have not even seen and going on third hand information.

Bought a DL edition and collector's edition so far...if I could afford it right now I'd buy the Russian version so I can play around with tweaking before it's activated on my main Steam account. :)

A big +1.

At the release, ROF had huge problems and the deciding thing that pushed the game forward was the suport from the users. We kept buying planes so they have money to pay the programers that do the fixes.
Now ROF is a glorious modern flight sim that should be in the toy box of all flight simmers.
If players just give up and follow "the game is dead, the sky is falling" crowd, it can kill the game before it has a fair chance.

remember: Poor initial sales = no money for fixes, improvements and continuity.

I have two copies on order.

They have my suport.:)

Yep, agree completely. Will be getting my sweaty palms on my pre-order DVD at the end of the week. Still really looking forward to it.

My CE should be in the post to me tomorrow. No way I'd miss out on this, however buggy at the start. I've enjoyed every minute of RoF even when it wasn't the gem it is today.

I also never even thought about cancelling my preordered CE.
Also i think i still try to get the russian version, even if it is just to see if there is a difference.

It's a sympathetic thought, but with UBI calling the shots, their disregard for their customers as of late, combined with horrible support when things don't work, simply makes a purchase too much of a risk. I'm not really considering the financial risk as the price won't bankrupt me, but the frustrations might provoke an emotional bankruptcy ;-). I'm sad and depressed about this whole ordeal, and the thought of maybe having to wave goodbye to the IL-2 franchise but I'm sure I'll find other hobbies soon.

I've never considered cancelling my order. Just from watching the team develop things over the last few years I've realised how dedicated they are. It just seems to have massive potential, I mean lets face it; it's the future.

Hopefully with a few months of optimization we'll have a top product. I know it's a pain to hear about the problems on release (and no I don't think we should be beta testers), but I for one will cut them some slack. Time will sort it out. :)

I have been waiting so many years for this. Of course I will buy it.

BUT...it would be fine to hear something official about all these problems.

WTH is going on???

they'll have my money and my support, this is going to be the best flight sim for the next 10 years with optimizing and add-ons, not to mention more powerful pc's:cool:

Buying this game was a foregone conclusion the day I heard of it. Now I'll probably get 2 copies (digital download + CE).

Fanbase support is what made the difference between original IL-2 Sturmovik and 1946!
